Public Policy Polling: Obama loses to Romney, Huckabee, Gingrich and ties Palin for 2012

Let me begin by making two important points. First, any 2012 match up at this point is pretty much meaningless. Two years in politics might as well be two millennia. Anything can happen between now and November 2012. Tom Jensen from Public Policy Polling states this case perfectly: 

Obviously 2012 is a long ways off and the immediate relevance of these numbers is limited. It's possible we'll look back on polls like this 28 months from now after Obama's been reelected and laugh. But it's also possible that we'll look back on the summer of 2010 after he's been defeated and see it as the time when his prospects for reelection really took a turn for the worse. For now there's really no way to tell. 

The second point that needs to be made is that Public Policy Polling are not a conservative leaning pollsters, quite the opposite. Ed Morrissey from Hot Air explains the leanings behind this poll. 

In case one wonders whether PPP’s sample is to blame, the partisan split favors Democrats by five points, 39/34.  That’s probably overstating the actual size of the gap and the percentage of Democrats in the general population, which means that the independents got short shrift as well.  Also note that this poll surveyedregistered voters, not likely voters — a sampling technique that would tend to favor Democrats and Obama a little more.

With his approval numbers hitting new lows it’s no surprise that Barack Obama’s numbers in our monthly look ahead to the 2012 Presidential race are their worst ever this month. He trails Mitt Romney 46-43, Mike Huckabee 47-45, Newt Gingrich 46-45, and is even tied with Sarah Palin at 46. The only person tested he leads is Jan Brewer, who doesn’t have particularly high name recognition on the national level at this point.

It’s not that any of the Republican candidates are particularly well liked. Only Huckabee has positive favorability numbers at 37/28. Romney’s at 32/33, Gingrich at 32/42, Palin at 37/52, and Brewer at 17/20. But with a majority of Americans now disapproving of Obama it’s no surprise that a large chunk of them would replace him as President if they had that choice today.

There are two things driving these strong poll numbers for the Republican candidates. The first is a lead with independents in every match up. Romney leads 48-35 with them, Gingrich is up 50-39, Huckabee has a 46-40 advantage, Palin’s up 47-42, and even Brewer has a 38-37 edge.

What is most interesting here is the Obama/ Palin tie. This is a left leaning poll and Obama cannot best the left’s worst nightmare Sarah Palin. A few of you regular readers worry that Palin is damaged goods and could never win in 2012. Well, this poll makes clear that Obama is also damaged goods and Palin has a fair chance of winning. The key to the Obama/ Palin match up is who can repair their image the fastest. Looking at the two over the last 18 months, I would have to give Palin the nod. She went from being trapped under an avalanche of frivolous lawsuits as governor to a national champion for conservative views. Obama on the other hand has failed miserably to live up to all the election hype.

As I stated in the opening of this post, two years is a lifetime in politics anything can happen.

Obama to Egyptian Foreign Minister: I am a Muslim

Remember this little slip of the tongue by Obama?

It looks like it may have been more than just a simple slip of the tongue.

Pam Geller at Atlas Shrugs: Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit said he had a one-on-one meeting with Obama, in which President Obama told him that he was still a Muslim, the son of a Muslim father, the stepson of Muslim stepfather, that his half brothers in Kenya are Muslims, and that he was sympathetic towards the Muslim agenda.

Finally, during the week of 14-18th of January 2010, just on the eve of my winter tour to the US, Rachel picked up a Nile TV broadcast in which Egyptian Foreign Minister Abul Gheit said on the "Round Table Show" that he had had a one on one meeting with Obama who swore to him that he was a Moslem, the son of a Moslem father and step-son of Moslem step-father, that his half-brothers in Kenya were Moslems, and that he was loyal to the Moslem agenda. He asked that the Moslem world show patience. Obama promised that once he overcame some domestic American problems (Healthcare), that he would show the Moslem world what he would do with Israel. (more here)

This is according to Israel Today here. Here is the passage from the May 2010 issue of "Israel Today." It is on page 3 in an article titled "Obama, a 'Strategic Catastrophe,'" by Aviel Schneider:

The feeling among the Israeli public is that Obama is appeasing the Muslim world at the expense of Israel. “The American President told me in confidence that he is a Muslim,” said Egyptian Foreign MinisterAhmed Aboul Gheit on Nile TV. 

