Sarah Has Her Say

Get ready for the Palin media domination. Her Oprah interviews and Going Rogue excerpts are getting out and are causing quite a stir.

The Drudge Report has a two-page excerpt from Going Rogue, here is what it says:

Going Rogue: An American Life
by Sarah Palin
Chapter Four; Section 8, pages 255-257
By the third week in September, a “Free Sarah” campaign was under way and the press at large was growing increasingly critical of the McCain camp’s decision to keep me, my family and friends back home, and my governor’s staff all bottled up. Meanwhile, the question of which news outlet would land the first interview was a big deal, as it always is with a major party candidate.
From the beginning, Nicolle [Wallace] pushed for Katie Couric and the CBS Evening News. The campaign’s general strategy involved coming out with a network anchor, someone they felt had treated John well on the trail thus far. My suggestion was that we be consistent with that strategy and start talking to outlets like FOX and the Wall Street Journal. I really didn’t have a say in which press I was going to talk to, but for some reason Nicolle seemed compelled to get me on the Katie bandwagon.
“Katie really likes you,” she said to me one day. “she’s a working mom and admires you as a working mom. She has teenage daughter like you. She just relates to you,” Nicolle said. “believe me, I know her very well. I’ve worked with her.” Nicolle had left her gig at CBS just a few months earlier to hook up with the McCain campaign. I had to trust her experience, as she had dealt with national politics more than I had. But something always struck me as peculiar about the way she recalled her days in the White House, when she was speaking on behalf of President George W. Bush. She didn't have much to say that was positive about her former boss or the job in general. Whenever I wanted to give a shout-out to the White House’s homeland security efforts after 9/11, we were told we couldn’t do it. I didn’t know if that was Nicolle’s call.
Nicolle went on to explain that Katie really needed a career boost. “She just has such low self-esteem,” Nicolle said. She added that Katie was going through a tough time. “She just feels she can’t trust anybody.”
I was thinking, And this has to do with John McCain’s campaign how?
Nicolle said. “She wants you to like her.”
Hearing all that, I almost started to feel sorry for her. Katie had tried to make a bold move from lively morning gal to serious anchor, but the new assignment wasn’t going very well.
“You know what? We’ll schedule a segment with her,” Nicolle said. “If it doesn’t go well, if there’s no chemistry, we won’t do any others.”
Meanwhile, the media blackout continued. It got so bad that a couple of times I had a friend in Anchorage track down phone numbers for me, and then I snuck in calls to folks like Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity and someone I thought was Larry Kudlow but turned out to be Neil Cavuto’s producer. I had a friend call Bill O’Reilly after I was inundated with supporters in Alaska asking why the campaign was “ignoring” his on-air requests for a McCain campaign interview. I had another friend scrambling to find Mark Levin’s number. Aboard the campaign plane I was within twenty-five feet of reporters for hours on end. Headquarters’ strategy was that I should not go to the back of the aircraft and talk to the press. At first this was subtle, but as the campaign wore on, Tracey or Tucker would call headquarters to request permission, and someone in DC would respond, “No! Absolutely not- block her if she tries to go back.”

Well we all know that Wallace pretty much turned out to be somewhat of a Scozzafava after the campaign. So it makes sense that she was the one pushing the Couric interview. Sounds like a total set up from the get go.

Something tells me that Going Rogue is going to confirm what many of us suspected, that John McCain and his team may not have tried to win this election at all.

Now as to the leaked bits of the Oprah Palin interview, here are two clips (h/t) Ruby Slippers

That second clip may pretty much end Levi Johnston’s career as a Palin Basher. If Palin is willing to turn the other cheek and accept Levi into her family, then Levi would have to be the world’s biggest douche bag to keep trying to smear her. My money is on Levi going for the Mr. Summer’s Eve title. The boy is a dumb as a box of rocks not to realize that he has been used thus far.

UPDATED: Sarah Palin Is Back On Twitter With Book Signing Dates

From Sarah Palin's latest Facebook Note, we learn what her book tour dates will be. In addition, Palin reveals her latest Twitter account: SarahPalinUsa.  By the way, notice in Palin's note below what she says about Michigan.  Is Palin is going to spill all the beans in Going Rogue? I sure hope so, because it is about time we fully heard her side of the story.

