Palin/ Romney 2012 (Romney/ Palin 2012), Sara Palin: “Sounds pretty good”

Yesterday the Boston Herald asked Sarah Palin what were her thoughts about running with Mitt Romney and Sarah said it “sounds pretty good”.
Conservative superstar Sarah Palin opened the door yesterday to joining forces with Mitt Romney for a 2012 White House run – a hot ticket that has some Republicans licking their chops at the prospect of unseating President Obama.
“Sounds pretty good,” Palin declared at yesterday’s Tea Party Express rally on the Common when asked about pairing up with the former Bay State governor – giving the idea a big thumbs-up as she left the stage after her headline speech.
Last night, as Palin stopped for cannoli at Mike’s Pastry in the North End, she said she was “serious” about the idea.
I have a lot of respect for Mitt,” she told the Herald.
Asked who would be on top of the ticket, Palin roared, “Ha! I haven’t even thought that far ahead yet.”
Indeed, Palin said she hasn’t decided whether she’ll run in 2012 – with or without Romney.
Romney, a presumptive 2012 Republican presidential contender who recently embarked on a nationwide book tour, has not ruled out an alliance with Palin, the GOP’s 2008 vice presidential candidate.
“Mitt Romney respects Sarah Palin and he appreciates the contributions she makes to the party,” said Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom. “But his immediate focus is on helping Republicans win back the Congress in 2010.”
Many in the blogosphere are saying that Sarah was just being polite because she was in Massachusetts.  I tend to agree. While there are some pluses to such a ticket, there are also some obvious drawbacks.

On the plus side, each kind of has what the other needs. Romney’s conservative credentials are sorely lacking, especially with RomneyCare on his back. For Sarah, the media’s meme about her experience appears to be sticking and Romney would help with that.

The problem starts with who runs the top of the ticket. Neither one would want to settle for the second chair. Although, given the difficulty of explaining RomneyCare, Mitt might find the number two seat the only option.

Would you like to see a Romney-Palin or Palin-Romney ticket in 2012?

More news as it develops.

I have no doubt that this ticket in 2012 would give President Obama another four years at the White House.
While Mitt Romney looks Presidential, I think that he lacks the true conservative values that the rest of us are looking for. Borderline RINO with Romneycare, plus his Mormon faith, make him an obvious target from both sides. Personally, I like the guy. I just don't think he's viable.
Ms. Palin, I believe, would be a mistake on anyones ticket. Don't get me wrong, nobody respects her more than I do. But she's been such an unfair target, and polarizing public figure that I believe she could be the death knell if included on the 2012 Republican ticket.
In 2012, we will need a strong canditate. There are going to a butt-load of poly-sci majors, and their "professors" that will refuse to admit that they were wrong in 2008. They WILL throw good money after bad. They also HATE the tea-party, Ms. Palin, the Constitution and the USA. Their ignorance will demand that they "cut off their nose to spite their face".
My dream would be a Conseravitive rout later this year, ousting the Socialists from our public offices. Then, in 2012, a true Conservative retake the White House. Then, Ms. Palin appointed to a high office. (Sec. of State?) I always thought that she was a very sharp person, and after suffering vicious attacks for lo, these many months, I'm quite sure that she can hold her own against anybody.
Then I'm thinking Palin 2016. That's where I stand.
Here's the main issue in 2010 and 2012...WE MUST VOTE!

BF, you almost had it right: I prefer West/Palin.

Um a Romney ticket yes with Sarah Palin....HELL NO! I think she has a way to go before making a legit run at any Executive branch position. I think she should run for the senate or stay in the political commentary, entertainment circuit. that's my pennies. As if you didn't know!! HA! :)N

I must confess I prefer Michele Bachman and Jim DeMint or Ron Paul. But Sarah Palin would be better than Obama that's for sure.

Bastiat, received a nice thank you for our contribution to LtCl West's campaign two days ago. For whatever reason, there was no additional request for money. I will contact the phone number just to make sure he is still in the race and I am sincerely hoping he is. That would be a first, no more requests for money.......which would seriously cause me to send way more and he doesn't even represent my district.

I would have say a big fat NO. That is four more years of Obama.

On this particular thread I have to admit that I think we've been defeated on Sarah Palin- She would be great, but has been so terribly damaged by the media and others that in our minds and more-so in the minds of the average American, she is not a viable candidate. I don't believe that it is not possible ever, but not now.

I hate to say that this could even have happened, but it did, and now even conservatives doubt her abilities.

