Olbermann finds a home on Al Gore's Current TV?

You just knew that the airwaves couldn't stay fresh for long. It looks like two of America's biggest frauds are teaming up.

Media Decoder: Keith Olbermann, the former top-rated host of “Countdown” on the news channel MSNBC, will announce his next television home on Tuesday, and people familiar with his plans pointed Monday to a possible deal with the public affairs channel Current TV.

Neither Mr. Olbermann, his representatives, or executives from Current TV would comment on the move, but they did not deny that the channel, which counts former Vice President Al Gore as one of its founders, will become at least one partner in Mr. Olbermann’s future media plans.

One of the people with knowledge of the plans said Mr. Olbermann would have an equity stake in Current TV. The people insisted on anonymity because they were not authorized by their employers to comment in advance of the official announcement. [MORE]

I give Olbermann some credit for being smart enough to get an equity stake.  This way there is very little chance of him getting the ax anytime soon.

I don't know how much of a success Olbermann will be at getting more people to watch Current TV.  I for one could not even tell you where Current TV is on my cable listing and if they get Keith Olbermann, I will have even less reasons to find it.

Keith Olbermann to return on Tuesday

Just when you thought the air waves would be less polluted, Keith Olbermann makes a return.

Mediate: You know all that talk about whether Keith Olbermannwould ever be back on MSNBC?

Well whoever speculated about that (me) was totally off – Olbermann will return to Countdown Tuesday night.

From Phil Griffin, President of MSNBC:

After several days of deliberation and discussion, I have determined that suspending Keith through and including Monday night’s program is an appropriate punishment for his violation of our policy. We look forward to having him back on the air Tuesday night.

I think the whole Olbermann suspension thing is just more proof of MSNBC being in desperate need of new management.   Did anyone really believe that all of a sudden MSNBC would concern itself with “journalistic independence”?  If that was remotely a real concern for MSNBC, we never would have been treated to Frat Night last Tuesday.

Keith Olbermann gets suspended for political contributions to Dems

Well, I’ll be damned!

Politico: MSNBC host Keith Olbermann has been suspended indefinitely without pay after POLITICO reported that he made three campaign contributions to Democratic candidates.

MSNBC President Phil Griffin said in a statement Friday: “I became aware of Keith's political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay."

Olbermann made campaign contributions to two Arizona members of Congress and failed Kentucky Senate candidate Jack Conway ahead of Tuesday’s election.

Olbermann, who acknowledged the contributions in a statement to POLITICO, made the maximum legal donations of $2,400 apiece to Conway and to Arizona Reps. Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords. He donated to the Arizona pair on Oct. 28 — the same day that Grijalva appeared as a guest on Olbermann’s “Countdown” show.

NBC has a rule against employees contributing to political campaigns, and a wide range of news organizations prohibit political contributions — considering it a breach of journalistic independence to contribute to the candidates they cover.

A few quick points:

1.    I am not buying for one second that MSNBC did not know Olbermann was giving to the Dems.
2.    I think this suspension is just MSNBC keeping their options open for find a better replacement.
3.    NBC has rules concerning “journalistic independence”? You could have fooled me!
4.    Did anyone check for political contributions from Chris Matthews?

MSNBC? What’s that? Poll: Only 12% rely on MSNBC for their news

Every time I have been subjected to watching MSNBC News, I have always said to myself; "who the hell can watch this crap"?  Today, I get my answer, not many.

Politico: More people are getting their news about the upcoming election from cable television than any other source, and from Fox News more than any other cable channel, according to a POLITICO/George Washington University Battleground Poll released Monday.

The poll found that 81 percent of those polled get their news about the midterm elections from cable channels, like Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, or their websites, compared with 71 percent from national network news channels, such as ABC, NBC or CBS, and their websites.Among cable news channels, Fox was the clear winner, with 42 percent of respondents saying it is their main source, compared with 30 percent who cited CNN and 12 percent who rely on MSNBC. 