Note to Sarah Palin: Sarah if by any chance you read Another Black Conservative, I have a message for you: YouTube, baby YouTube!

UPDATE: Sarah racks up followers

When I published this post, Sarah's new Twitter account had less than 1,000 followers. In less than seven hours, she now has 9,400+! Behold the power of Palin!

From Sarah Palin's Facebook Page:
"Going Rogue" Book Tour Dates Through Thanksgiving
Here are some details of the upcoming book tour. I’m starting in Michigan and you’ll understand why when you read the book. Last year, I made a promise to the good people of Michigan that I would be back, and now I’m keeping that promise. (Michigan is near and dear to my family’s heart! Our eldest son, Track, lived with a great host family there during his hockey days.)
From Michigan, the “Going Rogue” tour will cover as much of the country as possible. I’ve decided to stop in cities that are not usually included in a typical book tour. For instance, I’m looking forward to meeting our honorable men in women in uniform and their families at a Fort Bragg book signing, and to reconnecting with friends my family made last year on the campaign trail in different book signing venues.
We have a tight schedule, but I’m working with the publisher to allow possibilities of stopping at a few unannounced places, too.
I’ll Twitter information when the tour starts, so I’ll post our progress from the road. You can follow on Twitter at SarahPalinUSA.
Below are dates, times, and locations for the first part of the tour – this schedule brings us up to Thanksgiving, where I’ll get to connect with family in Washington state for the holiday. Stay tuned for our post-Thanksgiving schedule coming soon.
Please contact each venue for more information. Can’t wait to see you soon!

Is it just me, or does the outfit she is wearing look like something she wore for the Runners World interview?

Sarah Palin’s memoir “Going Rogue: An American Life” set for Nov. 17 release

Sarah Palin the ever-diligent former governor of Alaska has finished her 400-page memoir early. So instead of being released next spring her publisher has moved the date up to November 17, just in time for Christmas.

From the Associated Press:

Palin finishes memoir, 'Going Rogue,' out Nov. 17

By HILLEL ITALIE (AP) – 4 hours ago

NEW YORK — Sarah Palin (PAY'-lin) has finished her memoir just four months after the book deal was announced. Her publisher says the release date has been moved up from the spring to Nov. 17.

Harper publisher Jonathan Burnham says the former Alaska governor invested herself deeply and passionately in the project. He says the book contains fascinating detail.

The 400-page book is the first for Palin, who has been an object of fascination since Republican Sen. John McCain chose her as his running mate during his 2008 presidential bid. The book will be called "Going Rogue: An American Life."

A huge first printing of 1.5 million copies has been commissioned by Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins.

Make no mistake this book is going to sell, sell, sell. Palin fan will rush to buy the book, those who are on the fence about Palin will buy it out of curiosity and Palin-haters will buy it for opposition research.

Her publisher Harper Collins thinks it will be a big sell too. From The Hill:

According to the AP, the publishing company has ordered 1.5 million copies of the book's first edition -- the same amount the late-Sen. Edward Kennedy's (D-Mass.) publisher requested of the "Liberal Lion's" now-popular memoir, released shortly after his death.

An interesting tidbit, Lynn Vincent is the collaborator on Going Rogue. Lynn Vincent also co-authored Donkey Cons: Sex, Crime, and Corruption in the Democratic Party with Robert Stacy McCain from The Other McCain. So if you want a sneak peek at how Going Rogue might read, get yourself a copy of Donkey Cons.

I for one hope that Palin uses a few pages to deliver a smack down or two to the inept McCain staffers, if not John McCain himself. That dreadful campaign did more damage to Palin than most of the left’s mudslinging.

Allahpundit over at Hot Air thinks Palin may use her book to position herself as a libertarian alternative to Romney and Huckabee.

From Allahpundit:

I’m intrigued by the title, not only because it promises dish about the sniping from McCain staffers but because it hints, perhaps, at her positioning herself as the libertarian alternative to “orthodox” Republicans like Mitt and Huck...

Not a bad idea considering that the nation is getting quite fed up with both parties. In such a case a Palin vs. Ron Paul showdown might be in the making.
