Andrew Breitbart invades Netroots Nation

Andrew Breitbart decided to visit the very progressive Netroots Nation yesterday.  He was immediately identified and this young man took him on.  The guy accuses a Breitbart staffer of racially accosting a Muslim women, but somehow is unable of identify said Breitbart employee. Probably because the story was made up on the fly.  The Right Scoop has more video of Brietbart's encounter.

You have to admit, given the number of liberal agencies and people Breitbart has exposed, it is pretty darn gutsy for him to show up at Netroots.  Unlike the public at large, everyone at Netroots knows who Andrew Breitbart is.  So his showing up there would be like Sarah Palin crashing a DNC fundraiser.

Breitbart to Maher: You’re not a libertarian

This is a fun video. Bill Maher, who is such a fraud, gets called out by Andrew Breitbart for being a socialist rather than a libertarian.

NewsBusters:
And here's where it got good. Readers are strongly advised to watch the video to see Maher's expression when Breitbart nails him:
ANDREW BREITBART: So you're, you're officially not a Libertarian anymore, right? I mean, this position...
MAHER: Well..
BREITBART: ...has run so far from the Libertarian position. Is this, so you admit that you have more of a, you know, European socialist leaning perspective on this issue?
(AUDIENCE LAUGHTER)
BREITBART: Why is that funny?
The look on Maher's face at this moment said it all:

MAHER: I'm, I'm not afraid, it's not, I'm not afraid to say European socialism works.
European socialism works? This is exactly why I say Bill Maher is a fraud.  Europe is now in the grips of austerity measures because socialism worked so well there.

Maher has made a rather lucrative career by employing snark as a mask for intellect.  However when Maher comes up against anyone with real smarts he is exposed as the intellectual lightweight he really is.  Remember this embarrassing moment for Maher?

The only reason why Bill Maher ever called himself a libertarian is because it made him look bright and above the fray of typical left and right politics, NOT because he has a real understanding or belief in the libertarian position.

Shirley Sherrod caught in the crossfire

In the great pitch battle between the NAACP and the Tea Party movement over politically motivated charges of racism, USDA Georgia Director of Rural Development Shirley Sherrod got caught in the crossfire.

After viewing the full video of Sherrrod’s remark it becomes clear that her story wasn’t one of black vs. white, but rather a shift in attitude from black vs. white to rich vs. poor. Ms. Sherrod also makes clear that this story happened before the USDA employed her. Ms. Sherrod goes on to state that she became good friends with the white farmer in the end and the white farmer’s family confirms Ms. Sherrod’s claims.

Before the full video was made available, Ms. Sherrod was asked to resign her position from the USDA. In a CNN interview, Ms. Sherrod says the request for her resignation came from the White House and that she was disappointed that the NAACP did not bother to hear her out.

Between the administration and the NAACP, the NAACP’s actions are most egregious. The NAACP’s initial reaction was to condemn Sherrod without hearing her side of the story. Once the full story got out, the NAACP claimed that they were snookered by Fox News and Andrew Breitbart.
With regard to the initial media coverage of the resignation of USDA Official Shirley Sherrod, we have come to the conclusion we were snookered by Fox News and Tea Party Activist Andrew Breitbart into believing she had harmed white farmers because of racial bias.
Having reviewed the full tape, spoken to Ms. Sherrod, and most importantly heard the testimony of the white farmers mentioned in this story, we now believe the organization that edited the documents did so with the intention of deceiving millions of Americans.
This is complete nonsense. The NAACP was in possession of the full video before anyone else yet they did not bother to view it before condemning Sherrod.  They only people who snookered the NAACP was the NAACP themselves when they decided that covering their own ass was far more important than defending Sherrod.

Regarding the administration, their actions were completely political.  In typical Obama administration fashion their goal was to take a hot subject off the front burner any way they can. So Shirley Sherrod was tossed under the bus just like Rev. Wright, Van Jones and Yosi Sargent.  The administration’s claims that it had no input into the request for Sherrod’s resignation and that the decision came from Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack alone.  This is baloney. The Sherrod story was top news and whatever decision was made about her was going to reflect on the administration one way or another. Are we to believe that the White House did not care about the outcome?

Again, in order to remove the hot glare of attention from the Sherrod incident, the administration did a 180 just like the NAACP and is offering Sherrod her job back.