The most delicious part of the poll is when pollsters asked about cable news and talk radio personalities

Fox’s opinionated personalities were also rated as having the greatest positive impact on the political debate in the country. Bill O’Reilly was rated as having, by far, the greatest positive impact, with 49 percent of respondents rating him positively, and 32 percent negatively.Glenn Beck was the second most-positively rated personality, with 38 percent of respondents saying he had a positive impact, and 32 percent saying he had a negative impact.[...]

Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh was the third-most-positively ranked, with 36 percent saying he has a positive impact on the discourse, but his negatives far outweighed his positives, with 52 percent saying he has a negative impact.

MSNBC’s personalities were largely ranked as unknown by respondents: 70 percent said they had never heard of Ed Schultz, 55 percent said they had never heard of Rachel Maddow and 42 percent said they had never heard of Keith Olbermann.

[Snicker] Sorry, but I have to laugh over that one. Didn’t Ed Schultz just say the other day that he too could draw crowds like Glenn Beck?  Poor Ed, he may want to start with something less prodigious, like getting someone to watch his nightly ranting.  Otherwise, he could end up all by himself shouting on the Mall and everyone wonder who is that fat slob?

Surprise! Even JournoListers hate Keith Olbermann

We on the right have long ago determined that the Keith Olbermann Show is about as entertaining as watching a special needs version of Barney. What is truly surprising is that the “sick puppies” on JournoList would agree.

The Daily Caller’s latest JournoList findings reveal that Keith Olbermann’s far left buddies find him to be “misogynistic”, “predictable” and “pompous”. 

The Daily Caller: If you were one of the 400 members of the listserv Journolist, perhaps one of the most vicious insults you could hurl at a colleague is: You’re just like Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity.

If the reader holds neutral — or even positive — views about the Fox News hosts, the insult may not sting. But in the cloistered world of liberal listserv enclaves, Hannityism is a cardinal sin. After all, Fox is a “dangerous,” “deranged” “cesspool” that, possibly, the FCC should be investigating.

The feelings against MSNBC host Keith Olbermann, then, must run deep.

“He’s become O’Reilly on the left– completely predictable, unfunny, and arrogant,” said Georgetown University Professor Michael Kazin in May 2009. “To my mind, what they do is no different form Hannity and O’Reilly,” said the New America Foundation’s Michael Cohen, “At least Hannity and O’Reilly engage with the other side (if mainly just to yell at them). They went on and on about how she was ‘part plastic’ and pathetic.  You’d think they were celibate vegans who spent their lives zen meditating.  It was just a whole TV humiliation of her, and it made me feel sorry for her, which wasn’t easy,” Pollitt said. I will never forget the first time I saw Keith Olbermann’s show. A dear liberal friend of mine was visiting and she insisted that we watch Olbermann instead of Bill O’Reilly.  I had heard of Olbermann but never watched him before. For the next hour I sat in front of the television with my mouth agape wondering how in God’s name could my very smart and witty liberal friend regularly tune into this buffoon?

It will be interesting to see how the egomaniac Olbermann handles the news that this lefty peers think so lowly of him. Perhaps he may just take a permanent vacation.

Parting is such sweet sorrow: Olberman splits from Daily Kos

After panning The Won’s oil spill speech, Keith Olberman found the Kool Aid drinkers at Kos up in arms over his comments. What got Olberman’s goat was a diary that claimed he panned the speech to boost his ratings. Being every bit as thin skinned as The Won himself, Olberman had a hissy fit and quit Kos.

For years, from the Katrina days onward, whenever I stuck my neck out, I usually visited here as the cliched guy in the desert stopping by the oasis. I never got universal support, and never expected it, nor wanted it (who wants an automatic "Yes" machine?). But I used to read a lot about how people here would 'always have my back' and trust me this was of palpable value as I fought opponents external and internal who try to knock me and Rachel off the air, all the time, in ways you can imagine and others you can't.

Now I get to read how we pre-planned our anger because 'beating up on the President has been good for ratings'.

