Bristol, Bristol, Bristol what on earth are you thinking?
US Weekly: Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston reveal exclusively in the new Us Weekly that they are getting married.
And, they tell Us Weekly, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been kept in the dark about their plans ... until now.
"We got engaged two weeks ago," Bristol, 19, tells Us Weekly. "It felt right, even though we don’t have the approval of our parents."
Bristol and Levi, 20 -- who famously called off their previous engagement two weeks after welcoming son Tripp in December 2008 -- tell Us Weekly they reconnected three months ago while working out a custody plan for their 18-month-old son.
"I really thought we were over," Levi tells Us Weekly. "So when I went, I had no hope. I think we both just started talking — and then we took Tripp for a walk."
Says Bristol, "When he left that night, we didn’t hug or kiss, but I was thinking how different it was. He texted me: 'I miss you. I love you. I want to be with you again' ... I was in shock."
She was in shock? Todd and Sarah are going to be in mega shock when they find out this news. Bristol really needs to do some serious thinking about this. First, letting her parents find out via a tabloid is shameful. Second, making up with someone who transgressed against your family is a little hard for me to grasp. Then again, all we only really know about Levi is from the news, Bristol is the one who knows him intimately. Perhaps he really is sincere and that is for Bristol to decide.
Personally, I think selling lies about a family’s private life is an unforgivable sin and no amount of Mea Culpas could change that. I think of my two sisters who are far better Christians than I am, and I cannot imagine either of them giving a guy like Levi a second chance. Sure they could forgive him, but they would never ever allow him the opportunity back into the family again.
Politically, if Levi is truly reformed, this is an up for Palin. If she runs, she won’t have to worry about Levi creating tabloid news ever five minutes. Sarah released a very tactful statement to Good Morning America. Notice the part about redemption.
"As parents, we obviously want what is best for our children, but Bristol is ultimately in charge of determining what is best for her and her beautiful son," Sarah and Todd Palin said in an exclusive statement to "Good Morning America." "Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives."
"We pray that, as a couple, Bristol and Levi's relationship matures into one that will allow Tripp to grow up graced with two loving parents in his life," they said.
I think it is safe to say that Sarah does not have that level of redemption for Levi (I know I don’t). It is pretty obvious that Bristol’s choice certainly isn’t shared by Sarah.
In the end, I hope it all works out. The Palins have had to endure so much simply because the left feels threatened.

Good grief! What the heck is Bristol thinking? Levi will do nothing but bring more trouble to her and her family. The possibilites are endless for the problems he will surely cause Sarah, if she should decide to run for President.
Frankly, I'm not a Palin fan, I don't find her any more enduring that the clown we have in office right now. Only difference is she's on OUR side, but she's just as magnomanical especially after the stupid "acting like retards" incident. However, as for this, the woman is either stupid or desparate. This man has shown nothing but disdain and hatred towards the family, just like the leftist media, he claims he wants to join. Brisol needs to grow a brain because this guy will be nothing but a source of problems and since he'll be family, it can only bring them down, not up. Should he be reformed, then perhaps, but I find it hard to believe this self centered twit (Levi) has changed that much. If he's so redeemed, then why did she keep them seeing each other a secret for 3 months? Why did she use the tabloids (there's a source I want to rely on for family announcements. phffff.) to inform everyone? Something is definately not right with this picture.
having seen teen-age+ kids from all stripes of families... what on earth is bristol thinking? (blank space goes here)
on the otherside, appreciate your personal-reflection commentary
usa kids - check out the salacious, heidonistic, narcisstic, celebrity-driven material that passes for culture in the "adult-oriented media" these days - is there any wonder?
Mom and dad are clearly brunettes. Where did that very blonde hair come from on the kid ?
I guess it could be from a grandparent or further back.
Having kids is genetic roulette and there's no way to tell what traits (or hair/eye color) the kids will have or who they will come from - not just parents or grandparents, but ancestors.

So thanks to the naiveness of Bristol, Levi now doesn't have to pay child support and gets to free load off of Bristol's money from her speeches and her consulting business. Amazing she can't see she is getting played. So how Sarah is going to be dragged into this yet again.
I'm sincerely hoping for the best for everyone's sake.
Yeah, it's possible that Levi might just be desperate to avoid child support, but none of us are in any position to discern that. How terrible is it, though, that the possibility crosses my mind that he's been put up to getting close to the Palins again to really take her down this time, never mind that marriage, a child, and a family are involved? But in this bizarre world we've entered, where Palin's enemies have grown so deranged that they consider it just fine to move in right next door to her family's private home in order to write a hit piece "biography", fine to brazenly lie and make up whatever you want about the woman, fine to file frivolous lawsuit after frivolous lawsuit, fine to make jokes about raping her daughter and murdering her son, and so on, the thought of this guy who's already proven himself to be of low character being the ultimate mole is not that far beyond credulity. What a world.
I too believe in forgiveness, but maturity has shown me that forgiveness doesn't mean letting the person back into your life.
Every marriage/relationship has ups and downs. Some of which are much more major than others. I personally gave another chance to someone who did something horrible and damaged the trust, we have been able to rebuild it, but it took a year, it also wasn't done on national television. What I find so amazing is the short period of time she was able to forgive and move on.
I also think that this further damages Sarah in an attempt run for president. He appears to be trash. As I have never met the kid, I don't know, but it certainly appears that way from a distance. One more thing for her to be attacked upon.