Regarding Andrew Breitbart, his goal was to launch a broadside at the NAACP. Mission accomplished, they made fools of themselves and pulled the administration along with them.  Where Breitbart can be faulted is for using the edited clips without knowing what the full story was about. In doing so, he has left himself open to criticism from the left and has caused most of the focus to go to Ms. Sherrod rather than the NAACP.

That being said, the left and Ms. Sherrod herself seem to think that all this is the fault of Breitbart and Fox News. Nope. Neither Breitbart nor Fox News fired Ms. Sherrod. It was the administration that chose to do that.

Each and every day, both the Democratic Party and the NAACP put themselves out there as great defenders and champions of the black community. Yet when a black person needed some defending, neither this Democratic administration or the NAACP defended her. Instead their first instincts were to defend themselves by throwing Sherrod under the bus. So in the end, the very people Ms, Sherrod is still putting her faith in are the very ones who betrayed her.

BUSTED! Video of USDA Director Shirley Sherrod sharing a racist moment with the NAACP

Big Government: We are in possession of a video from in which Shirley Sherrod, USDA Georgia Director of Rural Development, speaks at the NAACP Freedom Fund dinner in Georgia. In her meandering speech to what appears to be an all-black audience, this federally appointed executive bureaucrat lays out in stark detail, that her federal duties are managed through the prism of race and class distinctions.
In the first video, Sherrod describes how she racially discriminates against a white farmer. She describes how she is torn over how much she will choose to help him. And, she admits that she doesn’t do everything she can for him, because he is white. Eventually, her basic humanity informs that this white man is poor and needs help. But she decides that he should get help from “one of his own kind”. She refers him to a white lawyer.
Sherrod’s racist tale is received by the NAACP audience with nodding approval and murmurs of recognition and agreement. Hardly the behavior of the group now holding itself up as the supreme judge of another groups’ racial tolerance. [MORE]
What was all that chatter from the NAACP last week about how the Tea Party must remove racists from their ranks?  The good Lord says; “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone”.  Well, it is time for the NAACP to put down its bag of stones and time for them to do a little house cleaning of their own.

It is rather sad to see what the NAACP has become over the years. Here is an organization that once stood boldly against racial discrimination. Today, the organization is chock full of small-minded bigots who prefer to wallow in hypocrisy rather than stand as vanguards against discrimination for all Americans.

When the NAACP decided to take on the Tea Parties, they clearly thought they would be dealing with your typical elected Republican. Instead they are finding out the hard way that conservative activists are not the same as elected Republicans. Wantonly chucking around the race card simply won’t do. The NAACP is now set to have it biases, hypocrisy and foolishness exposed for all of America to see.

Aside from the racism in the video above, Andrew Breitbart exposes another problem (perhaps America’s biggest problem) from the same event with Ms. Sherrod. Ms. Sherrod is caught out there bragging about how great it is to work for Uncle Sam. How despite hard times for the private sector, good times are rolling on the public nickel.

This is exactly what the Tea Party is fighting against. Why should government employees enjoy better job security than the people who actually pay their salary? American Spectator had an article this Saturday called America's Ruling Class -- And the Perils of Revolution. It is a long read (21 pages printed) but well worth it. In it the author Angelo Codevilla spells out where attitudes like Ms. Sherrod’s come from. Take time to read it. It will enlighten you as to what a big task we have ahead of us if we truly want government to work for the people again.

Oh, and before I forget, after her big YouTube moment, Ms. Sherrod has resigned.

Video: Harry Reid supporters throwing eggs at Tea Party bus

Here is the video of Andrew Breitbart among the Harry Reid supporters while they were throwing eggs at the Tea Party bus (from The Founding Bloggers).  Check out the dude who wants Breitbart to leave, such a friendly chap!  Perhaps he is the guy in charge of hospitality at the hospitality tent.

The second video is from is Andrew Breitbart talking to the police about the Reid supporters. (h/t Hot Air)

Harry Reid Supporters throw eggs at Tea Party Express bus and Andrew Breitbart

Harry Reid’s goon squad was working overtime today.
From Tea Party Express III: Supporters of Senator Harry Reid have just thrown eggs at the Tea Party Express bus caravan - striking at least one of the three buses (the red Tea Party Express bus) with multiple eggs.
About 35 Reid supporters had lined Highway 95 in front of the Nugget Casino in Searchlight where they were attempting a counter-demonstration the tens of thousands of tea party supporters who are gathering for the "Showdown in Searchlight."
If that wasn’t enough, when Andrew Breitbart confronted Reid’s goons, they tried and failed to egg him too.
From the Founding Bloggers: Supporters of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid staged a counter-protest today in Searchlight, Nevada, the Senator’s hometown.  Reid supporters gathered just down the road from the launching point of the Tea Party Express tour, and when Breitbart happened upon them, he was met with threats of violence.  At least one protester threw an egg at Brietbart, missing him.  Eggs were also thrown at the Tea Party Express bus.
To add insult to insult, Reid supporters called the police to report that Breitbart had provoked an incident.
Typical leftists. They cry about “intimidation” if you raise your voice above a whisper, but they are usually the ones who actually get violent. Violence might be the only way Harry Reid gets his sorry ass reelected.

