Clarence Thomas’ nephew punched and tased at New Orleans hospital

Justice Clarence Thomas’ newphew Derek Thomas was admitted to West Jefferson Hospital for possible suicide attempt after becoming emotionally unstable. While at the hospital Derek refused to put on a hospital gown and then all hell broke lose.

Hospital security allegedly punched, tased and pulled out Derek’s hair to get him to comply. Derek Thomas who suffers from epilepsy had a massive seizure because of the event.

Justice Thomas is on his way to West Jefferson Hospital to get to the bottom of the incident.

  

As I was reading this story, I thought to myself, how long will it take before the left brings the ugly?  Anything surrounding Justice Thomas is bound to bring out the left’s inner racists. I did not have long to wait. The comments at Raw Story get ugly pretty quick. The comments go from blaming the incident on Justice Thomas’ ruling to calling Thomas an Uncle Tom.

Just more proof that if you are black, gay or a woman who does not sing from the leftwing hymnal, the left will dump their supposedly non-existent racism, homophobia and misogyny all over you.

Clarence Thomas’ wife is a Tea Partier!

You just know this is going to set the liberal tongues a wagging! 

From The LA Times: [...] "I am an ordinary citizen from Omaha, Neb., who just may have the chance to preserve liberty along with you and other people like you," she said at a recent panel discussion with tea party leaders in Washington. Thomas went on to count herself among those energized into action by President Obama's "hard-left agenda."

But Thomas is no ordinary activist.

She is the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and she has launched a tea-party-linked group that could test the traditional notions of political impartiality for the court.

In January, Virginia Thomas created Liberty Central Inc., a nonprofit lobbying group whose website will organize activism around a set of conservative "core principles," she said.

She is right; Mrs. Thomas is an American citizen and has every right to speak her mind politically.  I don’t have a problem with Virginia Thomas being a Tea Party activist, so long as she does not involve Justice Thomas. Conservative or not, Justice Thomas must remain impartial from political action.  They had both better make sure they dot their I’s and cross their T’s, because the left will pounce on anything that remotely smells like a conflict of interest.

I am sure once this story gets around; the left is going to get ugly about it.  So many things that the left hates is present; a black conservative – check, tea parties – check and an outspoken conservative woman – double check. oh, and don’t think for a second that the Tolerance Party won’t center their ugliness on the fact that the Clarence and Virginia is an interracial couple. I can almost hear the foolishness falling out of Keith Olbermann’s mouth!

Why Clarence Thomas did not attend the State of the Union

Justice Clarence Thomas has stated his reason why he did not attend Obama’s first State of the Union address.

From The Weekly Standard:

"I don't go because it has become so partisan," he said, "and it's very uncomfortable for a judge to sit there. There's a lot that you don't hear on TV: The catcalls, the whooping and hollering and under-the-breath comments. One of the consequences is now the court becomes part of the conversation, if you want to call it that, in the speeches. It's just an example of why I don't go."

Well bravo, Justice Thomas! I will go one further. The State of the Union address has become a childish circus. This did not happen under Obama, this has been in the making for quite some time. 

For me, the biggest annoyance about the SOTU is all those silly standing ovations. Congress looks like trained seals springing to their feet over every little utterance from the president. When the president says something his party likes they all spring to their feet and the opposing party sits on their hands. Republicans like what a Republican president proposes and Democrats like what a Democratic president proposes, we get it, their partisan. It would be far more dignified and useful if all of Congress followed the Supreme Court's lead and sat quietly until the end of the address.  Let the viewers decide for themselves what is or isn’t praise worthy.

In addition, the SOTU has become a forum for a president to showcase his initiatives rather than report to the American people what the true state of the nation is and what is being done to improve it.  This is why these address drone on for what seems like days and the most memorable things to come out of them are the outburst from the audience. 

Hopefully whoever the next president is, he or she will set some new ground rules for the SOTU and bring it back to a more informative tool for the American people.
