After watching this video, I have decided to keep my eyes peeled to see if Mayor Bloomberg keeps to his words the next time the Christian faith requires the same defense. Somehow, I doubt Mr. Bloomberg will be able to see things so clearly.
While Bloomberg is correct in his words about America defending religious freedom, he like so many liberal elites refuses to understand and believe that the Islamic faith currently has a cancer. That cancer is Islamic extremism. To pretend that this problem doesn’t exist is an invitation to disaster.
What most Americans want is for our elected officials to show some caution when dealing with the Islamic faith. Since peaceful Muslims seem unwilling or incapable of eradicating the extreme elements within their faith, then caution is the order of the day. Treating the Islamic faith with caution may not jive with the sacred doctrines of diversity or tolerance, but attacks like 9-11 make it a necessity.

You have made sensible argrument. Sadly, so many are not. Holding up signs that say things about putting a church in Mecca make no sense, and allows him to make the statements that he is making. What are the people with those signs saying: since the Saudis don't have religous freedom, we don't have to either?
I will always defend the freedom of religion, but this Iman seems to be an extremist and we must proceed with caution. I also think we have the right to know where the financing is coming from. That is not at all clear.
I see no proof of Mayor Bloomberg's conviction that the people behind the Ground Zero mosque are "playing by the rules."
Let's see where their money is coming from, and let's get public with their ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, whose stated goal is "to instill the Qur'an and Sunnah as the "sole reference point for ... ordering the life of the Muslim family, individual, community ... and state."
you are too kind to entertain the treatise - bloomberg is an elitist-pandering opportunist...
no monuments to monsters (what's religion got to do with it?)
This has nothing to do with tolerance. It's inviting the family member of a murder to live next door to the victims, and then accuse the victims of not being tolerant and bigoted.
This is just further prove that *certain/most* Muslim groups have little or no sensitivity to others deaths and misery, in fact, they seem to rejoice in this.
I live in NYC, and this is sickening, considering having very close family losing love ones in that cowardly attack.
Bloom-ass have officially joined the rank of terrorist in my opinion.