I say this: It is not her abilities that are in question, not even her experience, but her character that has already been slain.

It's all rhetoric, I know, but ask yourself if we stand a better shot with a whipping boy for the media or a perceived knight in shining armor (yet to rise from our ranks).

This next election will be of the highest importance since it will decide our future trajectory. We have to nudge it in a conservative direction, and the rest may play itself out.

I really wish that Sarah Palin were our President because she has the backbone to fight our political status-quo, but her image has been damaged to the point where she is already dismissed as a candidate before the opportunity for debate arises (even though I thought she whooped Biden in the debate).

Anyways- I don't see Romney or Palin on our ticket-

For this next election we need a NEW hero-

I wouldn't mind someone obscure so long as they had executive experience, like Cliff mentioned in another post.

Supporting any politician just because they are the established Republican is an entirely wrong approach- especially in these times. People are not looking for a politican, they're looking for one of their own so long as they have the intellectual mettle to handle a debate on policy.

I think she was baiting the media as well. She must know that Romney would cut her pretty legs off if given half the chance.

Keep us posted about Hamilton.

Now that is a ticket that I would have a lot of confidence in. Neither of their conservative principles would be questioned.

It would take a much stronger conservative to carry Palin as VP again. I don't see any like that kicking around.

Anonymous @ 7:02 PM:

I have to disagree with Palin being the death knell in 2012. Just take a look at Reagan vs. Carter in 1977 gallup polls. Carter cleaned Reagan's clock, but we all know how things turned out in 1980. Three years in politics is like three millennium.

Should some other Republican win in 2012, they would do well to appoint Palin to Dept of Energy. She would move mountains in that Dept.

The key to figuring out who will be best against Obama in 2012, will depend on what type of Obama we have after 2010. Let's face it, he is losing his majority. Will Republicans at the helm pull him to the center? If so, it maybe impossible to beat him in 2012.

I think I know Obama and he will fight with his Republican congress every step of the way. As such, I think America will be looking to dump him no matter who the Republicans run.

I could see a West/Palin ticket only if West was a governor first. After Obama, I don't want to see any legislators as president for a long time.

Nikki:

You know I love to pieces. Even if you are not a Palin fan.

Mike:

I would be all for Bachmann or DeMint as VPs. Without executive experience, I have to pass on them in the big chair. I still have to warm up to Ron Paul in any spot. However, if the choice is 4 more years of Obama or Ron Paul, give me Ron Paul.

Clifton B said...

Janelle:

Come to think of it, I noticed that too. I gave to West months ago, but never got anymore solicitations. What is up with that?

Clifton B said...

JACG:

No to Romney or Palin or both?

Ozzie:

You paint a correct picture about the importance of this race. Unless we elect someone who will yank America from the jaws of the welfare state, all hope is lost.

Palin could do it, she has 2+ years to turn her image around. Consider where she was a year ago. When I consider where she was a year ago and how much bigger she is today, I have hope she can overcome the media slaughter.

As I stated in an earlier post, after 2010 the Tea Party really needs to throw some attention on the media. Completely destroying their credibility before 2012 will only help us choose our candidates wisely.

Hefmier:

"Change That You Will Be Begging For"

Now that is what I call a winning slogan.

Right now, I'm soley focused on the 2010 elections. That ebing said, I would have a hard time voting for Romney or Palin ~ or any other "highly visible" career politician. I agree with one of the comments above; what we need is a NEW hero. One of the reasons why Tea Party candidates have been so successful in the special elections is because there wasn't enough time for the opposition to mudsling them.

I just want someone who's economic sense is grounded in truth and reality. They must also realize that the current Democratic Party is a threat to America and treat it like such.

That was a pretty fair review, thank you for coming back with the link! Were you able to get anywhere near this place?

Alas, no, I could not attend.
I'm just grateful she didn't get the Ann Coulter treatment.

What is wrong with this country? Even you conservatives.I see no one out there with more integrity ,more foresight ,more truth, more caring for this country ,than Sarah Palin. No one works harder.
She has taken an unquenching fire aimed at her for 2 years now ,without ever backing down... And why,so you could ride her back? That would be a waste.
She has given more ,and gotten kicked in the teeth for it ,than any politician i have ever seen. This American women has the heart of a lion. A Reagan,Lincoln, and yes ,even a Washington.
She not only "can" lead this nation, but given the chance, she will take this corrupt Washington politics out ,root and branch. For she has no fear. Bring us back to America. My vote is for Sarah Palin. It should be your honor for her to serve this country.
