Video: Christina Aguilera screws up national anthem lyrics at Super Bowl

Business Insider: At about 51 seconds in, as she was about to sing the fourth line ("O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming"), she accidentally sang a hybrid of the second line: "What so proudly we watched, at the twilight's last streaming."

Singing The Star Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl can either make you or break you.  Hey Whitney, show Christina how it is done!

All these liberal supporting singers had messed up the anthem wayyyyy too many times to be an accident.

Either that, or the national anthem is soooo low on their "to learn" list they never bother.

I agree that Christina screwed up royally on a song that any red-blooded American should know the words to.

I like Whitney Houston's version.. however Martina McBride is my all time favorite. She sang two weeks ago at a playoff game.

My God Whitney has (had) an amazing voice! She was beautiful, triumphant, and proud as she sang this. Gave me goose bumps. Thanks for reminding us what a real Star Spangled Banner sounds like. I miss the real Whitney. I grew up with her!

What's disappointing about this, is that Augilera has sung the national anthem before. She sang it at the NBA Finals a couple of times in fact.

The reason why is that they all try to re-invent the song. To do a killer version of the anthem, all one need do is emote.

I remember McBide singing the anthem. Like I told 2nd Anony, all you have to do is emote the lyrics and presto ... magic. McBride clearly emoted.

I too miss Whitney! I grew up on her as well. It is really heartbreaking to see such talent thrown away.

I have seen Aguliera do the anthem before. She tried to rock it and it really, really, sucked.

On the bright side she will never be as bad as Rosanne.

Christina's version made me grimmace. What a mess.

Every time I watch Whitney's version I cry. It's so damn perfect!
