It looks like Lt. Col. Allen West isn't the only black conservative speaking boldly this year. Black conservative Les Phillip is shaking things up with this campaign ad. Les Phillip is running for the US House of Reps. in Alabama District 05.
Now how is that for a stark comparison. I like how he adds the "the're not going to call me a racist" line. Go Les!

Oh, I am sure he will get called a bunch of other names though. It is a great ad. I don't know much about him, but what little I have seen, he should do the country proud if he gets elected.
Damn Clifton,
Do you realize how central you are to providing these links? I am so glad you have chosen to take the time to stand up for America and run this blog.
Thanks again for all you do,
Roy Stotts
This is definitely a nerve wracking year for incumbents, particularly those who do political speak and polka. conservative girl, you're right about the other names, but frankly, most of them are as old, tired and cliched as polyester jumpsuits. Thanks for the clip, Clifton.
I don't know anything about Phillips, but I like the commercial.
No, they're not going to call Phillips a racist, but the Left has other names for Black conservatives...
@ Janelle
It's not just the names (and they may be old, cliched, etc. but they still sting and they have power), it's also the attitude and the ostracizing that often comes with it. My wife's been on the receiving end of that crap before. It's rough.
We need to have more blacks like these men come forward to put the Dems in their place. The dem party has historically been the party of racists - voting against civil rights and trying to keep the blacks under their foot. It's past time black men stood up and asserted they are nobodies Uncle Tom for trying to better themselves and their people by taking charge of their lives. Guys like Clifton and Bob Parks are important and need to be supported as well. That's why I like to them on my blog.
WOW! I'm moving to Alabama.
yukio, I have no idea what kind of taunts your wife has received, but whatever they are.......she is light years above the cretins who spew them. Heads up to both!
Just went to his website and contributed.
@ Janelle
My thanks. I wasn't trying to whine about it and it doesn't get us down. It's just depressing that it happens and it's a subject you have to ignore at family get togthers, etc. Sometimes it's kind of humorous. My mother-in-law still refuses to believe that my wife didn't vote for Obama... LOL.
JACG:
Click on his name in the post it will take you to his website, you can start familiarizing yourself with him there. You had better believe he is going to be called nasty names. Over at Left Coast Rebel he links to the ad via Memeorandum. Click on the Memeorandum link there and see what some have said. Pitiful.
Roy:
Thank you! Comments like that keeps me plucking away.
Janelle:
Whatever incumbents are left after the 2010 bloodbath are going to find themselves looking pretty obsolete next to the new blood coming in. I cannot wait.
Yukio:
I bet whatever names your wife was called, I was probably called it too. One day I am going to post all my hate mail. It will curl your hair!
Bruce:
If I had a dime for every brother who has talked politics with me, that sounded like they should be Rush Limbaugh's son yet vote Democrat, I would be able to bailout America. Perhaps if enough black conservatives like myself simply step out of the shadows and speak up, others will follow.
Anonymous:
At least in District 5!
Peg:
I gave to his campaign way back in the day, I think it is time I scape up some more.
About Les Phillips: He was born in Trinidad and, as a child, decided that he wanted to be a U.S. Navy pilot. He achieved that goal at the age of 26. In the mid-eighties, he realized how far America had moved away from its Constitution. He entered politics to strive to preserve the American dream for his children and our future.
