For those of you who love history like I do, here are the links to the Nixon tapes that were released by the the Nixon Presidential Library yesterday. There are links to actual audio, PDF files of actual memos and PDF files of some actual handwritten documents.

Holy Toledo, Clifton! Thanks so much for posting this. I am a Nixon Administration aficionado - this post and the links on it are like winning the lottery.

Glad to provide them. The Nixon Administration is always a facinating read. Because of his tapes, Nixon will be the only president, we will ever know so intimately.

I especially like those tapes where he said abortion should really be readily available in the case of a bi-racial pregnancy.

I especially liked it too because it shows that abortion has always been the “cure” for the so-called “social taboos” of the day. Back in 1973 in was interracial pregnancies, today it is special needs children and you can bet your bottom dollar that when the genes for homosexuality are discover, abortion will be the “cure” for that too.

I think that we should use Nixon’s words as an example that abortion isn’t just about offering women reproductive choice, but also offers some very ugly eugenic choices as well.
