Two of the most annoying things about Obama are the way he lectures us and how he tries to be the sole source of truth. Today while giving the commencement speech at the black college of Hampton University, Obama lectured how IPods, IPads, Xboxes and PlayStations are all putting pressure on Democracy by spreading false information.
"You're coming of age in a 24/7 media environment that bombards us with all kinds of content and exposes us to all kinds of arguments, some of which don't always rank all that high on the truth meter," Obama said at Hampton University, Virginia.
"With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, -- none of which I know how to work -- information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation," Obama said.
He bemoaned the fact that "some of the craziest claims can quickly claim traction," in the clamor of certain blogs and talk radio outlets.
"All of this is not only putting new pressures on you, it is putting new pressures on our country and on our democracy."
Ugh, what utter BS! If Obama, who is addicted to his BlackBerry by the way, doesn't know how to work an IPod and so forth, how can he say with any authority that these devices are putting pressure on Democracy?
The truth is Obama doesn't like the digital era because we mere plebes are no longer slaves to the propaganda put out by his buddies in the MSM. People can now freely pull up old YouTube clips of his past contradictions, or they can search the campaign promises he has reneged on or even read actual legislation rather than take his word for it.
Now that Obama has made these statement, I cannot help but think back to that IPod he gave the Queen of England. Did he intend for the gift to distract and divert her attention to what Hope and Change was all about? Humm.
