South Carolina First Lady Jenny Sanford files for divorce

From The Washington Post:
The wife of embattled South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford (R) announced Friday morning she is filing for divorce, saying in a statement that she decided to dissolve her 20-year marriage after "many unsuccessful efforts at reconciliation."
Jenny Sanford said "the dissolution of any marriage is a sad and painful process" and added: "I know it will soon become known so I choose to release this brief notice that I am now filing for divorce. This came after many unsuccessful efforts at reconciliation, yet I am still dedicated to keeping the process that lies ahead peaceful for our family."
Good for Jenny Sanford! I applaud her for first trying to do the Christian thing and forgive, but when that wasn't working she did the right thing and dumped the bum.  Mark Sanford could not have been a bigger creep to her. All that blathering on and on about the details of his affair. What purpose did that serve?

Think about this too, Mark Sanford was a guy who the GOP leadership was touting as a 2012 candidate.  Says a lot about why we need change in the COP leadership.

good for her! i'm tired of seeing politician's wives standing behind their husbands while the jerks are admitting they cheated on them & worse staying with them for political reasons- ahem-hillary-ahem.

There's a rotteness that pervades in politics. What's really good for all is spoken about, but in the end the actions of the politicians contradict what is right.

I'm thinking Washington is full of tired old folks(including Republicans) that have wasted the resources of those that make the greatest country on Earth what it is. The Republicans either embrace honesty and goodness, or they'll fail to win anyone to their side. The talk about conserving, and allowing the private sector to flourish is over. Action is what it will take - even if it means firing those that refuse to move out of the way.

Governor Sanford needs to step down, get his financial house in order, work out a reasonable and workable settlement with his soon to to be ex wife and then figure out how to explain to his children when they are old enough to grasp the situation. If he has anY time left over for his soul-mate after that, fine.
Just a cynical guess - but I bet her dance card will soon be too busy.
