Underpants Bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab in Al Qaeda training video

A Yemeni journalist working for ABC News obtained this video. The video depicts the Underpants Bomber Abdulmutallab training with Al Qaeda. When Abdulmutallab was captured he stated that he had trained with others, and now we have proof. What I find rather alarming is that there were so many “others”. Let’s all hope that the CIA and FBI are capable of finding all of them,

So the Panty Bomber is giving up secrets again, how convenient

The Washington Post reports through "unnamed sources" that the Panty Bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, is giving up intelligence to the FBI again. Byron York notes how this information conveniently comes just as the administration finds that Congress Members, on both sides of the aisle, were shocked that Abdulmutallab was only interrogated for 50 minutes before receiving his Miranda Rights. York also notes that Abdulmutallabs new information flies in the face of the administration’s previous insistence that they got all the information they could from the Panty Bomber before he was handed over to the criminal justice system.

The whole story reeks of political opportunism. It really sounds like a story designed to cover the administration’s ass on how they handled the Abdulmatallab once he was in custody. Even for the sake of argument, if the story is 100% true, then shouldn’t we be worried that we lost precious time to act on Abdulmatallab’s information as he sat silent with his Miranda Rights?

Any way you slice it, Obama does not have a security team he has a security circus. It is a circus filled with clowns who are completely incapable of bringing an A-Game to fight the war on terror. No wondered everyone in Washington seems so confident that Al Qaeda is going to strike in the next few months, they must all realize that this crew is totally incapable of preventing it.

Osama Bin Laden claims credit for the Panty Bomber

A new Bin Laden tape has been aired on Al Jazeera.  In this tape Bin Laden takes credit for the failed Panty Bomber.
"The message intended to be sent to you was through the hero fighter Omar Farouq, may God release him, confirming an earlier message that the [September] 11th heroes delivered to you and it was repeated before and after [that event]," he says.
The CIA as authentic has not yet confirmed this tape.  However, should it be authentic, it appears the administration may have made a huge mistake giving the Panty Bomber Miranda Rights and not a good old fashion waterboarding!

There appears to be quite a bit of activity from Al Qaeda as of late. There is the intelligence suggesting that female suicide bombers are on their way here and there is the UK’s updated threat level.  Something is clearly coming down the pike.

Given the shockingly bad performance from Obama’s security people as they testified on Capitol Hill, I think it is time we all stay vigilant and do a little praying, because the group of clowns in charge of our security is not ready for prime time.

Female Suicide Bombers may be headed to the US

It looks like Al Qaeda in Yemen is stepping up their game. ABC News is reporting that Yemen has trained female suicide bombers who look like Westerners and have western passports. These female suicide bombers are on the loose and may be headed here.

Anyone else thinking that the piss poor handling of the Panty Bomber has emboldened Al Qaeda? I cannot help but wonder if this is the reason why the UK raised their terror level today?  Does the UK know something more about this?

Click over to ABCNews and watch the video there, it rather chilling. Especially when you learn that two of the people on the no fly list were stopped in Minneapolis and in Fort Lauderdale questioned and released.

A brief word on Obama’s “buck stops here” speech

Am I the only person who finds it ironic that Obama can stand before the American people and pledge accountability just days after he was proven such a liar about his C-Span promise?  I can almost see the YouTube video of Obama saying how the buck stops here being played over the images of the next terror attack.

As I read the speech (here) I could not help but notice that as Obama takes responsibility, he goes on to tell how the intelligence community failed, but not a word about his own faults. Where was the mention that his initial speech to the Panty Bomber was a woefully inadequate response and full of errors?

Obama details the “systemic failure” [a phrase I am sick to death of hearing] but did the light bulb come on, that tells him these failures are the result to too much bureaucracy? Does Obama realize that big government agencies with layers upon layers of protocols and procedures might actually be the reason why connecting the dots is so difficult?

Obama mentioned us not getting into a siege mentality.  I found this very contradicting to the “defensive measures” he received as recommended fixes. They best and really only acceptable way to fight terror is to be proactive. That means hunting for possible terrorist at the airport, rather than screening everyone. It means looking for the people who will do harm not just looking for the last deadly device used. Of course, no Obama solution would be complete without the spending of money and his extra billion on more screening equipment fills that bill.

