Dems blame Rahm Emanuel for the death of ObamaCare

Congressional Democrats are starting to blame Rahm Emanuel for ObamaCare’s failure.  Centrist Democrats blame Rahm for not trying to work with enough Republicans and progressive Democrats are blaming Rahm for allowing Max Baucus and the Senate Finance Committee to waste so much time. The Hill reports even a few more reasons why the Democrats are blaming Rahm.

What is pretty telling from The Hill’s story is that none of the Congressional Democrats are blaming the policies put forth. Even the Scott Brown victory has not opened their eyes to the simple fact that Americans hated the policies of the bill.

Think about this for a second, the American people hated every healthcare bill put out by both the House and Senate Democrats. No bill had the majority of Americans supporting it.  Yet, these Democrats are now blaming Rahm for not getting the final bill passed. Given how much the American people hated the final bill, the Democrats should be eternally grateful that Rahm screwed up otherwise they would be in a much worse position going into 2010.

National Insecurity: John Brennan and “serving the goals of Al Qaeda”

Today Assistant National Security Advisor John Brennan penned a ridiculous Op-Ed in USA Today.  In it he charges that those opposing the administration’s foolish handing of the Panty Bomber are “serving the goals of Al Qaeda” and that they are doing so strictly for political reasons.

Here are the highlights (or lowlights if you will) from the Op-Ed:
Politics should never get in the way of national security. But too many in Washington are now misrepresenting the facts to score political points, instead of coming together to keep us safe.
[SNIP]
It's naive to think that transferring Abdulmutallab to military custody would have caused an outpouring of information. There is little difference between military and civilian custody, other than an interrogator with a uniform. The suspect gets access to a lawyer, and interrogation rules are nearly identical.
[SNIP]
Politically motivated criticism and unfounded fear-mongering only serve the goals of al-Qaeda. Terrorists are not 100-feet tall. Nor do they deserve the abject fear they seek to instill. They will, however, be dismantled and destroyed, by our military, our intelligence services and our law enforcement community. And the notion that America's counterterrorism professionals and America's system of justice are unable to handle these murderous miscreants is absurd. [MORE]
Lets start with the first quote. I am surprised that Brennan would bring up playing politics with national security when he himself has been play “cover your ass” from the get go. Americans would feel far safer under Brennan’s leadership if he was as diligent fighting Al Qaeda as he was playing CYA.

Brennan’s notion that the only difference between trying terrorists in criminal court vs. a military tribunal is an interrogator, shows that he does not have a full understanding of the issue at hand. Isn’t cost one of the reasons why NYC officials do not want the KSM trial in Manhattan? It is way cheaper to hold a military tribunal at Gitmo than to have a show trial in New York. Given our alarming debt, one would think that saving pennies would be a chief concern for all administration officials.

What is absurd about Bennan’s closing remarks is that he thinks the administration’s security team is up to snuff. The only reason why Brennan wrote this piece is because people on both sides of the aisle are starting to question the competence of these so-called security professionals.

Obama would do well to clean house with his security team. Eric Holder, Janet Napolitano and John Brennan have repeatedly shown themselves to incompetent clowns of the first order.

Pam Geller enters the Viper Pit (a.k.a. The Joy Behar Show)

Pam Geller, author of Atlas Shrugs, bravely slugs it out on the Joy Behar show. In a three on one mix match, Geller holds her own against three of the biggest PDS zombies. PDS zombie Ron Reagan was feeling particularly butch.  Watch his silly ass try to intimidate Pam Geller. He would have better luck trying to be half the person his father was.

Speaking of President Reagan, you know that old saying “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”?  Well in his son’s case, the apple fell off the tree, rolled down a hill, into the river and floated out the ocean.  Ron Reagan is a sad testament to the legacy of one of America’s greats. Pity.

Click on over to Atlas Shrugs and see the vile hate mail the lefties sent Pam.

New York Times story on Governor Paterson maybe a firecracker rather than a bombshell

Yesterday Business Insider reported that the New York Times was about to drop a bombshell story that would lead to New York Governor David Paterson’s resignation. Well today we are now hearing from the New Yorker that the bombshell story might just turn out to be a few firecrackers:
According to a source close to the Paterson camp who is familiar with the scope of the Times' reporting, the Times piece will be an in-depth profile of the governor focused on his personal character. There are likely to be new details about his marital infidelities, but the source added that it's not going to be the bombshell the blogs have predicted. "The piece is PG-13, not XXX," the source explained. "Not to say it won't be problematic, but the Aqueduct situation? That's potentially criminal. On his extramarital affairs, the question is who those people are, and what jobs they've held."
Paterson is a cheeky one. If the story turns out to be PG-13 with a bunch of nobodies, then you can bet Paterson won’t step down. If there is some criminal activity involved too, we may have something. Stay tuned.

Miss Me Yet? The mystery of the Bush billboard

Someone has a real sense of humor and a wallet to match. This billboard of Bush mysteriously went up in Wyoming, Minnesota along I-35 and no one seems to know who paid for it.

