Rasmussen: Rep. Scott Brown trails Dem Martha Coakley by 9

Rasmussen has released its poll on the Massachusetts special election for Ted Kennedy’s seat.  Rasmussen finds that Republican Scott Brown is trailing Democrat Martha Coakley only by 9 points.

From Rasmussen:
State Attorney General Martha Coakley holds a nine-point lead over her Republican rival, state Senator Scott Brown, in Massachusetts’ special U.S. Senate election to fill the seat of the late Edward M. Kennedy.
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in the state finds Coakley ahead of Brown 50% to 41%. One percent (1%) prefer some other candidate, and seven percent (7%) are undecided.

It is pretty astounding that a Republican would be that close in a race for Ted Kennedy’s old seat. It is believed that a low turn out will help Scott close the gap further. If Massachusetts conservatives and Republicans are as fired up as they were here in New Jersey, then an upset may be in the making.

Granted another Republican senator at this stage of the game is too late to directly stop the horrors of health care reform (you all know Dingy Harry is going to use Reconciliation).  However, a win by Brown in the very blue state of Massachusetts would send one heck of a warning to moderate Democrats. Also, the race is set for January 19. A Brown win would make one heck of an anniversary present for Obama ‘s first year in office.

I have followed this race. I like the guy and he would be better by far for Mass. than Coakley for sure.

This is close enough it could actually happen if Brown can pour on the energy and get some real positive closing lap coverage.

Good post.

Great news. A win for Brown would definitely be a big shot in the arm for conservatism...and especially sweet since it's the seat vacated by Teddy.

Please read and act, only takes a minute!

On Tuesday, the Senate health committee voted 12-11 in favor of a two-page amendment courtesy of Republican Tom Coburn that would require all Members and their staffs to enroll in any new government-run health plan. It took me less than a minute to sign up to require our congressmen and senators to drink at the same trough! Three cheers for Congressman John Fleming of Louisiana ! Congressman John Fleming ( Louisiana physician) has proposed an amendment that would require congressmen and senators to take the same healthcare plan they force on us (under proposed legislation they are curiously exempt).

Congressman Fleming is encouraging people to go on his Website and sign his petition (very simple - just first, last and email). I have immediately done just that at:

http://fleming.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=55&sectiontree=29,55

Please urge as many people as you can to do the same! If Congress forces this on the American people, the Congressmen should have to accept the same level of health care for themselves and their families. To do otherwise is the height of hypocrisy! Please pass this on!!

Will do, Chris..... I've been politely "suggesting to my Senators and Congressman" that they do the same thing for months. But i went a little further - they should be under that system immediately (a test drive of sorts), before one more taxpayer dime is spent to fund the horror. Answers to that have been exactly zero. That's two Republicans and one Democrat. Vote them in and out on a regular basis. If you had employees as bad as this, you would fire them. Think like employers.

I am praying for an upset in MA. Do what you can to bring it home!

Rational Nation:

Spread the word, that is the best we can do for Brown now. The more people know, the better.

Flipping Teddy's seat to Red would be the coup of the century. Old Teddy would roll in his grave so hard, you would swear it was an earthquake!

It would also send a VERY clear message to the Dems.

Chris:

I signed up, but I have to admit it is going no where. Nancy and Harry will [along with many on both sides of the aisle]will have no problem killing this amendment in public. They will not submit to the same bad laws they pass.

Janelle:

That rule that allows Congress to be exempt from the very laws they pass should never ever have been allowed. Now that it is in place, it will take a Congress of Mother Theresas to undo.