That could explain why Obama has instructed that the term “Islamic extremism” no longer be used in official government documents and statements. Furthermore, the US is now accusing Israel of harming American interests in the Middle East. General David Petraeus, the head of US Central Command, said Israel’s intransigence on resolving the conflict with the Palestinians is endangering US forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. Even the US Congress considers Obama’s behavior toward Netanyahu humiliating. Three-quarters of the House of Representatives, 337 of 435 members, signed a bipartisan letter to Clinton expressing “deep concern over recent tension” between the two countries, and demanding that it be smoothed over quickly and in private.

“Obama is a real problem for Israel,” a senior official told told Yediot. “He is Israel’s biggest strategic catastrophe.” The newspaper also quoted another official who believes that for the first time Washington has switched sides. “The Obama White House is putting pressure only on Israel but does not expect anything from the Palestinians,” he said. “These American demands are unacceptable.” 

The Birthers all think that Obama is hiding his actual birth certificate because it will show he is foreign born. I think the reason is because it would clearly state that his father was a Muslim. During the election of 2008, having his father be a confirm Muslim would have been just as bad as Obama saying he himself was a Muslim.

Since our press has decided that they will not look into Obama’s history with any detail, we are all left wondering if this statement is just Obama sucking up to the Islamic world again or if he is hiding a Presidential Prayer Rug somewhere in the White House.

Indonesia sobers up from Hope and Change faster than we do

As many Americans are waking up to a Hope and Change hang over, Indonesia appears to have sobered up a whole lot quicker. Indonesians are considering tearing down a statue of Obama as a boy only one month after it went up in Menteng Park.

Apparently a group of 55,000 Indonesians on Facebook, signed a petition to have the statue removed because they feel the site would should be used for a real Indonesian.  Now check out what they have to say about our Poser In Chief: 

"Barack Obama has yet to make a significant contribution to the Indonesian nation. We could say Obama only ate and s (expletive) in Menteng. He spent his subsequent days living as an American," the web page says.

"For the dignity of a sovereign nation, Barack Obama's monument in Menteng Park must be removed immediately." 

Folks, we feel your pain.

Indonesian authorities will consider the petition on Monday.

Obama gets an attitude adjustment too? Well, sort of...

I thought somebody wanted to get combative if Scott Brown won? I guess that like all the other Obama promises were meant to be broken.  Now Obama wants to take a softer, gentler, bi-partisan tone.  In a sit down with George Stephanopoulos Obama had this to say about healthcare reform: 

"Here's one thing I know and I just want to make sure that this is off the table: The Senate certainly shouldn't try to jam anything through until Scott Brown is seated," the president said. "People in Massachusetts spoke. He's got to be part of that process."

"I think point number two is that it is very important to look at the substance of this package and for the American people to understand that a lot of the fear mongering around this bill isn't true," Obama said.

"I would advise that we try to move quickly to coalesce around those elements of the package that people agree on," he said.

In other words, he has not given up on this disaster, rather than ramming it down our throats, he is going to try to sucker an unprincipled Republican into signing on to it.  Getting a few dim bulbs on the right to go along with government take over of healthcare is just what jittery Democrats need to pass this bill. Right now as the bill stands it would be fully the Democrat’s fault for passing it. Add on a few foolish Republicans and the Dems might have political cover and a defense in 2010.

This will be Scott Brown’s true test. Will he know enough not to take the bait? Frankly I am more worried about the usual suspects on the right (paging Snowe and Collins) who will fall for this tactic once a few conservative ideas are thrown into the mix.

