Video: Alvin Greene’s campaign video

The New York Times: Alvin Greene, the Democratic candidate for Senate in South Carolina, who emerged at a public campaign event for the first time last weekend, is now out with his first campaign video. The video, called, “Alvin Green Is On the Scene,” is a 3-minute hip-hop mix, featuring extensive footage of LeBron James — perhaps an allusion to how Mr. Greene intends to make the Nov. 2 election a slam dunk.

With lyrics like this:
Well, Greene’s a new face in politics,
And he don’t show porno to college chicks.
But he’s got some ideas that’ll fix the state,
So open up your minds and stop the hate.
I am completely at a loss for words.

Can you imagine this man in the Senate?

Is this a joke? I mean really, is this for real?

You guys need a sense of humor. I feel like paypal(ing) the guy some cash just to see more videos like this.

If I had a few politically aware friends I would send them a link.

That rap video was better than 60% of the other stuff rappers put out. I want my own rap video. If Alvin can do this with the single sentence speaking skills than I should be able to outsell Lil' Wayne.

I hope he wins just for the comic relief. The Democratic Party needs a man like him.

the ag saga is "very interesting", totally perplexing to me...

regardless, expect this sort of approach to campaigning to catch-on and go "mainstream"; just like rap entertainment in general: great in small doses, can be effective, even arresting (in quantity, becomes deadening, even oppressive)

catchy, attention-getting (til it also becomes passe) and easier than taking issues head-on - perfect for our ADD-challenged populace (i know, the last is gratuitously mean)

I have some words: Too bad he's not running against Harry Reid. He'd win in a landslide - a real one and not the imagined one Barry won against McCain by, in the minds of Dummycraps who spout such nonsense.

Has it been confirmed that it was indeed Alvin Greene who released this video, or is it someone impersonating him?

I suspect that Shay is onto something, but it's too late; I'm gonna vote for him anyway!

Oh Boy!

That's a veritable "style faux pas."

Worse yet, that clumsy last line that intimates that any who oppose Alvin Green are "haters," is inane and counterproductive.

It's generally NOT a good idea to insult the electorate or attempt to bully them into voting for you, "because if they don't, it must be because their bigots."

But I've seen Green's first speech and I guess this is just about par for the course.
