Scary: Jesse Jackson Jr. wants to change the Constitution to solve unemployment

I am not sure what is more frightening, Jesse Jackson Jr. wanting to spend massive amounts of money we clearly do not have or the fact that he has no clue about how the Constitution works.

If we start with the spending spree, where exactly is the money suppose to come from for free homes, ipods and laptops? As things stands now, Democrats had to lie their ass off just to fool enough people into believing we could afford ObamaCare. Furthermore, how does free Ipods and laptops improve life for ghetto kids?  Just because one has those items doesn't mean you will utilize them for educational purposes.

Jackson's idea of calling things like housing, education and healthcare "rights" shows such a complete misunderstanding of what our Constitution does.  Our constitution was not designed to "give" rights to people.  It was designed to protect our God given rights i.e. life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  These rights belong to every man, woman and child from the moment they are born.  Thus they can never be granted or taken away.  Our constitution exist to safeguard these universal God given rights from a tyrannical government.

The things that Jesse Jr. wants the Constitution to protect as rights are the very things, if government is kept in check, we are all free to pursue on our own and to the degree that satisfies us individually. It is this complete misunderstanding of how our nation is suppose to work why I caution fellow conservatives about changing the Constitution in this day and age.  Currently, we do not have enough adults on either side of the aisle to responsibly modify the nation's guiding law.

Yes Nancy, we are quite serious! VA judge rules ObamaCare’s individual mandate unconstitutional

Do you remember when Nancy Pelosi got on her high horse when asked about the constitutionality of the individual mandate?

I guess Nancy is taking things a little more seriously now.
The New York Times: A federal judge in Virginia ruled on Monday that the keystone provision in the Obama health care law is unconstitutional, becoming the first judge to invalidate any part of the sprawling act and ensuring that appellate courts will receive contradictory opinions from below.
The judge, Henry E. Hudson of Federal District Court in Richmond, said the law’s requirement that most Americans obtain insurance exceeded the regulatory authority granted to Congress under the Commerce Clause.[…]
In a 42-page opinion, Judge Hudson wrote: “Neither theSupreme Court nor any federal circuit court of appeals has extended Commerce Clause powers to compel an individual to involuntarily enter the stream of commerce by purchasing a commodity in the private market.”
Allowing Congress to exert such authority, he said, “would invite unbridled exercise of federal police powers.”
Ah, and there in lies the heart of the matter.  If government can force you to buy health insurance, then what other products can they force you to buy.  Electric cars?  Fresh fruit and vegetables?
From the comments at the NY Times, it seems that many are convinced that the Feds already have this power because they make you buy auto insurance.  This is erroneous, because one can easily opt out of buying auto insurance by simply choosing not to drive.  There is no way to opt out of choosing to buy health insurance.  It is this clear lack of choice that puts ObamaCare on unconstitutional grounds.
In an editorial over at the Wall Street Journal, the Journal notes that some liberals are saying that mandate or no mandate, ObamaCare will stay:
The Wall Street Journal: Yesterday liberals were crowing that even if the mandate is eventually declared illegal, it's no big deal because the rest of ObamaCare's new system would remain intact. Yet they've argued for years that the mandate is essential to health reform, because the mandate is at the heart of the regulatory machine. ObamaCare without a mandate would mean individuals wouldn't have to pay into a system until they were sick, driving up costs even faster and ruining what's left of health insurance markets.
And destroying the health insurance market was the real goal of ObamaCare from the get go.
Now comes the big push to get the Supreme Court to hear this case. There was a time where the outcome could have been pretty much guaranteed.  Now a day with so many judges doing their own thing, it is hard to say with absolute certainty whether or not the individual mandate will stand.

Publisher adds warning label for the Constitution

There is something terribly wrong when the founding documents that for over 200 years made America the envy of the world requires a warning label.
Fox News: A small publishing company is under fire after putting warning labels on copies of the U.S. Constitution, Declaration of Independence and other historical documents.
Wilder Publications warns readers of its reprints of the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, Common Sense, the Articles of Confederation, and the Federalist Papers, among others, that “This book is a product of its time and does not reflect the same values as it would if it were written today.”
The disclaimer goes on to tell parents that they "might wish to discuss with their children how views on race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, and interpersonal relations have changed since this book was written before allowing them to read this classic work." [MORE]
This political correctness nonsense is really getting way out of hand. It was a sad day when Americans allowed political correctness to gain any currency in this country. So many half-baked and intellectually infirm ideas from Political Correctness have arisen and taken root. It is high time American begin to aggressively reject Political Correctness in all of its forms.  It is comforting to see that so many people on Amazon are calling for a boycott of all books by this publisher. Hitting PC-pushing fools in the pocketbook is probably the fastest way to kill nutty ideas like this.

Are You Serious? Nancy Pelosi Questioned On The Constitution

From CNSNews

CNSNews.com: “Madam Speaker, where specifically does the Constitution grant Congress the authority to enact an individual health insurance mandate?”
Pelosi: “Are you serious? Are you serious?”
CNSNews.com: “Yes, yes I am.”
Pelosi then shook her head before taking a question from another reporter. Her press spokesman, Nadeam Elshami, then told CNSNews.com that asking the speaker of the House where the Constitution authorized Congress to mandated that individual Americans buy health insurance as not a "serious question."
“You can put this on the record,” said Elshami. “That is not a serious question. That is not a serious question.” MORE

You would think that any legislation that would bring 1/6th of the US economy under the Fed’s control would have to stand up to this type of questioning. So yeah it is a serious question.

I believe for Nancy and many in Washington on both sides of the aisle, this is not a serious question because for them, they have gotten way past the stage of even asking anymore. Much of Congress and Obama included, feel that once they are in office they have supreme power to do as they please.  The Constitution is merely window dressing to maintain a façade of liberty.

In this regard, We The People are to blame, for too long we never barked when our freedoms were taken away for the next “free government goodie”.  We never demanded Constitutional conformity for much of the legislation that has been passed over the years. We never demanded that Washington not take side steps around the Constitution and we certainly never demanded that Washington go through the rigors of changing the Constitution legally when no Constitutional authority existed for their plans.

Perhaps if we were more vigilant much of the government largess that is sinking us today never would have come to pass.