Obama’s Speech At Fort Hood: Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Yesterday Obama gave a pretty good speech to the grieving soldiers at Fort Hood. It was good because it wasn’t Obama’s standard fare of self-references and he came damn close to actually stating the cause behind the attack.

Marc Ambinder from The Atlantic says it was Obama’s best speech ever.

Today, at Ft. Hood. I guarantee: they'll be teaching this one in rhetoric classes. It was that good. My gloss won't do it justice. Yes, I'm having a Chris Matthews-chill-running-up-my-leg moment, but sometimes, the man, the moment and the words come together and meet the challenge. Obama had to lead a nation's grieving; he had to try and address the thorny issues of Islam and terrorism; to be firm; to express the spirit of America, using familiar, comforting tropes in a way that didn't sound trite. An excerpt from the elegiac address, below, and the full text, after the jump.

This is beyond absurd. The speech was good, and it had to be to make up for the “shout out” moment. However to rave on about it like Ambinder does only serves to whitewash the disconnect between Obama’s words and his deeds.


The things that Obama said in his speech don’t really seem to match the actions that he and his administration are taking. Here are some examples I found:

It may be hard to comprehend the twisted logic that led to this tragedy. But this much we do know - no faith justifies these murderous and craven acts; no just and loving God looks upon them with favor. And for what he has done, we know that the killer will be met with justice - in this world, and the next.

These are trying times for our country. In Afghanistan and Pakistan, the same extremists who killed nearly 3,000 Americans continue to endanger America, our allies, and innocent Afghans and Pakistanis. In Iraq, we are working to bring a war to a successful end, as there are still those who would deny the Iraqi people the future that Americans and Iraqis have sacrificed so much for.

Bravo to Obama for coming this close to actually saying Islamic fascism killed these soldiers, but let us not forget that this administration is incapable of uttering the words “War on Terror”. This administration, despite tons of daily evidence, seems loathed to label this attack a terrorist attack.

We are a nation that endures because of the courage of those who defend it. We saw that valor in those who braved bullets here at Fort Hood, just as surely as we see it in those who signed up knowing that they would serve in harm's way.

Where is that courage as Obama dithers with General McChrystal’s request for more troops in Afghanistan?

We are a nation of laws whose commitment to justice is so enduring that we would treat a gunman and give him due process, just as surely as we will see that he pays for his crimes.

Where is this commitment to law and justice as Obama and his party uses every trick in the book to force massive unread liberty-stealing legislation down the throats of the American people?

We are a nation that is dedicated to the proposition that all men and women are created equal. We live that truth within our military, and see it in the varied backgrounds of those we lay to rest today. We defend that truth at home and abroad, and we know that Americans will always be found on the side of liberty and equality. That is who we are as a people.

This administration clearly was not on the side of liberty and equality when they sat back and watched Iranians take to the streets over their stolen election. The administration certainly was not on the side of liberty when they came rushing to the aid of the ousted Honduran dictator.


As I said before, this was a good speech because the words fit the moment. It could be a great speech if Obama, his administration and his party would actually live up to the words behind it.

Another “Doctored” Obama Event, White Coats Included

Yesterday’s staged event at the White House Rose Garden was another of Obama smoke and mirror attempts to bamboozle the American people into accepting the Democrats crappy health care reform:

A sea of 150 white-coated doctors, all enthusiastically supportive of the president and representing all 50 states, looked as if they were at a costume party as they posed in the Rose Garden before hearing Obama's pitch for the Democratic overhaul bills moving through Congress. 

The physicians, all invited guests, were told to bring their white lab coats to make sure that TV cameras captured the image.

But some docs apparently forgot, failing to meet the White House dress code by showing up in business suits or dresses.

So the White House rustled up white coats for them and handed them to the suited physicians who had taken seats in the sun-splashed lawn area.

All this to provide a visual counter to complaints from other doctors that pending legislation is bad news for the medical profession.

