Stupak Claims He Has Enough Votes To Kill Heath Care Reform

Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) pledged on Tuesday morning to defeat healthcare reform legislation if his abortion amendment is taken out, saying 10 to 20 anti-abortion-rights Democrats would vote against a bill with weaker language.

"They’re not going to take it out," Stupak said on "Fox and Friends," referring to Senate Democrats. "If they do, healthcare will not move forward."

 Stupak's amendment prohibits any insurance plan on a potential healthcare exchange from accepting federal subsidies if it covers abortion. Pro-abortion-rights lawmakers say that language is too broad and would drastically reduce access to abortion.

I have to admit that I am surprised by the number of Pro Life Democrats.  I always thought being Pro-Life in the Democratic Party was the kiss of death.  God Bless them.


This leads to the big question. Will Democrats be willing to take socialized health care without full blow abortion rights in it? We all know that Nancy loves the bill with all the bells and whistles on it.  She got that 2,000 page monstrosity passed with only two votes to spare.  By the time the Senate gets through putting their bill together, will Nancy even have those two extra votes? Time is not on the side of the Democrats when it comes to passing this legislation. The more time they take, the more people find out how awful the bill is, the less public support there is for the bill.  If I had to guess, I would say Nancy and Obama have some bribes and hardball tactics cooked up for just such a plan. 


However it is nice to know there is another roadblock waiting for health care reform.