Finally, Obama talks of all these failures but still, no heads roll. Even when that clown Napolitano just yesterday admitted being surprised by Al Qaeda’s determination and ability to use individuals to form attacks. For Christ’s sake, where the hell has she been since 2001?  Such a level of incompetence should never be anywhere near a job like Homeland Security. She should not just be fired immediately, she should be kick out the front door with her very own clown shoes! Outrageous!

Meet Obama’s scapegoat for the Panty Bomber Blunder, Michael Leiter

People have been expecting someone’s head to roll in the administration for the complete mishandling of events leading up to and after the Panty Bomber’s failed attempt.  Meet Michael Leiter director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC). Leiter was on a ski vacation when he learned of the failed attack. Rather than return to duty, Leiter took a page from Obama and remained on his vacation as well!

From the New York Daily News
WASHINGTON - The top official in charge of analyzing terror threats did not cut short his ski vacation after the underwear bomber nearly blew up an airliner on Christmas Day, the Daily News has learned.
Michael Leiter, director of the National Counterterrorism Center since 2007, decided not to return to his agency's "bat cave" nerve center in McLean, Va., until several days after Christmas, two U.S. officials said.
"People have been grumbling that he didn't let a little terrorism interrupt his vacation," said one of the sources.
The NCTC, the post-9/11 clearinghouse for intelligence to detect terror plots against the U.S., is under intense scrutiny for failing to "connect the dots" on Nigerianbomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab.
Leiter's spokesman declined to say when the terror-center chief returned to Washington and fully retook the helm of his analysis agency, which is near CIAheadquarters just outside the nation's capital.
If failing to cut his vacation short wasn’t reason enough reason to can Leiter, then his being appointed under the Bush administration certainly is. We all know how much this administration is addicted to “Blame Bush” excuse.

Bush appointee or not, Leiter sounds like he needs to end up under Obama’s busy bus right along with that clown Janet Napolitano. Leiter sounds like he has already surrendered in the War on Terror. In a recent interview with NPR, Leiter had this to say:

That same day, National Public Radio had aired an interview - taped before Christmas - in which Leiter said it is "harder and harder for us to detect" Al Qaeda's improved capabilities.
"We're not going to stop every attack," he predicted, ominously. "Americans have to very much understand that it is impossible to stop every terrorist event. But we have to do our best."
So in other words, why knock yourself out? Hit the Black Diamonds and have a very Merry Christmas! Read the full story, and tell me what you think.

Sarah Palin on Obama’s handling of the Underpants Bomber and the War On Terror

From the moment Janet Napolitano came out with her clown statement that the “system worked”, you just knew Sarah Palin was going to have something to say about how this administration handles terror.

In typical no nonsense fashion Palin points out the emptiness of Obama’s latest statements and calls out the various absurdities of treating terror suspects as common criminals.

How is it that Palin, who the left would have us believe is a hayseed, can in three simple paragraphs so clearly state who are enemy is, the threat that they pose and the correct way to deal with them, meanwhile the supposed “intellectual giant” Obama needs days and days and days to state the obvious that the system failed?

