POTUS needs TOTUS to talk to 6th Graders?

No my friends this is not a Photoshopped photo. It is the real deal. Right now a whole lot of folks on both sides of the aisle are starting to see Obama in less than a perfect light, this picture is not going to help one bit. If anything it sums up one of the major complaints about Obama, he has no substance.

On a more serious note, Dan Reihl at Reihl World view tells us what this speech was about:
Update 2: Elevated from comments - So, Obama needed a teleprompter because he was intro-ing a program that paves the way for a Federal curriculum? Hmm. Not so funny, anymore.

What is even more disturbing than the need to whip TOTUS out to talk to school kids is the purpose of Obama's visit to that school. He was announcing his desire to put billions more into his program "Race to the Top" (RttT in Obamaland cutespeak) and also create a means for school districts to bypass the authority of their State Boards of Education in order to apply for federal RttT funds. What is so disturbing about this? One of the requirements of winning this federal grant money is that local school districts must contractually agree to adopt federal curriculum guidelines, even those that have not yet been defined by the Obama Administration. Yup....the federal core curriculum issue rears its ugly head again.
Obama created the local school district bypass to these federal dollars in response to Rick Perry's decision for Texas to opt out. Obama can't stand Perry and the State of Texas....and was not about yield the chess board.

There is no doubt some remaining Kool Aid drinkers who see nothing wrong with bypassing State Boards of Education to take the money and adopt yet defined Federal curriculum standards.  Well for those folks, allow me to paint a scenario that should help you see the light.

Picture it, Washington 2013; Madame President Palin enacts sweeping changes to the Department of Education. She uses Obama’s RttT program to introduce the Intelligent Design Theory into Federal curriculum standards. Children across the nation are now allowed to study theories other than evolution in the classroom.

Presidents may come and go but these programs tend to last forever.  All this bypassing local authority may seem peachy keen when your party is in power, but have you thought about what happens when they are not?

The highest IQ in the history of highest IQ to sit in the Oval Office has issues addressing sixth graders.

The Department of Education is yet another example of Congress spending taxpayer money foolishly. Race to the Top is more G.I.V.E, which morphed into S.E.R.V.E.
Indeed, very funny until you listen to the speech.

Bribes. The federal government dangles money in front of your face and urges you to sell your birthright in order to get it.

And people sell it.

You would think such a smarty would know his material cold and could wing it by now.

You are so right about the speech not being funny. I tried to play down the funniness of the ubiquitous teleprompter so that we would all notice this RttT program. That is where the horror is.

Worse yet, they don't even notice the vicious circle. It is their own money they are being bribed with.
