Video: Condolezza Rice vs. Lawrence O'Donnell

Lawrence O'Donnell was badly out gunned and out matched by Condolezza Rice.  At times it was like watching an old fashion school teacher discipline a wayward child.  It is a shame more Republicans don't know how to argue like Rice does. Then again most Republicans don't have a bachelor's degree at age 19.

The best part of the interview is when Rice mocks the idea that Sadam Hussein could have been toppled by Egyptian style protest.  O'Donnell totally set himself up with that question.

As brilliant as Condolezza Rice is, I do have to question her intelligence for wasting her time doing an interview with MSNBC.  Given MSNBC's tiny audience and O'Donnell's hyper partisanship, what was Rice hoping to accomplish?  Then again, one of the Bush administration's biggest failings was their complete inability to handle the biased media.

Nina Easton on Condoleezza Rice

Nina Easton has an article over at CNN on Condi Rice. Nina interviewed Condi for Fortune's Most Powerful Women's Summit. Easton came away with the idea that Condi should be the face of the GOP.

Easton:

WASHINGTON (Fortune) -- Successful candidates follow a simple fundamental rule: Define yourself before your opponent can define you. The Republican Party, which mustered a thumbs-up from only 38% of voters in last week's Bloomberg poll, sorely needs to brush up on the very rule it counsels in candidate-training sessions.

To skeptics in search of a political home, the GOP's image has devolved into that of a minority collection of name-calling, "no"-saying, backward-looking, talk-show bullying cranks -- a definition gleefully perpetuated by Democratic pols. So next time the eloquent and elegant figure of Condoleezza Rice strides onto a stage, GOP strategists worried about their party's future should pull out their notebooks.

While I love, respect, admire and sorely miss Condoleeza Rice, I have to admit she isn’t what is needed in 2012. What the GOP needs to find is a scrappy street fighter.

We are not dealing with run of the mill Democrats. The days of the old fashion Democrat are gone. What conservative and Republicans face are a rabid pack of jackals from the far left. These people know no civility; they are depraved in achieving their goals. An eloquent and sophisticated lady like Condoleeza Rice is sadly not suited to go up against people who are willing and able to break all rules to achieve their goals.

What the GOP had better find is someone who hits below the belt and NEVER apologizes for it (e.g. Sarah Palin and her death panels). When you hit the far left below the belt, they squeal like stuck pigs and feign victim, then they demand an apology. The way to deal with that is NOT to apologize, but instead to stick to your guns and continue to call them out. Again, I sadly do not see Rice capable of this.

That being said, should the GOP get their street fighter, that street fighter would be wise to keep Condi on their short list for her old job as Secretary of State or VP. Condi has a very tough and no nonsense view of foreign affairs. That kind of view is what will be needed to untangle the mess Obama and company are making of foreign policy today.

A quick note on race:

Some of you may question why Rice is so favorable to Obama. Simply listen to the first couple of minutes of the video where Rice talks about growing up in segregated America. You should gain an understanding why she would be proud to see the first black president of the United States and would praise him so. It also should give you some understanding as to why Bill Cosby agreed with Jimmy Carter’s views about racism.

I Miss This Woman!

*SIGH* I miss Condoleezza Rice! Such maturity, such authority and boy what an intellect! This puerile college student ties to play gotcha with Condi and ends up getting schooled instead! "Do your homework first", she tells him! How perfect is that? It is like a double put down, telling him he isn't nearly as bright as he thinks and also conveys that she's the teacher and he's the student! Simply, beautiful! Judging from the sideways portion at the end of the video, methinks they were trying to make an ambush video of their confrontation with Condi. That certainly backfired!

One of the things I most like about Condi, is that she is an adult. She would never have gotten caught with egg on her face and a crap eating grin, all because she tried to be theatrical by giving a misspelled gag gift to a foreign counterpart! Hillary, take note of your superior!

Obama could never match Condi's level of gravitas, with or without the damn teleprompter. Sadly, black conservatives, no matter how superior they are to their black liberal counterparts, are never given the respect they deserve. Condi's educational background and intellect compared to Obama's is like comparing the Manhattan Yellow Pages to a pamphlet! Yet, Obama is touted as the intellectual giant of our time. So sad!

I remember early in the '08 campaign season when little whispers were swirling around the web, that Condi Rice might run for president! I cannot tell you how anxious I was at the prospect. I would have crawled over broken glass to get this woman elected. I would have beamed with pride that the first black to occupy the White House was there because they had the chops, not because they sailed in with a paper thin resume, a smoke and mirrors media blitz or a heavy dose of white liberal guilt!

If only we had adults like Condi in charge now. As we face a weakening economy, foreign affairs nightmares and new pandemics, it would be so comforting to know that these issues were be handled by an adult, rather than someone looking to capitalize on each "crisis".

I miss you Dr. Condoleezza Rice, good luck in your future endeavors and God bless.
