Read The Fine Print: ObamaCare does not cover children with pre-existing conditions until 2014

Oh how the Democrats scoffed Tea Party protesters who demand that the bills Congress passes be read first. Remember how the Democrats mockingly brought in a speed-reader to read Cap and Trade? How about how John Conyers said you need two days and two laywers to understand the bills?

Well that attitude of the Democrats is coming back to bite them in the ass big time. One of the much-touted immediate benefits of ObamaCare was that children with pre-existing conditions could not be denied coverage. Well it turns out that isn’t true. Children with pre-existing conditions will have to wait for their benefit, just like adults, until 2014.
From Associated Press: [...] Under the new law, insurance companies still would be able to refuse new coverage to children because of a pre-existing medical problem, said Karen Lightfoot, spokeswoman for the House Energy and Commerce Committee, one of the main congressional panels that wrote the bill Obama signed into law Tuesday.
However, if a child is accepted for coverage, or is already covered, the insurer cannot exclude payment for treating a particular illness, as sometimes happens now. For example, if a child has asthma, the insurance company cannot write a policy that excludes that condition from coverage. The new safeguard will be in place later this year.
Full protection for children would not come until 2014, said Kate Cyrul, a spokeswoman for the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, another panel that authored the legislation. That's the same year when insurance companies could no longer deny coverage to any person on account of health problems. [...]
Now the Democrats are scrambling to fix this provision.  When Pelosi said that we have to pass the bill so that we can find out what is in it, she wasn’t joking. Next time Washington READ THE BLEEPING BILLS BEFORE YOU VOTE!

Um, that doesn't sound like fine print, that's part of the bill. Maybe they should read it before enacting it "to find out what's in it"? Just a thought.

Do you remember that old organization called RIF? Reading is fundamental! Methinks congress needs a refresher course.

How about writing the bleeping bills before voting on them?

I think most of us had to have the suspicion that if the major industries were for passage, there were provisions to help them. The insurance industry has until 2014 to get all the unhealthy people off their rolls. One year, maybe two, before we see creeping into MSM accounts and politicians' campaign speeches the cruel antics of insurance providers (and those who pay for employees' benefits) wiping away all the sick and those with pre-existing illnesses. And the providers will claim they're only following the law as set forth in the bill.

I'm with Reed on this one. There has to be something realllllly good in it for them, to have gone along with it with big shit-eating smiles as they have... and you just KNOW that in the end, there is something about this whole thing that reeks of buying votes from industry - why else can Barry get away with slamming doctors, banks, insurance companies, automakers, and everyone else and everyone just keeps smiling and agreeing with him, including those he's slamming?

It makes me remember THIS:

I guess we have the answer to THAT question, now, don't we?

And what the insurance companies will do to us (burdens to society) will make what the credit card companies did to us in the wake of credit card "reform" (which was supposed to be for consumer protection and ended up screwing us even harder) look like a picnic.

@ Angie Lee, you wrote: "which was supposed to be for consumer protection and ended up screwing us even harder."

Genius! That is exactly how they get away with their crazy agenda--it's FOR the people, and the effect is always the same--we, the people, get screwed. What ticks me off is that almost half the country is too stupid to understand what is going on and where this will lead/is leading.

They tug on the heartstrings, all the while hiding their true intentions. At least, until Dingell let senility get the better of him and opened his mouth... It's only the approximately 48% of the population that actually works and pays taxes that gets screwed.

Michigan needs a serious shave to rid itself of the unsightly dangly balls of excrement (Lansing, Detroit, Flint, Saginaw - I'll even throw in Ann Arbor for good measure) otherwise known as dingle-berries (see that?!?! *snort*) that have embarrassed this great state for decades and brought her literally to her knees. Look what we've been "blessed" with:
***Democratic Governor Jennifer Granholm (AKA Granwhore, queen of the "f---ing retards"), provided courtesy of Detroit (it's long been whispered Kwame Kilpatrick bought the votes that put her over the top), who promised to "blow us away" - she made good on that one.
***Democratic US Senators Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow (need I say more?).
***Democratic US Representatives
1. Bart Stupak (abortion sellout/seeker of 15 minutes of fame; entire UP/northern LP)
2. Dale Kildee (abortion sellout; Flint AND Saginaw)
3. Mark Schauer (healthcare DEFORM enthusiast; Detroit area/west)
4. Gary Peters (healthcare DEFORM enthusiast demanding "fiscal responsibility"; Detroit area)
5. Sander Levin (Rangell's second replacement in as many days and Carl's big brother; Detroit area)
6. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick (Kwame's mother/Rangell cohort; Detroit)
7. John Conyers (wife convicted of extortion and sentenced to prison; Detroit area)
8. John Dingell (proposed additional 50 cpg gas tax when gas was already $5 a gallon for greening; Detroit area)

The latter two also happen to be the longest and second-longest serving members of the House. Notice how many of them are from Detroit area.

Necrosis. The only way to save the body is to amputate the festering limb threatening to overwhelm the body with infection.
