Why on earth are people defending Roman Polanski?

As readers will notice I rarely comment on celebrities unless they stick their head into the political world. This is because I find many of today’s celebrities to be nothing more than bed hopping, drug addicted, script reading half-wits who get far more attention than they deserve. That being said, I was not going to comment on Roman Polanski’s arrest because he is a degenerate child molester who finally got what he deserved.

However, I have been taken aback by some people’s ridiculous defense of this monster! The most notable of the Polanski apologist is that crazy piece that appeared in the Washington Post by Anne Applebaum (who by the way has a conflict of interest regarding Polanski). Basically what Applebaum’s argument boils down to is; why is anyone still concerned about Polanski’s case? WTF? THE MAN RAPED A LITTLE GIRL!!!!!

Polanski pleaded guilty at his trial and fled before sentencing. For some 30 years he did not live like Saddam Hussein in some dirty spider hole. No, this MoFo lived the life of Reilly, with fancy homes, a jet set European lifestyle and even won awards. For that, I think Polanski deserves double his original sentence should he be extradited to the US.

No doubt should Polanski be brought to the US, the fuzzy logic half-wits in Tinsel Town will be stomping their Birkenstocks for his release! Pathetic!

For a sane point by point take down of Polanski apologists, see Kate Harding’s article at Salon.

For the life of me, I will never understand why so many Americans have become so casual about disgusting behavior. There was a time when people like Polanski would have been shunned the world over, but today, excuses, excuse, excuses.

Roman Polanski is a completely disreputable man as are some of the films he has produced. I can't wait to see him get his day in court.

I was about to start into my "comfortable collapse" speech, but I see Clifton beat me to it. True story, though. Western society has become far too accepting of behavior that is simply unacceptable morally, socially, and in the case of Polanski, physically. I guess people forget that the Roman Empire was crushed under the weight of its own decadence.

Polanski IS a pedophile and a disgusting coward, who cut and run rathr than appeal and fight his case on its "merits."

That Europeans back this vile kiddie-raper is NOT surprising, that Continent is overrun with pedarist sympathizers....seriously.

That liberals here would do the same shows how much the liberals here revile even the most basic standards of decency once taken for granted by all Americans.

In a better country, Roman Polanski would've already been stoned onto death.

I cannot wait either. Justice has been delayed far too long.

Yes society has collapsed and accepted the unacceptable. The reason is easy, they stopped believing in a power higher than themselves. When you except yourself as the ultimate judge of morality, then you are free to make excuse after excuse for doing wrong and thus you never have to feel bad about anything you do. People need God.

I have a theory on liberals wanting to decriminalize child porn. Just look at all the stuff Hollywierd puts out that sexualizes children at younger and younger ages. Therefore it comes as no surprise that they flock to defend this pedophile.

Great minds think alike. Thank for the linkage.

Just dropped in to say that the vast majority of libs I know are as confused and disgusted as you are about Hollywood's support of Polanski.

My lib friends [who greatly outnumber my conservative friends, go figure] are equally appalled. I don't think the Polanski issue is a left or right one, rather it is an elitist vs. common man one.
