Glenn Reynolds on the Tea Party Convention

Glenn Reynolds from Instapundit has an article in today’s Wall Street Journal.  In it he gives a first hand account of the behind the scene action that was going on at the Tea Party Convention in Nashville.

Reynolds makes some very good observations, like the general mood of the crowd:
Pundits claim the tea partiers are angry—and they are—but the most striking thing about the atmosphere in Nashville was how cheerful everyone seemed to be. I spoke with dozens of people, and the responses were surprisingly similar. Hardly any had ever been involved in politics before. Having gotten started, they were finding it to be not just worthwhile, but actually fun. Laughter rang out frequently, and when ne w-media mogul Andrew Breitbart held forth on a TV interview, a crowd gathered and broke into spontaneous applause.
Reynolds also mentions two of the black conservatives running in 2010, Les Phillips and Angela McGlowan.  In addition, Reynolds tells us what actions Tea Partiers are taking across the nation.

I love Instapundit, and read it regularly.

Angela McGlowan is fabulous! I wish her good fortune in her bid for the House. The people of Mississippi will be lucky to have such a great representative working hard for them. I don't know anything about Les Phillips, but I also wish him good fortune, as well.

Glenn obviously has gone to events. He captures the mood, the people who attend and the message. Exactly what our merry little band (well, not so little, anymore) feels and says. Thanks for the link and I give the WSJ a cheer for the way they are reporting on all of these topics.

Thanks for sharing Clifton, I will definitely read this. I just want to add that your blog has become my favorite must-check-everyday blog and I really enjoy it! Your common sense perspective is refreshing and I know you will always have insight on the latest and (sometimes not so) greatest political happenings... keep up the great work!

Angela McGlowan is the best. I am so happy to hear she is running. She will win.

To tell you a little about Les Phillip. He is naturalized citizen that immigrated here at age 6, his life was changed by pilot that flew that plane that brought him to what he viewed the land of opportunity. Graduated Annapolis, 8 years (if I remember right) Naval aviator-flying helicopters off a carrier during Gulf War. Small business owner, married, wonderful family. Has been a teaparty activist since the beginning, very conservative & proud to say so.