What the media won't tell you is that the doctors were former members of the "Doctors for Obama" organization.

150 doctors including supporters from Doctors for America, the former Doctors for Obama organization, assembled on the White House lawn today for a Astroturfed show with the president.

FOX News reported:

The doctor made a White House call Monday -- 150 of them, in fact, all costumed in white hospital coats -- to try to help President Obama administer a booster shot to his ailing health care reform drive. 

White House spokesman Reid Cherlin described the assembled physicians, from all 50 states, as the best voices for reform because they witness the current health care system on a day-to-day basis.

"These folks know better than anybody about what works and what doesn't," Cherlin told FOXNews.com, adding that the physicians come from "a variety of groups that we work with."

But the doctors in the Rose Garden were all supporters of health care reform -- and the invitation-only guest list drew heavily fromDoctors for America, a grassroots organization that backs a government-run insurance option.

Roughly 98 percent of the group's 15,000 members support a public insurance option, Doctors for America spokeswoman Megan Smith told FOXNews.com. She said roughly 40 of the 150 doctors who attended the meeting were from the organization.

Cherlin insisted that the doctors "were not invited based on their support for a public option."

So the White House said the doctors were not invited based on their support? Yeah right. 

I wonder who got stuck paying the tab for all of those white coats? Wasting taxpayer’s money on stagecraft like this when we are waltzing with bankruptcy is the height of irresponsibility.

No “help” for Obama from school kids

From the Washington Times:

President Obama's plan to inspire the nation's schoolchildren with a video address next week erupted into controversy Wednesday, forcing the White House to pull out its eraser and rewrite a government recommendation that teachers nationwide assign students a paper on how to "help the president."…

Typical Obama style, make a complete overreach, then claw back just enough to look like they are sensitive to the outrage, but meanwhile staying firmly across the line they just crossed. The “help” language maybe out of the US Education Department’s materials, but is the concept out of the minds of the over zealous leftwing teachers performing these lessons? Methinks not.

Hello, Barak Obama? Jerry Springer calling! [UPDATED]

Last week we witnessed the left’s newest attack against Governor Palin. The line of attack, was what I call “The Jerry Springerization of Sarah Palin”. Basically, Levi Johnston the father of her new grandson Tripp, had been goaded into making talk show appearances and letting out so called “details” of life with the Palins. His tacky mother and creepy sister were in tow for good measure. Needless to say, the media and leftwing bloggers did their progressive civic duty and began lampooning and labeling Governor Palin as Jerry Springer material.

Well, what a difference a week makes. On Sunday, news broke that yet another Obama family member has fallen out of his shady family tree. This one, Samson Obama, Half Brother #672, was denied entry into the UK in January, because […get ready for this] back in November, he gave a false name to the police after being arrested for attempting to sexually assault a group of young girls! Oh, and do you want to know where Half Brother #672 was going? Why to Half Brother #1’s Inauguration of course. Jerry Springer could not have asked for better material!

Actually, Jerry could do a week long special on the Obama clan. In addition to Half Brother #672 , there is Half Brother #425 (George Hussein Onyango Obama) who makes less in one year than the $13 a week “tax cuts” we’re suppose to be getting. ( I would give him my $13 a week, but as a self employed small business guy, all I am getting is some kind of bridge and road thingy). Plus, we should not forget Auntie Grifter (Zeituni Onyango), the illegal alien living off the public dole in Boston! Never mind the fact that there is a big old empty house in Chicago, were she could stay for free until we finally find a way to kick her out for good.

Today Half Brother #672 said he was sorry:

'I have tarnished their good names and deeply regret my actions,' the 41-year-old said.
'I had too much to drink that night and my behaviour was over the top.'

'I didn't want to involve the Obama name, for obvious reasons.

The question here is, would he have said sorry if his last name wasn't Obama and this story didn't make it into the newspapers? Let's not forget, the assault happened in November and he was denied entry in January. So Samson Obama, what took you so long?