If I can understand people's frustration with seeing a speech by a Democratic president criticized in a venue such as mine, why is it impossible for some people here to accept my frustration about the speech? You don't agree with me, fine. You don't want to watch because you don't agree with me, fine. But to accuse me, after five years of risking what I have to present the truth as I see it, of staging something for effect, is deeply offensive to me and is an indication of what has happened here.

You want Cheerleaders? Hire the Buffalo Jills. You want diaries with conspiracy theories, go nuts. If you want this site the way it was even a year ago, let me know and I'll be back.

Real Clear Politics: Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann and Howard Fineman react to President Obama's Oval Office Address on the oil spill. Here are the highlights of what the trio said:

Olbermann: "It was a great speech if you were on another planet for the last 57 days."

Matthews compared Obama to Carter.

Olbermann: "Nothing specific at all was said."

Matthews: "No direction."

Howard Fineman: "He wasn't specific enough."

Olbermann: "I don't think he aimed low, I don't think he aimed at all. It's startling."

Howard Fineman: Obama should be acting like a "commander-in-chief."

Matthews: Ludicrous that he keeps saying [Secretary of Energy] Chu has a Nobel prize. "I'll barf if he does it one more time."

Matthews: "A lot of meritocracy, a lot of blue ribbon talk."

I have not seen all of Obama’s speech, but from what I saw Obama’s solutions seem better suited from what might be done AFTER the oil spill is brought under control rather that how to get the situation under control.   Obama and his administration are still clueless about what the appropriate role for government should be in this situation. There still seems to be this stupid and irresponsible idea to leave BP running the show.

As far as Olberman and Matthews are concern, these two hacks are a day late and a dollar short. Both of these clowns did everything they could to shill for an Obama presidency.  They foolishly believed that a man with no executive experience and no major accomplishments could somehow magically solve the major problems facing America. Now a situation has arisen where you simply cannot fake executive experience and these asses are braying at the moon.

I have little doubt that both Olberman and Matthews will be back to playing their roles as Obama apologists come 2012.

Thou Shall Not Mock The Main Moonbat! This is the decree handed down from on high at MSNBC.  Donny Deutsch had to learn this lesson the hard way. 

A weeklong anchoring stint on MSNBC by Donny Deutsch ended abruptly on Wednesday, and four people briefed on the decision said the cancellation stemmed from an unflattering mention of that channel’s No. 1 anchor, Keith Olbermann, a day earlier.

Mr. Deutsch had labeled his hour on MSNBC “America the Angry,” and Mr. Olbermann was shown briefly in a series of clips of media figures during a segment that pondered what role the media plays in fomenting the public’s anger. The four people briefed on MSNBC’s decision said Mr. Olbermann’s anger about the segment prompted the cancellation of the weeklong “America the Angry” series. […]

MSNBC should not have bothered with the decree, because the cat is out of the bag. Everyone knows Keith Olbermann is the angry white male of the leftwing. Heck even his own colleagues know it, even it they cannot say it.

Dallas Tea Party’s video response to Keith Olbermann

Something tells me if Keith Olbermann was able to do over that Special Comment of his, he might have chosen differently. It was foolish to try to pretend that there are no minorities at the Tea Parties.  Now everyone is drawing attention to just how white MSNBC really is.

I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot more responses like this one.

A brief word on Keith Olbermann’s “Special Comment” on Tea Parties

Normally I waste no time reading anything by Keith Olbermann, because I find him to be a complete buffoon using big words and self-righteousness in a snide display of pseudo intelligence.  However after reading a few of my fellow blogger’s posts on Olbermann’s recent Special Comment on the Tea Party movement, I parted from tradition and read his nonsense.

Basically, Olbermann Special Comment can be summed up as follows:

1. Inside every white person is a racist yearning to discriminate against minorities.
2. Tea Parties are a covert way to discriminate against a black president.
3.  His belief that there are no minorities at Tea Parties proves assertions 1 & 2. 