Palin: It’s War, not a Crime Spree
A strong statement from the People's Governor:
President Obama’s meeting with his top national security advisers does nothing to change the fact that his fundamental approach to terrorism is fatally flawed. We are at war with radical Islamic extremists and treating this threat as a law enforcement issue is dangerous for our nation’s security. That’s what happened in the 1990s and we saw the result on September 11, 2001. This is a war on terror not an “overseas contingency operation.” Acts of terrorism are just that, not “man caused disasters.” The system did not work. Abdulmutallab was a child of privilege radicalized and trained by organized jihadists, not an “isolated extremist” who traveled to a land of “crushing poverty.” He is an enemy of the United States, not just another criminal defendant.
It simply makes no sense to treat an al Qaeda-trained operative willing to die in the course of massacring hundreds of people as a common criminal. Reports indicate that Abdulmutallab stated there were many more like him in Yemen but that he stopped talking once he was read his Miranda rights. President Obama’s advisers lamely claim Abdulmutallab might be willing to agree to a plea bargain – pretty doubtful you can cut a deal with a suicide bomber. John Brennan, the President’s top counterterrorism adviser, bizarrely claimed “there are no downsides or upsides” to treating terrorists as enemy combatants. That is absurd. There is a very serious downside to treating them as criminals: terrorists invoke their “right” to remain silent and stop talking. Terrorists don’t tell us where they were trained, what they were trained in, who they were trained by, and who they were trained with. Giving foreign-born, foreign-trained terrorists the right to remain silent does nothing to keep Americans safe from terrorist threats. It only gives our enemies access to courtrooms where they can publicly grandstand, and to defense attorneys who can manipulate the legal process to gain access to classified information.
President Obama was right to change his policy and decide to send no more detainees to Yemen where they can be free to rejoin their war on America. Now he must back off his reckless plan to close Guantanamo, begin treating terrorists as wartime enemies not suspects alleged to have committed crimes, and recognize that the real nature of the terrorist threat requires a commander-in-chief, not a constitutional law professor.

Obama briefed on terror attacks 3 days before Christmas

Newsweek has a story up about Obama receiving a report on possible Christmas day terror attacks 3 days before the Underpants Bomber struck. Seeing how this information was “leaked” by an “unnamed administration  official” I would take it with a grain of salt.

From Newsweek [emphasis added mine]:

President Obama received a high-level briefing only three days before Christmas about possible holiday-period terrorist threats against the U.S., NEWSWEEK has learned. The briefing was centered on a written report, produced by U.S. intelligence agencies, titled "Key Homeland Threats," a senior U.S. official says.
The administration official, who asked for anonymity when discussing sensitive information, says that nowhere in this document was there any mention of Yemen, whose affiliate of Al Qaeda is now believed to have been behind the Christmas Day attempt by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab to bring down a transatlantic airliner with a bomb hidden in his underpants. However, the official declined to disclose any other information about the substance of the briefing, including what kind of specific warnings, if any, the president was given about possible holiday attacks and whether Yemen came up during oral discussions.

Isn't it convenient that Yemen is not mentioned in the report? This is why I question the whole “leaked” thing. Allah Pundit does make a good case when he asks:
[re: Yemen] None at all?  Hadn’t the administration just assisted Yemen in bombing a meeting in AQ that killed as many as 30 terrorist leaders?  Wouldn’t Obama have at least askedabout Yemen as a potential threat?
Call me a cynic, but I think this was leaked on purpose to make it look like the intelligence agencies failed Obama and thus take some of the heat off him for his delayed reaction.

If I had to guess, I would say no matter what the report said, Obama probably wasn’t too concerned. Remember this man delayed his Hawaiian holiday so that he could bask in the Senate’s passing of that dreadful Health Reform Bill.  Obama’s chief concern has always been about spreading the wealth. Anything that distracts from that is given a band-aid and shoved to the back burner.  I have little doubt he will try to do the same with this latest round of terror.

Rasmussen: 58% of Americans say waterboard the Underwear Bomber

Rasmussen has a new poll out on terror and the results could not be worse for Obama and the Democrats. Practically all the changes made by Obama concerning terrorism is not supported by the American people.

From Rasmussen [emphasis added mine]:
Fifty-eight percent (58%) of U.S. voters say waterboarding and other aggressive interrogation techniques should be used to gain information from the terrorist who attempted to bomb an airliner on Christmas Day.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 30% oppose the use of such techniques, and another 12% are not sure.
Men and younger voters are more strongly supportive of the aggressive interrogation techniques than women and those who are older. Republicans and voters not affiliated with either major party favor their use more than Democrats.
Seventy-one percent (71%) of all voters think the attempt by the Nigerian Muslim to blow up the airliner as it landed in Detroit should be investigated by military authorities as a terrorist act. Only 22% say it should be handled by civilian authorities as a criminal act, as is currently the case.

A few quick things to note here, do you remember how many times Obama and many on the left said that enhanced interrogation techniques did not reflect American values?  I think we can safely say that statement simply isn’t true. Also notice that younger voters, the very ones who came out for Obama in droves, are not on the same page as Obama on this one. Finally, Eric Holder may want to rethink all his nonsense about using civilian courts to handle terrorists.

