Not funny: The Daily Show tortures a camel

The Weekly Standard: No joke: The Daily Show brought a camel to the protests in Madison the other day, presumably to help make fun of the Cairo/Madison comparisons. As this video shows, the gag didn't turn out so well:
Who knew that an animal indigenous to the Middle East couldn't walk on snow and ice in the Midwest? Local firefighters eventually rescued the camel. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the Daily Show didn't use any footage of the camel in its Tuesday night broadcast.
Update: If I'm not mistaken, it appears that Daily Show correspondent John Oliver walks in front of the camera at one point and urges the man shooting the video to turn it off. Censorship!

I am not one of those animal rights type, but this was a little difficult to watch.  Especially when the camel got it leg stuck in the fence.  Not cool.  This video proves Jon Stewart's point, Egypt and Wisconsin aren't alike in any &%$@ way. Now can he please stop torturing animals to prove the point?

Was Palin’s appearance on Leno any good? Ask Jon Stewart

The latest Palin “controversy” that has all the PDS sufferers talking is that the Leno show supposedly piped in laughter to make Palin’s jokes appear funnier than they were.  A Palin hater on Daily Kos who claimed he was in the audience started the “controversy”. This Palin hater is also aggressively hawking an anti-Palin coloring book. Needless to say, this “controversy” was tramped down by other eyewitness accounts.

If we really want to know if Palin’s appearance on Leno was any good, why not ask a professional comedian? As luck would have it, professional comedian Jon Stewart has already given his critique.

So a professional comedian, who is not a right-winger by any stretch of the imagination, thought Palin’s performance was good. That pretty much tells us how much of currency we should give this ”controversy”.

Jon Stewart on the O’Reilly Factor

Last night Bill O’Reilly had Jon Stewart on for the first of a two day segment. I found it so-so.  Jon Stewart was pretty much Jon Stewart and of course leveled aspersions against Fox News:
But most of all, Stewart used his second appearance ever on "The O'Reilly Factor" to levy a robust critique of Fox News and its coverage of President Obama.
"Here's what Fox has done, through their cyclonic perpetual emotional machine that is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week: They have taken reasonable concerns about this president and this economy and turned it into full-fledged panic attack about the next coming of Chairman Mao," the comedian told his host.

What is funny about this, is that Stewart spent the better part of the last eight years working his smaller cyclonic perpetual emotional machine to make Bush and Cheney look like rulers of the Third Reich.

Of course O’Reilly loves that Stewart went there, because Bill loves to tout the fact that Fox is number 1.  What I wish Bill had called Stewart on was his remark at 1:52.  Stewart totally wants the balance of power in government squished and have debate cut off. Total fascism.

All in all there were some funnies, but it was oh so predictable.   What did you think?
