Fox News: House Democrats averted a messy leadershipstruggle, clearing the way for Maryland Rep. Steny Hoyer to become second in command of their new minority without a challenge from South Carolina Rep. James Clyburn.
Under an arrangement worked out in private, officials said late Friday that Clyburn would instead receive a new position, title unknown and duties undescribed, explicitly labeled the third-ranking post in leadership.
The maneuvering was described by Democratic officials after Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., issued a vaguely worded statement saying she intends to nominate Clyburn to a new No. 3 post. The statement made no mention of Hoyer, and officials who filled in the details did so on condition of anonymity, saying they were not permitted to speak publicly about the matter.
Who said Democrats cannot create jobs? They most certainly can, especially when it comes to jobs for themselves. Ed Morrissey at Hot Air explains it perfectly:
Ed Morrissey: When a private sector organization loses resources and has to downsize, it has to make painful decisions on reshuffling their management to account for fewer positions, usually requiring a few demotions or outright exits. Not so in the House Democratic caucus. When faced with the conundrum of fitting four existing leadership members into three positions, Nancy Pelosi struggled hard for a solution — until she remembered her Democratic agenda of public-sector management and decided tojust expand leadershipto accommodate the odd man out.
Something else I want to point out from the article.
A race between Hoyer, D-Md., and Clyburn, D-S.C., for the post of party whip took shape in the days following the election and quickly took on racial overtones. Clyburn is the most powerful African-American inCongress, and he drew a formal endorsement from the Congressional Black Caucus. But he failed to generate enough additional support to overcome Hoyer's strength among liberals and conservatives alike, and it appeared his only options were to run against Hoyer and lose or else concede the obvious and step aside.
After reading this part, I have to say creating that job for Clyburn looks rather patronizing. It is almost like an Affirmative Action set aside, just to keep the CBC happy and avoid the fact that Hoyer would have won with only white Democrat support.
It really is a bad year to be a Democrat incumbent. How bad is it you ask? Well, Steny Hoyer whose seat is usually so safe he uses his campaign cash to help other Democrats is now spending his money to run put ad on the airways.
The Hill:You know the Democrats are in trouble when Steny Hoyer hits the airwaves in his campaign to retain his seat in Congress. Hoyer, whose seat was generously drawn for him by Maryland Senate President Mike Miller, usually uses his campaign largesse to benefit his Democratic Party colleagues with little thought of himself.
That changed due to an aggressive campaign by first-time candidate Charles Lollar, who is making inroads into previous Hoyer strongholds in Charles, Prince George’s and St. Mary’s counties.
Lollar, who served in the Marine Corps, is taking the same no-nonsense approach to going after the previously unassailable Hoyer that has earned the U.S. Marine Corps worldwide respect and, yes, a little bit of fear.[MORE]
In 2008 Steny Hoyer won reelection with 73% of the vote, clearly that ain’t happening this time around. Lollar must be scary close for Hoyer to abandon helping other Democrats and spend his time and money on himself. If anyone had the latest polls on Hoyer-Lollar match up, please let me know.
No doubt yesterday you read that absolutely fraudulent and insulting opinion piece by Steny Hoyer and Nancy Pelosi in USA Today. Here is the statement that has gotten them in hot water:
These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades.
I am truly beginning to wonder about the sanity of Nancy Pelosi.Has she forgotten that this is the YouTube era? Within minutes anyone can pull a clip proving what a two face hypocritical liar she is being with the above statement.
Even without YouTube, the facts speak for themselves. Just out yesterday also was the latest Rasmussen poll that shows:
Thirty-two percent (32%) of voters nationwide favor a single-payerhealthcaresystem where the federal government provides coverage for everyone. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 57% are opposed to a single-payer plan.
Fifty-two percent (52%) believe such a system would lead to a lower quality of care while 13% believe care would improve. Twenty-seven percent (27%) think that the quality of care would remain about the same.
Forty-five percent (45%) also say a single-payer system would lead to higherhealth carecostswhile 24% think lower costs would result. Nineteen percent (19%) think prices would remain about the same.
With data like this, you are left with only one conclusion; Hoyer and Pelosi are two un-American frauds.Especially when they had the gall to conclude their offensive Op-ed like this:
Now — with Americans strongly supporting health insurance reform, with Congress reaching consensus on a plan, and with a president who ran and won on this specific promise of change — America is closer than ever to this century-deferred goal.
Only a complete fraud could say such a thing with a straight face.

I am a black conservative from a black conservative family. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and finally settled in New Jersey. Throughout my life I knew I did not share many of the common beliefs of other American blacks.
For starters, I never took to the term African-American. I have meet too many real Africans who are now Americans, to ever with a straight face say we share something in common other than skin tones. Their history and culture is truly a unique and is a completely different experience from my own. My culture is distinctly American, from the way I speak, think, dress and act and you know what else? I love it! So for me, I will always be an American who just happens to be black.
I put myself and my beliefs out here in cyberspace, to show my fellow blacks that there is something more. That one need not accept the false promise of the next social program, the belief in government as savior or the next Democratic candidate will right all wrongs. That true Hope and Change comes from belief in yourself, in a nation that allows dynamic movement if you are bold enough, smart enough and brave enough to make it happen.