By the way, Shoe Bomber Richard Reid went the Federal Court route. Reid confessed and said he acted alone even though the evidence pointed to him having assistance. We will never know for sure, because Reid went the civilian court route. We should have learned for this mistake, not repeat it.

Read the rest of the poll, there are very interesting results concerning the nation’s view on terror and how government is currently handling it. The results show that Obama’s views on dealing with terror are totally out of step with the public. Perhaps this is why so many Dems are reluctant to defend Obama on this issue.

Obama and the Underpants Bomber round II: “Systemic failure”

Obama again addressed the public concerning the Underpants Bomber’s failed bomb plot.  This time Obama admits that there was a “systemic failure”.  I guess all that clap trap about allegedly and suspect didn’t get his ass out of hot water so no he is going one step further.

“A systemic failure has occurred, and I consider that totally unacceptable,” Mr. Obama said. He said he had ordered government agencies to give him a preliminary report on Thursday about what happened and added that he would “insist on accountability at every level,” although he did not elaborate.
Mr. Obama alluded to the intelligence in his statement. “Had this critical information been shared, it could have been compiled with other intelligence and a fuller, clearer picture of the suspect would have emerged,” the president said. “The warning signs would have triggered red flags, and the suspect would have never been allowed to board that plane for America.”
Well it seems like Obama is finding out the hard way that crapping on the CIA and hampering their efforts has its bad points. This is what happens when he allows Eric Holder to run rough shod over the CIA. The CIA stops sticking its neck out.

Also what is interesting to note here is that Bush faced the same situation [not enough intelligence sharing] almost 8 years ago and many on the left was not happy with that answer.  I wonder if they will be happy with it now?
Oh, and another thing. Would someone please tell the Ding Dong in Chief to put on a necktie? Appearing without a tie and speaking on such important matters only reminds people that he is still on his Hawaiian vacation.

My notes on Obama’s speech regarding the Underpants Bomber and Iran

I just read Obama’s speech to the public on the Underpants Bomber and Iran (full transcript of Obama’s speech here).  Needless to say the speech is too little too late. Three days after what appears to be the grace of God saving us from another 9-11 and Janet Napolitano’s buffoonery, Obama pulls himself away from vacation to speak to the public. This has got to be the most inadequate response to terror yet. Keep in mind Obama could not get in front of the cameras fast enough of tout his shitty health care reform, but to address a act of terror, Obama gets all mañana about it! Furthermore, I found some of the things he said absolutely troubling.

Starting with the second paragraph:
The investigation's ongoing. And I spoke again this morning with Attorney General Eric Holder, the secretary of homeland security, Janet Napolitano, and my counterterrorism and homeland security adviser, John Brennan. I asked them to keep -- continue monitoring the situation to keep the American people and members of Congress informed.
Notice he mentions Holder first and Napolitano second and no mention of the FBI or CIA.  Does this mean that Obama considers this a criminal justice matter?

The third and fourth paragraphs are troubling too [emphasis added, mine]:
Here's what we know so far: On Christmas Day, Northwest Airlines Flight 253 was en route from Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Detroit. As the plane made its final approach to Detroit Metropolitan Airport, a passenger allegedly tried to ignite an explosive device on his body, setting off a fire.
Thanks to the quick and heroic actions of passengers and crew, the suspect was immediately subdued, the fire was put out, and the plane landed safely. The suspect is now in custody and has been charged with attempting to destroy an aircraft.
This is the language of a lawyer not a Commander in Chief. Does Obama think this guy is innocent?  The dude is nursing a charbroiled crotch, we have his toasted underwear and have identified the high explosive PETN, so what gives with the “allegedly” and “suspect” talk? This does not bode well for actually fighting terror.

