Sen. Joe Lieberman on Maj. Hasan: “Home Grown Terrorist”

Kudos to Joe Lieberman for not turning away from the truth. There appears to be quite a bit of denial on the left as to Hasan being a terrorist, even though we have strong evidence of his ties to radical Islam.

Mr. Lieberman, appearing on "Fox News Sunday," cautioned that it remained too early to draw any definitive conclusions. He said his comments were based on "reports that we are receiving" about Mr. Hasan's actions and comments.
The Army's top officer, Gen. George Casey, wouldn't rule out that the shooting was an act of terrorism, but cautioned against speculation at this point. "We all want to know what happened and what motivated the suspect, but we need to … let the investigation take its course," he told ABC News's "This Week."
Mr. Lieberman said that if news reports were true that Mr. Hasan had turned to Islamic extremism, "the murder of these 13 people was a terrorist act and, in fact, it was the most-destructive terrorist act to be committed on American soil since 9/11."
"We don't know enough to say now, but there are very, very strong warning signs here that Dr. Hasan had become an Islamist extremist and, therefore, that this was a terrorist act," Mr. Lieberman added.
I fail to see why we should all shy away from the obvious. Hasan clearly was involved with radical Islam. What we should be doing is finding out how this guy was able to hide in plain sight for so long.

Aunt Amelia brought up Political Correctness hampering the investigation in the comments section here.  I believe she is correct that PC could easily demoralize our troops and is probably the main reason why Hasan was not removed from the military sooner. Political Correctness has no place in war or the military, deadly consequence will always be the result.

Clearly this is domestic terrorism. The minute that someone shouts, "Allahu Akbar!!!" and starts shooting, there is no other option. Strangely, the msm have gone out of their way to clean this guy up and make him look presentable.

The chain-of-command involved in Maj Hassan need to be help accountable and should all be relieved or at least have this documented. This needs to be a wake up call in the EO-EEO Army community that tends to whitewash over things unless they are related to white imperialism and white male racism. Time to revamp, and rethink what true discrimination is about.

Even at this late date they are still trying to avoid the obvious.

I believe that the reason why Hasan got away undetected for so long is straight up Political Correctness. Fear to call out radical Islam for what it is. This foolish notion to paint all Muslims as peace loving is absurd. Some are and some are not! Time to start acting that way.

I read some about PC, its origins etc., and put some thought into it. I'm a non-confrontational type, and try to be thoughtful with other people, but sometimes the truth is more important than kindness. I was a drunk, and if people had always been kind and sensitive to me, I'd still be a drunk.

As a society, that's even more true. To put sensitivity above the truth is suicidal. There is nothing wrong with telling Muslims, we don't like it worth a damn that you tolerate this cancer in your midst. Talking nice isn't going to fix it.

There was an old say that goes "the truth shall set you free". I think it is time we return to those days.
