White House Shows Gays The Back of The Bus

Back in July I asked the question if gays were becoming the new blacks of the Democratic Party.  Today, it appears we get an answer to that question.   Right after Obama’s big Human Rights Campaign speech, John Harwood, NBC’s Chief Washington Correspondent had this to say:

So the White House views gay protesters as a “pajama clad Internet left fringe”. Funny, that sounds exactly like the attitude Obama had for the Tea Party protesters:

Perhaps things will start to come into focus for everyone that the disdain this White House has for Fox News and Tea Parties really isn’t the story. The truth is this White House has a problem with opposition in general.

Hopefully gays wake up and revolt against Obama and the Democrats. It may just serve as the much-needed example for the black community to once and for all unhitch their wagon from that bunch of users.

Are Gays the new Blacks of the DNC?

It seems like almost every time I peek in on the left side of the blogosphere, I see another rant from a gay activist about how Obama and the Democrats have thrown them under the bus. I read how gays who supported Obama’s agenda are betrayed when none of their campaign promises flesh out. They are feeling used.

This is so reminiscent of how Democrats have treated blacks for decades. Every election Democrats flock to the black community with promises to fix education, create jobs and rebuild communities, all the while pointing out supposed racist boogiemen hiding in the GOP. After the election, these Democrats recede back to their liberal ivory towers to go about their true liberal agenda until the next election. Meanwhile nothing changes for the black community.

It appears that this style of farming votes is now happening to the gay community. Obama seemed supportive and sensitive to the gay community as a candidate, but as president has repeatedly thrown the gay community under the bus from day one.

Fresh with wounds from Prop 8 in California, the gay community was thrown under the bus on the first day of the Obama administration, with the invitation of Prop 8 supporter Rick Warren to give an invocation at Obama’s Inaugural. Then came the promise of ending Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, only to see it put on the back burner. Now Obama offers the tiny consolation prize of domestic partner benefits for Federal employees.

Unlike the black community, the gay community seems ready for open revolt. They are threatening to stop funding, and are starting to speak out loudly against the betrayal. I hope blacks that are still stuck on the Democrats will wake up and take a page from the gay community are speak out against the broken promises, especially on education.

For the love of God Henrietta Hughes, will you save yourself?

If ever there was an example of what is wrong with the social welfare system in America today, it is Henrietta Hughes. You may remember her tearful pleas to the great Messiah Obama for her own kitchen and bathroom.

Well, it turns out poor helpless and hapless Henrietta is still waiting to be saved. Despite receiving a free house from a Republican no less (oh, those evil racist Republicans), Ms. Hughes is still working the system for a better life, rather than figuring out a way to change her circumstances on her own.

If you remember, Henrietta Hughes has a young and able body son, who together had some funny business going on with the sale of their homes. Despite significant money made there, Henrietta and her son cried broke and were living in her car. Today Henrietta and her son are taking computer courses and are claiming that the jobs are not there.

Sorry, but I call BS on these two. Are you telling me that with all the media attention Henrietta received back in Feb, she and her son could not hook up two minimum wage jobs until they could do better? What employer would not want the publicity of giving Ms. Hughes or her son a job? Heck, there was enough pity out there to land them a free house!

I looked up the minimum wage in Florida and it is $7.21 per hour. If both Henrietta and her son worked 40 hour each a week, they would bring home $288.40 each before taxes. Now lets say Uncle Sam was extra cruel and took $58.40 a week, each in taxes, Henrietta and her son would have about $460.00 a week combined or $1,840.00 a month combined.

If you look closely at the video above at the 2:00 mark, you will see Henrietta claims these expenses:
  • $87.00 Tithes (notice this isn't highlighted in the video)
  • $112.35 Storage
  • $60.28 Car Insurance
  • $50.00 Cash Loan
  • $45.00 Visa
  • $150.00 Gas

$504.63 Total

First of all, why is a woman that is living hand to mouth, giving away $87.00 an month in tithes? I am certain whatever church she belongs to would understand her dropping that figure to something a lot more reasonable, if not all together. Second, since Ms Hughes is living rent free in a large home, why is she still wasting $112.35 on storage? Ditching these two items, Ms. Hughes has about $300.00 in monthly overhead. Thus, leaving her and her son with $1,540.00 a month.

A quick Google search of rental property in Fort Myers Florida found some really hot finds. Check out this priced at $499-$935 a month (Damn if you can find anything this nice in NYC).

Now, I know this would be tight as far as budgets go, but come on, it is better than begging on national TV.

The problem with the Henrietta Hughes' of the world is that they feel if they work, they must have this awesome middle class life style with all the bells and whistles. Otherwise, why get off the dole? The truth is those of us who work for a living have to make do in all kinds of situations. I myself worked 3 part time jobs at one point in order to pay for college. However difficult it is, working is far better than getting jerked around by the government with all its red tape, rules and regulations.

So Henrietta, if you want a better life, stop the whining and the waiting! Instead get up off your ass and save yourself!

BTW: Did you know there is a Henriettahughes.com? Imagine that!

Why I Will Never Drink The Kool Aid [Part 1]

Upon telling other blacks that I am a conservative, the first thing they say after recovering from shock and awe is WHY? This is never an easy question to answer, not because I don’t have a clue, but rather because the person asking the question doesn’t have 5 hours to hear the full answer!

In this series of posts I will attempt to fully answer the question in under 5 hours, promise! So sit back, relax, grab a cup of Joe and here we go.

Admitting a simple truth.

First, we begin with something that many blacks know but will not admit. They have strong conservative beliefs. Some have strong social beliefs (e.g. Pro-Life or pro religion). Some are fiscally conservative (hates taxes) and some are both. Despite these beliefs, the vast majority of them blindly drink the Kool Aid and pull the “D” lever each and every time. But why?

Blacks vote for Democrats for two reasons. First, is that they bought into the notion offered by white liberals, that blacks are societal victims. They are told that the problems in their lives today stem from the residual effects of slavery and covert systemic racism. The second reason, is that blacks are sold on the idea that they are the little guy and need help in “leveling the playing field”!

I chose a different path. I stayed true to my conservative beliefs and values. I see my place in life more as a result of what I did or failed to do. While I see myself as a little guy, I think the best the government can do for me is to get out of my way, so I can someday become one of the big guys!

The origins of my beliefs.

I got my conservative beliefs from my family. I come from a family that has a strong work ethic, believed in taking responsibility for their actions, strongly believe in God and truly loves this country. Growing up I was shown these beliefs everyday. I saw my parents rise early and head out to work everyday. They took me to church every Sunday and showed great respect to the Lord. They put their faith only in their own abilities and the Lord. I saw my parents take great pride in the things they earned, and the way they presented themselves and the family. They showed their love for this nation by serving in the armed forces and never missing their opportunity to vote.

These values and beliefs stuck with me. They became my core. They are neither blackor whitem but rather they are universal. The never go out of vogue, they do not require constant updates and they have served me well in the past. I use them everyday to make my way in life with decisions big and small. So, when choosing a representative in government, why would I choose someone who does not share these beliefs and values?
