Palin liked Obama’s Nobel Prize acceptance speech?

When I heard this on the news last night, I was like say what? I certainly did not care for it, because of the typical American bashing he does. We all know that Palin doesn’t bash America…ever.

Well it turns out she only liked some of the speech. We get the full story from USA Today
Sarah Palin and President Obama don't agree on much, but last year's Republican vice presidential nominee just gave the president's defense of "just wars" a thumbs up in an interview with USA TODAY. In fact, she said that the president's address in Oslo, where he accepted the Nobel Peace Prize today, reminded her of what she wrote on the same subject in her hugely successful memoir, Going Rogue.
"I liked what he said," Palin told us in a phone interview. "I talked too in my book about the fallen nature of man and why war is necessary at times." For Palin, that view strikes close to home: Her eldest son, 20-year-old Track, is an Army infantry member who recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq.
"I'm on my knees more than ever praying for his safety along with all of his fellow troops," Palin said. "Of course, war is the last thing any American, I believe, wants to have to engage in, but it's necessary. We have to stop these terrorists over there."
Conservatives shouldn't worry. Palin isn't going soft on Obama. The former Alaska governor went on to say that former president George W. Bush "did a great job of reminding Americans every single day that he was in office" of the lessons of the 9/11 attacks. "By the way, I'd like to see President Obama follow more closely in the footsteps of George Bush and his passion for keeping the homeland safe," Palin added.

Obama accepts his Peace Prize

Well today is the day, Obama picked up his Peace Prize in Norway.
Full transcript of his Nobel Prize acceptance speech can be found here. It’s a long one so I won’t repost it here. Needless to say, it is typical Obama with America bashing included:
…The world rallied around America after the 9/11 attacks, and continues to support our efforts in Afghanistan, because of the horror of those senseless attacks and the recognized principle of self-defense. Likewise, the world recognized the need to confront Saddam Hussein when he invaded Kuwait — a consensus that sent a clear message to all about the cost of aggression.
Furthermore, America cannot insist that others follow the rules of the road if we refuse to follow them ourselves. For when we don’t, our action can appear arbitrary, and undercut the legitimacy of future intervention — no matter how justified.
This becomes particularly important when the purpose of military action extends beyond self-defense or the defense of one nation against an aggressor…
How the man can accept the prize with a straight face is beyond me. At least he did acknowledge his lack of accomplishments for the prize.
I receive this honor with deep gratitude and great humility. It is an award that speaks to our highest aspirations – that for all the cruelty and hardship of our world, we are not mere prisoners of fate. Our actions matter, and can bend history in the direction of justice.
And yet I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the considerable controversy that your generous decision has generated. In part, this is because I am at the beginning, and not the end, of my labors on the world stage. Compared to some of the giants of history who have received this prize – Schweitzer and King; Marshall and Mandela – my accomplishments are slight.
I think I would go a little further and say that his accomplishments are non-existent, but hey that is just I. The again, a local Norwegian reported asked Obama about how he felt about his "premature" Nobel Prize.

I am glad to see that the Nobel Prize committee has complete egg on their faces now that Obama has sent 30,000 troops to Afghanistan and has completely dissed the people of Norway by canceling many of the Peace Prize events, including lunch with the King. This is what you get when you try to make political snubs instead of awarding true achievement.

CNN has a poll out showing 19% of Americans believe Obama deserves the prize. Yet 7 out of 10 believe he should accept it. I think he should have accepted too, but for someone more deserving. I would have accepted the prize on behalf of the American Soldier who has actually brought peace to many nations of the world. Not only would that have made Obama look like a bigger person, it would have been the perfect slap in the face of the Nobel Prize committee for their foolishness.

Say What? Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize??????

From The New York Times:

WASHINGTON — President Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples,” a stunning honor that came less than nine months after he made United States history by becoming the country’s first African-American president.
The award, announced in Oslo by the Nobel Committee while much of official Washington — including the president — was still asleep, cited in particular the president’s efforts to rid the world of nuclear weapons.

“He has created a new international climate,” the committee said.
This has to be the most absurd thing I have ever seen in all my life.  Obama has done absolutely nothing to earn the award and his efforts to rid the world of nuclear weapons has all the potential for an epic failure.

I think the world is trying to mock Obama. They know what a big narcissist he is and are playing on that big time.  If I were Obama I would find a very polite way to say "Thanks, but no thanks" to this award.  With three years to go in his presidency and oh so much to go wrong, this award has the ability to make Obama an international joke and America a complete laughingstock for electing such an unqualified man.

Obama for the sake of American pride and your own self image, turn this award down!

Let me hear your thoughts, do you think Obama should turn down the Nobel Prize?