This is none of our business, it's a family issue, not of any interest to outsiders and better left to tabloids. I find this unhealthy public meddling in the private lives of any political "celeb" disgusting, no matter their political orientation.
I want to vomit in all of their mouths...even Sarah's. Bleh. No thanks and W T F?? :)N
Sarah Palin, and her husband, need to make a pact to never discuss anything with the couple. Keep all conversations to the level of discussing the weather.
Levi can't be trusted....ever.
Re: the blond hair. It's not at all uncommon for children of two dark-haired Caucasian parents to have blond hair when they're little. I'm a dark brunette, my husband is a red head, and both of our sons had blond hair until first grade. (Now in their teens, they both have dark brown hair).

If memory serves me right, Reagan had a problem when he ran in 80' that can be summed in 2 words: Patti Davis. It is well-documented that she smoked pot on the property of the Governor's Mansion, when Reagan was Governor of California. She was in constant conflict with Ron and Nancy, which lasted until Ron was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Patti's actions did not seem to hurt his election in 80' and he won in a landslide.
If I had to dip my oar in, I would say Bristol is flying blind in this. But, as someone said, it's not our concern. I'm still stunned by this, however.
Whatever happened to Christianity? Or are all social conservatives hypocrites? Given how judgmental they are, I conclude the latter.
That's pretty shallow Joe. Absolutely no imput to the discussion and a broad attack on conservatives.
I have friends, a couple whose parents were natives to England, both the husband and wife have brown hair. When both were babies, and young children, they had blond to very fair hair, which darkened as they grew older. Their kids had very blond hair as babies/small children, which darkened as they grew.
All I could think when I read about this was, that Levi might be up to getting attached to Bristol again, to find an opportunity to create a scandal, get himself more attention and then money. He worked his previous relationship with her for his own profit, but that faded away.
I can well understand why Palin would be upset about this, because as a mom, someone who has lived a lot longer and seen much more, that a guy who truly loved your daughter, wouldn't have dumped her and then tried to hurt her, their baby and her family for money. Levi is a bad penny. Bristol is so young, and she has to still be in love with him. She doesn't see that this young man is looking to use her.. she and her baby will be in my prayers. I haven't made up my mind as yet about Sarah Palin, but I can appreciate the position she is in, on this subject. She has to walk a fine line here, because if she comes down too heavy, it might push her daughter and grandchild away, and leave her more vulnerable.
Jess,
I am a fiscal conservative and was raised Christian. Though I no longer believe, I still practice the morality of the faith. However, I have noticed on too many conservative blogs a judgementalism that is ugly and disgusting and completely contrary to the principles of Christianity. Just look above.
We've all made mistakes and all done things in anger. Neither Bristol nor Levi conducted themselves with grace, but what it to be expected of two teenagers struggling with the negative attention they received. I will take Bristol and Levi at their word that they have changed and received forgiveness for their sins.
(Does anyone here remember the parable of the lost son? Does anyone remember the Sermon on the Mount? If so, act like it, don't just give it lip service on Sunday and don't act indignant when someone points out your hypocrisy.)
It may be that the down fall of Sarah Palin won't come from the left but from her own daughter. I really like Sarah, but Bristol iis beyond stupid not to see what Levi is doing. She doesn't see that since she started working and doing speeches, she is making money, and Levi doesn't have a job. Since he had nothing else to bash Sarah about his 15 second friends on the left kicked him to the curb. I know love make people do stupid things but come on Bristol wake up.
Valid point about it's none of our business and it's a family matter, however to many of her supporters who want her to run for president in 2012 it is their business. The media sure as hell is going to make it their business 10 times over. It's best to deal with a small fire before it spreads and become uncontrollable.
The media do not inform us any more, they lobby for their leftist agenda, period.
They have shamed themselves by pimping for Mr. Obama in 2008 and their credibility is nil. There are indications that the people is starting to take their distance from these followers of the Goebbels' doctrine: (1) in spite of the media's relentless efforts to support M. Obama, the polls show that his approval is plummeting; and (2) their dwindling audience has shifted to Fox News, not to mention The New York Times' loss of readers which has put them in financial troubles. The trend is the same in Europe, where the hype is so intense that it is a wonder any non-socialist/communist politician is ever elected.
It is high time we regain our independence from the media and start voting for the candidate(s) of our choice again (whether or not it's Mrs. Palin is irrelevant). Through the Internet, the libraries and inter communications it is easy to retrieve all the information we need on the candidates to help us make up our minds before voting.
When we vote for the candidate who is NOT our choice because we think other voters will be dumb enough to listen to the media's trash and will eliminate the best candidate, we are contributing to the media’s power - and the sooner they loose it, the better.
