Obama’s Fifth “News” Conference

Tonight I actually watched Obama’s so called news conference. Normally I make it a point to only read his speeches and news conferences because I find it far more revealing and I am not distracted by his teleprompter head movements or rather good delivery. Here are the notes I made during the speech.

Observations:

Obama is walking up to the podium: I cannot believe how many people complained about Bush’s swagger, but not a peep about Obama. He is clearly swaggering up to the podium.

Obama starts speaking: Amen he is clearly using the Jumbo Prompter, no ping-pong head tonight!

The press is completely useless, their questions all seem rehearsed. The whole Q and A part reminds me of when I was in grade school and we had to prepare questions for a guest speaker. We would have to write questions and the teacher would edit them, then when the speaker arrived the next day we would stand up and give our scripted questions and sit back and let the speaker droned on and on and on.

None of these questions are kind that the public would like to know. Here is a question I would have asked: Who the hell is the government to decide how long my parents or grandparents get to live and in their “infinite wisdom” should they decide wrong, can I sue the living hell out of them?

Obama’s rambling, long-winded answers seem like just a bunch of assertions, anecdotes and pure BS. No facts or real answers.

Overall impression

This presser was a waste of time. Everything Obama said has been said before. His arguments for radically changing our healthcare system are weak and would hardly stand up if the media were to actually press him on any of it.

None of his arguments really answer the basic question as to why we need to change the entire system by handing full control to the government. All of his concerns can be address individually for less money, less time and without changing everything for everyone.

Obama’s need to paint Republicans as obstructionist is foolish. Everyone knows that they have absolutely no power to change anything. The real holdouts here are from his party and they are balking because the American people don’t like what he is selling.

Speaking of selling, what is it he is trying to sell us so damn quickly? He is basically asking the American people to sign on to a full transformation of our healthcare system because he says it is broken and this is the only way to fix it. Never mind that the fix is not fully defined in terms of costs, terms of service, etc. Plus he is asking for this at a time when the full effect of him damaging himself by bullshitting Americans on the Stimulus is starting to be felt.

In the end, I don’t think Obama will prevail before August. If anything passes this year, it will be some crazy hodgepodge that gives the government more control but not full control of healthcare.

Barack Obama will never -I repeat NEVER- say to your face what he actually plans to do or achieve with these huge new government programs.... like bankrupt the private health insurance industry. It's all rolled-in in a Trojan horse, while you're not allowed to look inside nor ask any questions Obama doesn't want to ask. Good faith disclosure is simply not how Team Obama operates-

Rather, you get some calculating and specious oratory with styrofoam props to wow the plebes, like the tacky Greek columns in Denver. To him, the revolutionary ends justify the Alinskyite means- so the Dear Leader just tells you whatever he needs to, he knows what’s best for you anyway.

And the truth is that Obama is out to nationalize health care.. they’ll be no private insurance industry left after five years of Obamacare… but of course he’s lying about it.

As for the American public, the reality that Obama is dishonest and out-of-control seems to finally be setting-in; the poll numbers are now headed steadily south- is he already facing his Waterloo on this legislation?

Looks like it from where I'm standing-

I really don't appreciate his assessment of the Gates arrest. obama really hung that officer out there in front of the nation.

Clifton,
I agree with you on since when does the government or anyone get to decide on when someone's life should end because it is too expensive.

The problem is that the B-Rock has one idea, Congress another and the American people another on what needs to be done as far as reform.

Yet B-Rock wants to overhaul the entire system instead of analyzing what works and what doesn't. So let's throw the entire system out. You don't overhaul your car's engine just because you ran out of gas. And that is exactly what is being done.

There needs to be a gradual and tested reformation. Pick segments that need to be tackled and fix them. Don't try to fix everything at once. And above all else write the bill in the simplest terms so that the average American can read and understand it.

The Gates question was a "Look! There's a puppy" (I write about it in my latest post) distraction to take the focus off this horrible legislation. It is very disturbing that our press corps are such ... wusses.

It was a big waste of time and full of lies. Now he's resorting to throwing the doctors and the health insurance companies under the bus along with his grandmother. Even changed the name to "Health Insurance Reform". Let's hope his health care plan goes down right along with his poll numbers. Good post Clifton.

Yes Obama's sale of healthcare reform to the American people has been a smoke and mirrors affair. I often liken it to a shady used car salesman trying to sell you Wonder Woman's invisible plane.

Bluepitbull:

Obama did that because he idenifies with Gates, not as one black man to another, but as one elitist to another. See my new post on gates.

Ron B:

Exactly right. Most Americans are not complaining about their healthcare. The issues that need to be address regarding healthcare does not require a whole new system and the American people know this. To make matters worse, Obama is trying to sell them a new system without fulling defining it.

Actually, I think Obama's Waterloo was the stimulus package, what we are seeing now with healthcare is the delayed effects.

Yeah, I actually watched the whole thing and I am going back to reading the transcripts.

Gates is only the first of many distractions now that healthcare has been placed on the back burner.

We are not out of the woods yet on healthcare reform. The far left demands something for their hard work in getting Obama elected. Obama has to give them something on healthcare. I say he is going to give them some watered down version of healthcare reform and an attempt at prosecuting Bush and Cheney as a consolation prize.
