Protesters cause $7.5 million in damages to marble in WI's Capitol

Journal Sentinel: Madison - State officials said Thursday that damage to the marble inside and out the State Capitol would cost an estimated $7.5 million.
Cari Anne Renlund, chief legal counsel for the state Department of Administration, said in Dane County court that estimates of damage to marble includes $6 million to repair damaged marble inside the Capitol, $1 million for damage outside and $500,000 for costs to supervise the damage.
Much of the damage apparently has come from tape used to put up signs and placards at the Capitol.
It was not immediately clear how the estimates were made, though the state is apparently relying on opinions by historical architects, one of whom works for the U.S. Park Service.
One concern is the residue from tape that the state says is causing damage to stone and other surfaces inside the Capitol.
No one should really be surprise.  Many of the lefty protesters are rude disrespectful slobs.  I am not just saying this like some elitist conservative. Time and time again we have seen video and pictures of their rude behavior, inconsiderate actions and thoughtless littering from various protest.
Remember how the lefties left the mall after Obama's inaugural?

Or the mess they left after the One Nation rally?

Or how about how they treated the Veterans Memorial in the WI Capitol?
Why do they do this you ask?  It is because they simply do not believe in any of the institutions unless those institutions serve their purpose.  Consider it the end result of living your live by "the ends justify the means".
Update: Left Coast Rebel has a similar take, check it out here.

They do this because they have never learned to respect anything, whether it be this country, private property, public property and particularly they don't respect a government of the people, by the people, for the people. (And you can bet if this had been the Tea Party, the live coverage would be wall to wall and the headlines would cover the entire top fold of the NT Times every day)

Quality post, as always, brother! The thing is...eventually one of these idiots is going to try and bully the wrong person.

$7.5 MILLION to clean up litter?

You are choosing to champion government waste over the First Amendment for the sake of a cheap point.

Perhaps the Libyan Government should issue a statement saying that the U.S. Government should surrender?

Might throw in inconsiderate too.

The double standard between how the TEA Parties were covered and how these protest are covered is beyond striking.

For the TEA Parties the focus was everything negative, for these protest "see no evil" is the order of the day.

Which is exactly why I do not understand why the WI senate Repubs. have allowed this to drag out so long.

You should have READ the article. Had you did, you would have learned the $7.5 million isn't to "clean up litter", it is to repair damage to the marble.

Furthermore, since when does free speech require destruction or defacing of property?

Wesley:

LOL, I think some of those protester might like that.

Should come out for public sector employee's next year's budget. Especially those cops who dress in UNIFORM to take a political stand.

Free speech doesn't mean it should come with destroying other's property.

But since the uniform public sector unionized cops were on the side of the protesters and refused to kick them out, it make the most sense the cops on duty should be paying for this.

2nd Anony.

The do it because they believe somebody else will clean it up. It's always somebody else, for everything.