Of course Obama does a lot of covering his ass in the speech as well, as seen here with the “I” statements:
Since I was first notified of this incident, I've ordered the following actions to be taken to protect the American people and to secure air travel.
First, I directed that we take immediate steps to ensure the safety of the traveling public. We made sure that all flights still in the air were secure and could land safely. We immediately enhanced screening and security procedures for all flights, domestic and international. We added federal air marshals to flights entering and leaving the United States. And we're working closely in this country, federal, state and local law enforcement, with our international partners.
Second, I've ordered two important reviews, because it's absolutely critical that we learn from this incident and take the necessary measures to prevent future acts of terrorism.
On Iran, Obama seems to mention it as an afterthought in the speech:
Before I leave, let me also briefly address the events that have taken place over the last few days in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The United States joins with the international community in strongly condemning the violent and unjust suppression of innocent Iranian citizens, which has apparently resulted in detentions, injuries, and even death.
In the entire six paragraphs devoted to Iran, Obama never once utters the word “Freedom”, instead he uses the term “universal rights”.  WTF are universal rights anyway and where were they ever defined?  It is a bit appalling that an American president cannot think to use or bring himself to utter the word “freedom” when speaking of the Iranian struggle.  Again this does not bode well for a successful outcome in Iran.

Epic Fail: Art therapy rehabilitation for terrorists

If ever there was an example for the desperate need for common sense in Washington, this is it.

Two of the four men who plotted the Detroit bombing were released Gitmo detainees.  What is even more shocking is that these men were released to Saudi Arabia under; now get this, an “art rehabilitation program”.

From ABC News
Two of the four leaders allegedly behind the al Qaeda plot to blow up a Northwest Airlines passenger jet over Detroit were released by the U.S. from the Guantanamo prison in November, 2007, according to American officials and Department of Defense documents. Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for the Northwest bombing in a Monday statement that vowed more attacks on Americans.
American officials agreed to send the two terrorists from Guantanamo to Saudi Arabia where they entered into an "art therapy rehabilitation program" and were set free, according to U.S. and Saudi officials.
Guantanamo prisoner #333, Muhamad Attik al-Harbi, and prisoner #372, Said Ali Shari, were sent to Saudi Arabia on Nov. 9, 2007, according to the Defense Department log of detainees who were released from American custody. Al-Harbi has since changed his name to Muhamad al-Awfi.
Both Saudi nationals have since emerged in leadership roles in Yemen, according to U.S. officials and the men's own statements on al Qaeda propaganda tapes.
Both of the former Guantanamo detainees are described as military commanders and appear on a January, 2009 video along with the man described as the top leader of al Qaeda in Yemen, Abu Basir Naser al-Wahishi, formerly Osama bin Laden's personal secretary.

Am I the only one who thinks that this art therapy rehabilitation program was designed by the Saudis as a mockery of politically correct thinking?  It is almost like they knew some ding dong in America would fall for this BS.

Now many on the left are jumping up and down pointing to the fact that these guys were released under the Bush administration. While it is correct that the Bush administration has to answer for this blunder, let us not forget exactly where the pressure to close Gitmo comes from.  The very same folks who are happy to blame Bush for this one are also the same folks who urgently want Gitmo closed.

A little bit of common sense would have made clear that the Saudi program was a sham and that Gitmo is the proper place for these terrorist to be, even if that means indefinitely.

Great Balls of Fire: Photos of the Underwear Bomber’s briefs

ABC News has released photos of the Underwear Bomber’s [is that what we are calling him now?] briefs.

From ABC News
In the second photo (below), the packet of actual explosive powder has been removed from the underpants and displayed separately.
It is a six-inch long packet of the high explosive chemical called PETN, less than a half cup in volume, weighing about 80 grams.
A government test with 50 grams of PETN blew a hole in the side of an airliner. That was the amount in the bomb carried by the so-called shoe bomber Richard Reid over Christmas 2001.
The underpants bomb would have been one and a half times as powerful.
I have been reading here and there about the left side of the web how some people think Abdulmutallab was not a threat because he was basically a f--- up.  I would like to point out that any man willing to place a high explosive like PETN that close to his family jewels is serious as a heart attack about what he wants to accomplish. I certainly would not put an explosive anything anywhere near my manhood, nor would 99.9% of men across the globe. So any man willing to do something like this should be taken seriously.

Another thought that we all should be keenly aware of in the aftermath of the Underpants Bomber is that the Naked Scanner is coming to an airport near you!
