The Olive Garden & Hellmann's Dumping Pervert Dave!

It appears that efforts to get pervert David Letterman fired by going after his sponsors is starting to bare fruit. The Olive Garden and Hellmann’s are responding to people who wrote in. here are the emails being sent out.

(h/t Hot Air)

Olive Garden:

Dear [customer]:

Thank you for expressing your concerns about Olive Garden and allowing us an opportunity to respond.

We understand your concern about Mr. Letterman’s inappropriate comments. Olive Garden screens network television programs whenever possible. Telecasts, such as The Late Show with David Letterman, are taped on a daily basis, preventing advertisers from reviewing the content prior to airing. We apologize that Mr. Letterman’s mistake, which was not consistent with our standards and values, left you with a bad impression of Olive Garden. There will be no more Olive Garden ads scheduled for The Late Show with David Letterman in this year’s broadcast schedule.

We have not yet finalized next year’s advertising plan but will consider our valued guests’ opinions when doing so.

Again, thank you for contacting us with your comments, and we hope you will continue to think of Olive Garden as a place to visit with your family and friends.

Hellmann’s:

Thank you for contacting us regarding your disappointment with the program content which contained a commercial for a Unilever product. We never wish to offend anyone and your opinions are appreciated regarding this subject matter. Advertising for Hellmann’s or media buys are done months in advance and unfortunately we can’t foresee issues in the media before they come up. We appreciate the feedback from our consumers and we’ve decided to pull our online ads from the Letterman show from our advertising schedule moving forward.

We hope that this information has given you a better understanding of our advertising practices. Thank you again for taking the time to share your views with us. You can be assured that your comments will be considered as we continue to challenge our perceptions about what is appropriate for us in today’s environment.

Kind regards,
Your friends at Hellmann’s/Best Foods

I know many people believe that since Governor Palin accepted the pervert’s limp apology, the Fire David Letterman movement should end. I disagree. Cynthia Yockey from A Conservative Lesbian and Sebastian Gray from Hillbuzz offer very good arguments why we should keep trying to get Letterman fired. I would like to offer another opinion as well.

One reason why people on the left take below the belt shots at conservatives is because doing so cost very little. Up until now, conservatives react to the left’s outrageous attacks by tuning out, maybe calling the FCC or sending ONE letter of outrage and then going on about their business.

This behavior has led to the left getting bolder and bolder. The culmination being the savaging of Governor Palin that continues to this day. Now think about this, with the MSM has completely come out of the liberal closet, the onslaught delivered against Governor Palin will become standard operating procedure and will be used against whomever runs against Obama in 2012.

Unless we want conservative candidates to go down in flames before they even get out of the gate, we must set a precedent. That precedent must say; “when you cross the line, we are going to hand you your ass on a plate”! Mind you, this won’t stop all the derange jackals, but it will have a chilling effect on the lesser jackals.

So for those of you that are now convinced, fire up that Microsoft Word and lets give Kellogg’s, Mars Candy and Johnson & Johnson a piece of our minds. To make your life easier, Cynthia Yockey is putting together an amazing Fire David Letterman Kit, complete with mail merge instruction!

Proof that it works. Flood them with letters, threaten loss of business and that we will not stand for this sort of thing...and it works.

It goes the same for government officials...they want their jobs, their money...take action.

You are so right it works, however Washington is a tougher nut to crack. I have written and called my congresscritters until my fingers are raw and I was blue in the face. They just don't listen until election day.
