From Politico:
ABC's Terry Moran set the Twitter-sphere all aflutter when he wrote:
We've reached out to Moran and will update this post when we learn more.
Now, an ABC spokesperson explains to POLITICO what happened:
"In the process of reporting on remarks by President Obama that were made during a CNBC interview, ABC News employees prematurely tweeted a portion of those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview. This was done before our editorial process had been completed. That was wrong. We apologize to the White House and CNBC and are taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again."
The White House had no immediate comment.
Obama gets one right; Kanye West did act like a jackass when he stomped on Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. Kanye's behavior was the height of boorishness and if we apply the Maureen Dowd standard, one could say he was racist too.
Since Obama and I are in sync on this one, I am going to give Obama some friendly advice:
A president need not comment on the entire minutia of the day. Commenting on stories like this and Gates, have a tendency to take on a life of their own. To make matters worse, Kanye is a loose cannon and in need of publicity. Getting into a major dust up with the President of the United States will serve Kanye well, but will do nothing for you. Next time remember the two golden words: “No Comment”.

They'll probably make the President apologize to Kanye West, although, I don't know what for ... his remarks were right on target.
Kanye's actions at the MTV awards were deplorable and disrespectful to a fellow artist. If the roles were reversed, Taylor Swift would definitely be called a racist.
excellent advise to the president, clifton. west is so unworthy of all this attention. he really needs help.
"Barak Obama doesn't like black people."-Kayne West
Bah he wasn't "commenting" or weighing in on anything, he was having an off-the-record pre-interview chat with a CNBC reporter. An eavesdropping ABC reporter overheard their conversation and wrongly reported it. Nobody except the reporter Bam was talking to was supposed to hear it.

God forbid a white person, snatched the mike from a black person and then lauded praise on another white person, our grandchildren's children would still be hearing the screams.

Thanks, the whole thing kind of reminds me of Palin vs. Letterman. She just could not go there with Letterman, because he could make a career out of bashing her. Same with Kanye, he could build his own career on dissing the Pres. An unfair match up if ever.
Teresa:
I had heard about some dust up with Kanye and Swift. When I finally saw the video of what he did, I was shocked. To make matters worse, it was her first award and acceptance speech and he crapped on it. So nasty.

Jesse Jackson would probably be the first to agree with that!

Should you ever become famous, remember this, there is no such thing as off the record. Loose lips sinks ships.
