Oopsie! Kathleen Sebelius admits to double counting in ObamaCare

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius was corned today by Republican Rep. John Shimkus of Illinois at the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee.  Shimkus pressed Sebelius hard on the double counting of the $500 billion in cuts from Medicare and Sebelius spilled the beans.

The Daily Caller: In her first appearance before the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee since the health-care law passed, Kathleen Sebelius responded to a line of questioning by Republican Rep. John Shimkus of Illinois about whether $500 billion in Medicare cuts were used to sustain the program or pay for the law.
“There is an issue here on the budget because your own actuary has said you can’t double-count,” said Shimkus. “You can’t count — they’re attacking Medicare on the CR when their bill, your law, cut $500 billion from Medicare.”
He continued: “Then you’re also using the same $500 billion to what? Say your funding health care. Your own actuary says you can’t do both. […] What’s the $500 billion in cuts for? Preserving Medicare or funding the health-care law?
Sebelius’ reply? “Both.”
What pisses me off about this is that we knew the Democrats were cooking the book before ObamaCare passed. We knew about the bogus assumption the Democrats fed the CBO. We knew about how Democrats passed the Doc Fix separately and we certainly knew about the double counting.  Had the media pressed Obama and the Democrats as hard as Rep. Shimkus pressed Sebelius, America would not be $500 billion more in the whole.  Instead our media went right along with the gag that ObamaCare would lower the deficit.

I wish Shimkus had a few more minutes to ask Sebelius exactly where in the hell America is suppose to get the extra $500 billion the Democrats tried to hide?

Should America end up flat on her back busted broke, we should not vent all of our wrath at the Democrats' reckless spending.  We should make sure to give some of that wrath to the Democrats' media lapdogs too.

Town Halls or Town Howls?

First up we have that sensational video of Kathleen Sebelius and Arlen Specter getting rip new ones. Listen to the crowd's anger when opportunist turncoat Specter says "we do this fast", referring to 1,000+ page bills.

Next we have Lloyd Doggett, completely surrounded by his constituents in Austin, Texas.

Finally we have Tim Bishop from Setauket, New York finding out that his BS talking points are no match for a well informed electorate. If I am not mistaken Bishop was kind of arrogant and had said he was going to cancel his Town Halls because no one wanted to listen to him. Memo to Mr. Bishop: it is about listening to US!!!!!!!

Shop those lies someplace else!

The people are not buying the lies on Obamacare.

So, the lying tax cheat Sebelius gets confirmed.

Lying tax cheat Kathleen Sebelius got confirmed yesterday. Once again "crisis" was the reason to hurry up and confirm an undeserving and questionably qualified person to a cabinet position. The vote was 65-31 with nine Republicans voting "Yes".

Here is what I don't understand about the nine Republican votes. Since the election the left has been tagging Republicans as the Party of No. This has been said over and over again regardless of what the Republicans actually do. If Republicans are going to get this label no matter what they do, why not just say NO when it really counts?

If I were a Republican Senator I would have issued my statement of no how, no way, the second Sebelius lied about her involvement with Tiller the Baby Killer. I would have said Mr. President, start looking for another nominee for DHHS. Governor Sebelius has proven herself to be untrustworthy of the position. Since you have repeatedly promised the American people both transparency and high ethical standards in your administration, I would like to help you keep your word by not appointing yet another tax cheat to your administration.

Harsh words? You betcha, but they are also very true and are Obama's own standards. Plus considering the press would crucify you no matter what excuse you used to say no, you might as well go for the jugular.

Instead of such bold action, we get wishy washy Republicans who vote Yes in order to go along and get along. That mentality achieves nothing for those wishy washy Republicans other than the scorn from their base.

Here are the nine Republicans who voted for Sebelius with a few notes of my own.

Snow (R ME)
Collins (R ME)
Specter (R PA)
Lugar (R IN)
This is the usual gang of party poopers. Specter says we need more of these types. For what? To further undermine the conservative message, no thanks.

Gregg (R NH)
When this guy jumped ship from the Obama administration, some Republicans were singing his praises. I did not. Gregg never struck me as reliable or principled.

Brownback (R KS)
For someone who wants to be big in the Pro Life movement, this vote was unforgivable!
Bond (R MO)
Roberts (R KS)
Voinovich (R KS)

Meet Tax Cheat #6 - Kathleen Sebelius

Today we add another member to the long parade of tax cheats in the Obama Administration, Health and Human Services nominee Kathleen Sebelius. At this rate we will need a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet just to keep track of them all!

Ms. Sebelius, "claimed" to have "discovered errors" in her 2005-2007 tax returns (how timely). Her hired accountant found almost $8,000 in taxes and interest. Ever so conveniently, Obama and his staff were not available to comment on good old #6.

Just a few short months ago, then Governor Sebelius was battling state Republicans to get them to open up the Kansas purse strings. She was holding up state tax refunds in the process, imagine that? I guess since she already took hers, why be bothered with the little people Democrats are always "fighting for".

Two things really get my goat about the tax cheats. First, several years ago, I fell behind on my own taxes. The IRS beat me like a rented mule for far less money than any of these crooks owe. Second, that sneering video of Joe "Plugs" Biden blathering on about how it is now patriotic to pay taxes. Who the hell was he talking about I wonder?

Below is the growing list of people, according to Joe Biden, should be considered as not "patriotic", not "jumping in", not "part of the deal" and "not helping to get America out of the rut".
  1. Nancy Killefer Cheif Performance Officer Nominee - $1,000 + a year and a half of unpaid unemployment taxes for household staff.
  2. Hilda Solis Labor Secretary Nominee - $11,000 on husband's business.