Update: Egg thrower identified ;-)

Breitbart shows how to deal with the Raaaaacism Industrial Complex

This is exactly how the right should have been handling phony racism charges from the left all along. Strip away the left’s false veneer of compassion and call them out for what they truly are: despicable and evil. Manufacturing racism is like making more cancer in the world. It’s an evil thing to do and those who do it should be condemned in the harshest terms.

Nothing gets the left angrier than when you remove their phony compassion shield. That is why they all freaked out over the term “Death Panels”, because it exposed their phony compassion about health care for what it truly is; government control of our lives.

What I also noticed is how this crowd is really giving Blumenthal the business right along with Breitbart. Conservatives are finally growing a spine.

The next “Big” ideas from Andrew Breitbart

Andrew Breitbart will be expanding his online media empire next year. In addition to his successful Breitbart.com, Big Hollywood and Big Government, Andrew plans to add Big Journalism, Big Tolerance, Big Jerusalem, Big Education and Big Peace.  Each site is dedicated to fighting the leftist strongholds in those areas.

Of the new sites, Big Journalism and Big Tolerance interest me most.  Here is what Breitbart has in store for each. From Mediaite

Big Journalism will be run by former Time Magazine staffer Michael Walsh, who is also a former journalism professor and film & television professor at Boston University. Walsh and Breitbart met at a casual gathering of like-minded people and hit it off. When Breitbart made the decision to launch a new site covering journalism, he says that Walsh was first person that came to his mind. The fact that Walsh is a media veteran going back to the early 70s didn’t hurt, he said.
Walsh and Breitbart share a similar distaste for the day-to-day work of “institutional journalists.” In an interview, the new editor of Big Journalism boiled down the mission of the site thusly: “Our goal at Big Journalism is to hold the mainstream media’s feet to the fire.  There are a lot of stories that they simply don’t cover, either because it doesn’t fit their world view, or because they’re literally innocent of any knowledge that the story even exists, or because they are a dying organization, short-staffed, and thus can’t cover stuff like they did before.”
“Big Journalism will be the go-to site for solidly backed-up stories, sharp points of view, and really great writing,” he said. “We are defenders of the First Amendment and resolute enemies of political correctness. That’s the key to the site’s philosophy.”

Breitbart feels that “if these traditional media outlets can’t be shamed into telling the truth, diverted for doing the wrong story, for simply running defense for one party, and mocked away from creating journalistic rules that only hold those on the right accountable, then it puts us in a position to do more than we’ve done in the past with talk radio and web aggregation. The market is wide open to go on the offensive, to tell truths that aren’t being told. The center-right alternative media has been playing a passable prevent defense, constantly saying ‘that’s not right’ for consistently biased reporting. Now we aim to offer more aggressive journalism and to give the mainstream media a little dose of its own medicine.”
Big Tolerance:
The site “will be run by my own version of the rainbow coalition: black and Hispanic conservative libertarians, Jewish, gay conservatives and libertarians. Those who are viewed in multicultural realm as traitors to their race, sexual orientation, and other cultural Marxist categories are going to act together to hold accountable the Media Matters and Al Sharptons and Jesse Jacksons and left-of-center Human Rights Organizations — which means toeing the line on multiculturalism and knee-jerk liberalism. These people are not allowed another point of view, and if they ever voice one they are vilified mercilessly.”
Breitbart continues: “Ultimately we want to make sure that the left and the media wont ever create another Clarence Thomas hearing. We’ve already seen with Henry Louis Gates and Obama, and the mainstream media’s attempted take-down of a white police office. The under media that we’re a part of countered the tired ‘racist white cop’ with truth and Obama’s pathetic ‘beer summit’ was a sweet sign of victory. We call BS to this sort of knee-jerk response to put people in stereotypes and archetypes that serve the cultural Marxist, left-of-center agenda.”
