Clarence Thomas’ wife is a Tea Partier!

You just know this is going to set the liberal tongues a wagging!
From The LA Times: [...] "I am an ordinary citizen from Omaha, Neb., who just may have the chance to preserve liberty along with you and other people like you," she said at a recent panel discussion with tea party leaders in Washington. Thomas went on to count herself among those energized into action by President Obama's "hard-left agenda."
But Thomas is no ordinary activist.
She is the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and she has launched a tea-party-linked group that could test the traditional notions of political impartiality for the court.
In January, Virginia Thomas created Liberty Central Inc., a nonprofit lobbying group whose website will organize activism around a set of conservative "core principles," she said.

She is right; Mrs. Thomas is an American citizen and has every right to speak her mind politically.  I don’t have a problem with Virginia Thomas being a Tea Party activist, so long as she does not involve Justice Thomas. Conservative or not, Justice Thomas must remain impartial from political action.  They had both better make sure they dot their I’s and cross their T’s, because the left will pounce on anything that remotely smells like a conflict of interest.

I am sure once this story gets around; the left is going to get ugly about it.  So many things that the left hates is present; a black conservative – check, tea parties – check and an outspoken conservative woman – double check. oh, and don’t think for a second that the Tolerance Party won’t center their ugliness on the fact that the Clarence and Virginia is an interracial couple. I can almost hear the foolishness falling out of Keith Olbermann’s mouth!

Be sure to read the full story, Mrs. Thomas says some really great stuff. Also check out Liberty Central Inc., to learn more about her organization.

I think you nailed the Left's reaction on this issue. I hope you're wrong about it, honestly. But I think you're totally correct.

I'm getting ready for the Left's sexism and racism to be in full evidence in the papers and on TV. Being displayed in Left blogs is a given of course...

Wow! I did not know Clarence Thomas's wife was from Omaha. That's my neck of the woods. Great post!

Sadly the left has always hate Justice Thomas, and they will use anything they can to destroy him. I too predict that the hard left will show their true racist colors over this one.

Oh yeah, you will hear it about the inter-racial couple thing. Believe me when I tell you. Sadly, you hear more from the black community than the white community. At least that has been my experience.

I don't understand the big deal, spouses of judges don't check their consititutional rights at the door because of their husband's job.

I met a woman at the 9/12 rally who was married to judge, she doesn't put any signs in her yard and her husband never goes to any public events.

Oh you will see it in the media, albeit more subtly than the lefty blogs, but it will be there. They just can't help themselves.

Mrs. Thomas is always was a down home gal. If you ever run into her in your neck of the woods, make sure to point out ABC!

Sadly, I know what you are talking about when it comes to comments from blacks about inter-racial couples.

It should not be a big deal for Mrs. Thomas to express her political views, she did not take the oath her husband did. That being said, your judge friend is correct about not putting signs on the lawn and such. It would be impossible to distinguish who was being politically active in that case.

Perfect on so many levels, Clifton!

Mrs Thomas has a fabulous smile. It goes all the way through her eyes.

You go Virginia!
