“I have two reactions to the election in Massachusetts. One, I am disappointed. Two, I feel strongly that the Democratic majority in Congress must respect the process and make no effort to bypass the electoral results. If Martha Coakley had won, I believe we could have worked out a reasonable compromise between the House and Senate health care bills. But since Scott Brown has won and the Republicans now have 41 votes in the Senate, that approach is no longer appropriate. I am hopeful that some Republican Senators will be willing to discuss a revised version of health care reform because I do not think that the country would be well-served by the health care status quo. But our respect for democratic procedures must rule out any effort to pass a health care bill as if the Massachusetts election had not happened. Going forward, I hope there will be a serious effort to change the Senate rule which means that 59 votes are not enough to pass major legislation, but those are the rules by which the health care bill was considered, and it would be wrong to change them in the middle of the process.”
What this tells me is that Barney Frank has figured out that if Ted Kennedy’s seat can turn RED his ass is grass. Make no mistake Barney will be fine with going ahead with healthcare reform, so long as he has Republican cover. Since there are no Republicans willing to go along with the current version of the bill, ObamaCare can not count of Barney's vote.
If Barney Frank is not willing to stick his neck out for ObamaCare, I severely doubt Nancy Pelosi can scrounge up 218 Democrats foolish enough to pass the Senate version of the bill.
You will remember from the summer, that Barney Frank was Mr. Arrogant. That is because he thought he was sitting pretty in the very blue state of Massachusetts. Oh, what a difference a year makes. Something tells me old fatso will be eating may slices of humble pie between now and November.
I wonder what if John Kerry will have the same reaction?

I have never heard him talk like this. Listen to the American People? What has gotten into him!
Huh? Is this a pod person?
I guess retirement may be in his future! I agree with Opus #6 that he has never spoken like this before.
What? I guess he decided to stop hauling coal in his mouth!
It is long since time for Frank to have retired. He's spewing the right sounding rhetoric for the right time, that's all. He is no more interested in the democratic process than he is in finding a nice little lady and settling down
Let's just hope no Republican nincompoop's mess this up and go along with a bad government heathcare "compromise". Bart Stupak is from my district in Michigan and if Repub's get stupid, I may have to support him in the next election. Steele needs to get busy convincing Republican's to grow a spine this time around, or allow Scott Brown to show RNC some good, spine strengthening exercises. If they don't, this was probably their last win for a good long while!

What has gotten into Barney? If I had to guess, I would say the fear of God!
JACG:
Nope it is Barney, but now realizes that his big mouth might have written a check his fat ass cannot cash. See you at the polls in November Barney!
Ron B:
He has never spoken like that before, because he never felt his seat was in jeopardy before.
Suppergranny:
LOL! Good one!

Barney is long over due for a forced retirement. I hope Massachusetts sends him packing in November.
Mary from Michigan:
You are so right. I hope Republicans don't fall for the trap of trying to work with Democrats to fashion a compromise bill on healthcare. Instead they should demand everyone works on the deficit and jobs. Leave healthcare reform until after 2012 when more responsible officials are elected.
Does the word bipartisan make anyone else want to sink their teeth into the neck of any politician who uses it?
Just wondering: has anyone heard from Frank Rich or Valerie Jarrett since Browns victory? Wonder what they have to say, hmmmm?
