In Zev Chefetz soon to be released book "Rush Limbaugh: An Army of One”, Chefetz tells of what happened when he asked Obama if he would play a round of golf with Rush Limbaugh.
New York Post: When President Obama was asked if he would play a round of golf with his talk-radio nemesis Rush Limbaugh, the response, relayed by a top Democrat, was: "Limbaugh can play with himself."
This is according to Zev Chafets in his new book, "Rush Limbaugh: An Army of One," due May 25 from Sentinel.
The caustic comeback is another example of the verbal venom between the White House and the conservative radio star. In an interview with CBS News last month, Obama called the views spelled out by Limbaugh and Fox News Channel's Glenn Beck "troublesome."
Chafets reports he encouraged Limbaugh to reach out to the president just after last July's "Beer Summit" that Obama hosted between Professor Henry Louis Gates and Sgt. Joseph Crowley, the Cambridge cop who arrested Gates after he locked himself out of his own home.
"You guys are both golfers," Chafets told Limbaugh. "Would you play a round with the president and show the country that there are no hard feelings?"
"He's the president of the United States," Limbaugh told Chafets. "If any president asked me to meet him, or play golf with him, I'd do it. But I promise you that will never happen. His base on the left would have a s--t-fit."
"How about letting me ask?" Chafets said.
"Go ahead," Limbaugh said. "Nothing will come of it."
Chafets writes that he reached out to Obama adviser David Axelrod, "whom I know slightly," but Axelrod didn't return calls. Then Chafets spoke to "a very senior Democratic activist with whom I'm friendly" who said he would convey the message.
A day or two later the adviser responded, "Limbaugh can play with himself." Chafets wouldn't name the aide or say whether the quote was directly from Obama.
That is pretty terse for a campaign that sold itself on being post partisan. However, it is inline with some of Obama’s other veiled retorts. Remember those finger incidents or the lipstick on a pig remark? Which leads me to believe that it did actually come from Obama. Obama is pure a rank partisan who likes to pretend he is above petty squabbles and partisanship. From day one, this administration has been trying hard to take on conservative talk radio and Fox News (without much success I might add).
I can only imagine what the response would be if Glenn Beck or Sarah Palin ever reached out to the administration.

S. Palin & Glen Beck "reaching out"? Will not happen! Limbaugh (while I'm not a constant listener and not really a fan) has more to gain than to lose by engaging the Presidental Chicago Thug Administration.
Limbaugh can be at times pure entertainment (this is not do minimize his loyalty and usefulness for our country), but he's well past the point of "S**t*** in his diapers over Obama and etal. He can take heat and has already proven so, and his income and stature is just fine.
Neither Palin nor Beck are of the Limbaugh genre.Thier moves/stages are different. They are too smart to engage this "useful idot" on idiot issues and suffer the consequences from the MSM and Obama Dolts. They still have to drive a careful road in order to appeal to a greater cross/section of Americans. Palin is getting smarter, like the Artic Fox (I love that) She will track, wait, shoot and reload. What a Woman!
Are they, Palin and Beck, being succesful? Well, they are being successful by staying out of the finger flipping way of this current Administration, and in doing so will be very useful as American Patriots..
I love Sarah. I think Limbaugh rocks. Glen Beck needs to thread a careful needle to NOT become a Palin nor a Limbaugh.
We need all three. And, yea; I can full appreciate the stupid boys room gym talk from Obama, etal. I wonder how Michelle can tolerate such an imbecile?
A few things to note from this-
Obama's ego and Limbaugh's perspicacity in understanding the liberal's psychology (I would go further and say that he is gifted in reading people by assuming their thought process).
Obama's ego isn't the terrible thing, it's his lack of maturity or low-brow behavior. I would rather it be lack of maturity as having someone "low-brow" in the office of the President of the United States is much more diminishing to the office.
It probably would cause him physical pain to be around someone who speaks such truth and can see through to what Obama really is/believes.
I really would have preferred a more diplomatic response, but as Cliff pointed out; Obama has shown time and time again through his behavior that he is not above partisan politics and rather prefers the guy finding the biggest stockpiles of mud to sling.
ps- I just learned to create tags so I hope they work.
That reply shows the level of maturity in the man, and the crowd now in power. Any president that would make such a remark is unworthy of the office. Any presidential flunky willing to pass such a remark along unedited is not doing his job.
Umm, the Beavis and Butthead award of today goes to Obama. Heh, heh, heh..........
I've never listened to Limbaugh or Beck, and never really thought about much of either other than entertainment
It's astounding to me that they would be the focus of so much attention from the President of our country, a leader of a super power.
I've never in my life seen such childlessness and I'm disgusted, and Mrs BO had it all wrong with her saying for the first time she was proud to American, because for the first time I'm embarrassed to be an American.
