“The most honest, most open and most ethical Congress in history” – NOT!

November 8, 2006, newly elected House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had this to say to the American people:
"The American people voted to restore integrity and honesty in Washington, D.C., and the Democrats intend to lead the most honest, most open and most ethical Congress in history,"
As they use to say in the old Virginia Slims cigarette commercial, you’ve come a long way baby!  The Washington Post is reporting that dozens in congress are under ethics inquire.

From The Washington Post [emphasis added mine]
House ethics investigators have been scrutinizing the activities of more than 30 lawmakers and several aides in inquiries about issues including defense lobbying and corporate influence peddling, according to a confidential House ethics committee report prepared in July.
The report appears to have been inadvertently placed on a publicly accessible computer network, and it was provided to The Washington Post by a source not connected to the congressional investigations. The committee said Thursday night that the document was released by a low-level staffer.
The ethics committee is one of the most secretive panels in Congress, and its members and staff members sign oaths not to disclose any activities related to its past or present investigations. Watchdog groups have accused the committee of not actively pursuing inquiries; the newly disclosed document indicates the panel is conducting far more investigations than it had revealed.
Well with this leak, tracks will be covered and no doubt investigations stymied.  I wonder if this was no accident? Read the whole article so that you can see some of the jokers that were being looked at.

Honest, open and ethical my foot!

I remember when Peloski made that statement. I remember my reaction too. Yea, honestly corrupt, openly corrupt, and (un)ethically corrupt. As well as pigs are going to start to fly, swampland will be for sale in Florida, and my snake oil will cure all your ills. More of the War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, and Ignornace is Strength nonsense that was typified in Well's 1984. Does any of this surprise me? It would had suprised me if there WASN'T investigations. Do I expect anything to become of them or any actual accountability to come of it? Not as long as the democrats and that fraud in the White House are in power.

What is that quote? Something about everyone being an idealist until they count the cost? Seems applicable.

Michele Bachman has made a plea for everyone that can, get to DC on Thursday. Please spread the word.