I would not be surprised if a local Tea Party sponsored the ad. Wouldn’t it be a hoot if this billboard started cropping up everywhere like the Obama Socialist poster?

NPR speculates about the message of the billboard:
At first glance, it would seem to be from some person or group who isn't thrilled by President Barack Obama's performance so far -- unless it's a more ironic message from those who didn't think too much of Bush and want to remind voters about him.
I don’t think this billboard has anything to do with an ironic message. It seems more like it is asking, “How’s that Hopey Changey stuff out working out for ya”?

Who do you think paid for the billboard?

Iran's Ayatollah issues new threat for February 11th, says anniversary “punch” will stun the west

Looks like Iran may very well have something up its sleeve.  This is the second threat made by Iran concerning the upcoming anniversary of the Iranian revolution.  This time the threat comes from the Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

From Breitbart:
Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Monday that Iran is set to deliver a "punch" that will stun world powers during this week's 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution.
"The Iranian nation, with its unity and God's grace, will punch the arrogance (Western powers) on the 22nd of Bahman (February 11) in a way that will leave them stunned," Khamenei, who is also Iran's commander-in-chief, told a gathering of air force personnel.
The country's top cleric was marking the occasion when Iran's air force gave its support to revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, a key event which led to the toppling of the US-backed shah on February 11, 1979.
His comments came as Iran said it would begin to produce higher enriched uranium from Tuesday, in defiance of Western powers trying to ensure the country's nuclear drive is peaceful. [MORE]
It seems like Iran maybe doing more than just boasting. It was one thing when Ahmadinejad made his threat, but now to have it echoed similarly by the Ayatollah seems like more of a certainty.  I would not be surprised if they test a nuke on that day. This would certainly stun the world because nobody thinks they are that far along in development. It would also mean the world has entered a very dangerous phase in history.

UPDATED: John Murtha dead at age 77

John Murtha has died today after suffering from complications due to his gall bladder surgery. Murtha’s death leaves yet another House seat for Democrats to fill in the 2010 elections. This might actually work to their advantage considering that Murtha’s special interest earmarks were sure to be an issue this time around.

UPDATE: Special Election for Murtha's seat to be held in 60 days.

From Hot Air:
Update: A special election will be called within 60 days to fill Murtha’s seat for the rest of the year. The winner, obviously, will enjoy an incumbency advantage in November. It’s a jump ball:
With Murtha gone, however, the special election will be seriously contested. Murtha’s district is the only one in the country won by Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) in 2004 and by Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in 2008, according to Republican sources, and that trend line coupled with the volatile national environment for Democrats ensures Republicans will heavily target the contest.

Scapegoat Time: Obama’s Bipartisan Health Care Summit

Talk about a transparent maneuver. Obama is planning a bipartisan Healthcare Summit for later this month. He even wants it televised on C-SPAN finally.

WASHINGTON — President Obama said Sunday that he would convene a half-day bipartisan health care session at the White House to be televised live this month, a high-profile gambit that will allow Americans to watch as Democrats and Republicans try to break their political impasse.
[SNIP]
The move by Mr. Obama comes after weeks in which the administration has appeared uncertain about how to proceed on his top domestic priority since Republicans captured the Senate seat previously held by Senator Edward M. Kennedy. House and Senate Democrats had been increasingly at odds over what the bill should say, how to move ahead tactically and, in some cases, whether to continue at all.
The idea for the bipartisan meeting, set for Feb. 25, was reached in recent weeks, aides said, as part of the White House strategy to intensify its push to engage Congressional Republicans in policy negotiations, share the burden of governing and put more scrutiny on Republican initiatives.
Mr. Obama’s announcement came after he surprised his rivals in late January by requesting that a session with House Republicans be open to cameras. That meeting produced a spirited 90-minute question-and-answer session with the president that many in the White House viewed as a critical success for Mr. Obama.
In making the gesture on Sunday, Mr. Obama is in effect calling the hand of Republicans who had chastised him for not honoring a campaign pledge to hold health care deliberations in the open, broadcast by C-Span, and for not allowing Republicans at the bargaining table.
Does anyone actually believe that Obama is looking for a real solution here? This summit (a mere half day meeting) isn’t about advancing the healthcare debate; instead it is design to get Republicans involved so they can blame them for the death of ObamaCare.

All of last year, the Democrats and the Democrats only worked on healthcare reform. The current death of healthcare reform comes strictly at the hands of Democrats. Up to this point Republicans have clean hands, they were not allowed input into the process and were powerless to stop it. Therefore, Democrats are desperate for someone other than themselves to blame for the bill’s failure and an entire year wasted. Enter the Healthcare Summit and a way to involve Republicans.

Republicans know that this bill needs to go all the way back to the drawing board.  Obama has already signaled that starting over is not an option. So by participating in the summit, Republicans are left with two choices; compromise and help to pass a still shitty bill or reject it completely and give the Democrats the scapegoat they desperately need.

If Boehner and McConnell have any sense, they will begin now to work on a strategy to avoid these consequences. A possible way will be to use the C-Span coverage to showcase the Democrats irresponsibility in wanting such an expensive proposal at a time like this.