Lets unpack Olbermann’s nonsense one by one. Starting with every white person having an inner racist. I immediately think of my best friend. He comes from a very a large and very conservative Irish Catholic family. In this large family there are several interracial marriages that have produced interracial offspring.  Where was their “inner cracker” yearning for some old fashion discrimination?  Even on a national level, Barack Obama would never have been president if a large number of white people did not pull the lever for Hope and Change at the voting booth. Where was all of their dormant racism?

As for Tea Parties being a covert way to express racism, clearly Olbermann never bothered to actually go to a Tea Party. If he did go to a Tea Party he would have found that the vast majority of people are mad over government run amuck.  Olbermann cannot fathom this as the true reason because like so many liberals, he simply cannot ever say some of the policies the left pushes really, really suck. Liberals will blame any and everything under the sun before they blame their policies. Look at Obama; he blames healthcare’s failure on the notion that he did not explain it enough, despite giving almost 30 speeches on the topic. So, for Olbermann, the reason must be something else … racism. And at MSNBC, they are all about finding racism even if they have to make it up.

Finally regarding Tea Parties not having minorities, Olbermann is clearly wrong. There are minorities at Tea Parties, I should know, I have been to a few. Granted the number of minorities at Tea Parties do not reflect the national make up. However, when you look at the way minorities who embrace conservative thought are treated, you can see why few attend. Kenneth Gladney was singled out for a beat down by SEIU thugs simply because he was a black man at a conservative event. Look at the ridicule heap upon black conservatives like JC Watts, Thomas Sowell, Condi Rice or Clarence Thomas simply because they do not buy into the white liberal agenda. How many blacks or minorities are willing to experience treatment like that?  But there is a bright side, in the voting booth, where there is only you, God and that lever, minorities are free to express their true beliefs however they see fit. Proposition 8 in California makes that clear.

Finally, I would like to point out that Olbermann’s view of the Tea Parties is merely his own views projected on all white Americans. Think about this, Keith Olbermann attended a predominately white Ivy League school, he lives in a predominately white enclave in NYC and he works for a predominately white cable station. If anyone is finding covert ways of releasing their inner racist, it is Olbermann himself.

Stuart Schwartz writing for American Thinker has a must read article called “The Fat Lady Sings For Keith Olbermann”.  Schwartz is merciless in his telling of how and why Keith Olbermann (and MSNBC too) are headed the way of the Doo Doo.

The fat lady is doing more than singing for Keith Olbermann. And, like most of the other women in the life of MS-NBC's premiere leftist sexist, she's not interested in dating him. Rather, she merely wishes to see his well-padded bottom fade into the distance. 

In sports broadcasting, where Olbermann worked for twenty years, the phrase -- picked up from opera -- signifies the end of the game, the last minutes when hope of revival is past and fans head for the exits. The viewers of "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" have been heading for the exits for the past year as part of a general exodus from MS-NBC.

Olbermann and Maddow Invited To The White House, Matthews In The Doghouse?

In the ongoing war with Fox News, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs admitted that the White House seems to have a problem with the Fox opinion shows of Hannity and Beck.  However, it appears that the White House has no problem with the opinion shows of MSNBC [save Mr. Tingle Legs].

Here's a curious turn in the White House vs. Fox News fight.

On Monday, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow were among several people who attended an off-the-record briefing with Pres. Obama at the White House. Sources tell us other attendees at the two-and-a-half hour chat included Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post, Maureen Dowd of the New York Times, Gwen Ifill of PBS and Gloria Borger of CNN. Perhaps not surprisingly, no one from Fox News was in the room.

This fact quickly turned into ammunition for the folks at FOX. Last night on "Special Report," Bret Baier revealed the information pointing out that opinion hosts from one channel were being invited to a briefing with the Commander-in-Chief, all the while Fox was declared not a news organization.

Funny Olbermann and Maddow both have opinion shows just like Hannity and Beck.  I guess the only difference is that Olbermann and Maddow will gladly shill for the White House.  That really makes you wonder why Chris Matthews did not get invited.  Matthews has made it quite clear that it is his job to help Obama.

One could not ask for a better shill.  Perhaps the White House was afraid that Matthews might try to get a little too freaky with The Won.
