Harry Reid joins the Raaaaacism Industrial Complex

Well we can now add Harry Reid to the lost list of lefties using the race card to defend healthcare reform.  On the Senate floor yesterday Reid had this to say about Republicans who opposed the 2,000-page monstrosity.
"Instead of joining us on the right side of history, all the Republicans can come up with is, 'slow down, stop everything, let's start over.' If you think you've heard these same excuses before, you're right," Reid said Monday. "When this country belatedly recognized the wrongs of slavery, there were those who dug in their heels and said 'slow down, it's too early, things aren't bad enough.'"
He continued: "When women spoke up for the right to speak up, they wanted to vote, some insisted they simply, slow down, there will be a better day to do that, today isn't quite right.
"When this body was on the verge of guaranteeing equal civil rights to everyone regardless of the color of their skin, some senators resorted to the same filibuster threats that we hear today."
As far as race card hustling goes, this is a clumsy one. Harry completely glosses over the fact that it was a Republican president that freed the slaves and still uses the analogy anyway. Harry even tosses in a bunch of other "isms" for good measure.

What Reid also doesn’t take into consideration is that a whole lot of the opposition to the senate’s healthcare reform comes from his side of the aisle too. Are they slave loving misogynist bigots too?

I have noticed and I am sure you have too, that many on the left love to compare every issue to the worst possible examples in history. For example, any recession under a Republican administration is likened to the Great Depression or any war under a Republican administration is always like Viet Nam. Why do they do this and who actually buys into these over the top comparisons away?

The thing that lefties like Harry fail to understand about over playing the race card is that eventually people start to take the cry of racism as a big fat joke. People become casual to charge. Eventually, just like in The Boy Who Cried Wolf, real incidents of racism will be ignored. Already we can see people starting to mock this over use of the race card.

It is only a matter of time before everyone gives the big Ho-Hum to any charge of racism. Should that day come, you can thank Harry Reid, Jesse Jackson, Jimmy Carter and the rest of the Raaaaacism Industrial Complex.

It's absolutely disgusting to use this comparison and yet he won't apologize.

Harry Reid also seems to forget that the filibuster on civil rights came from (oh gasp) the Democrats.

Hmm, the opposition on both sides may stem from those in Congress who are paying attention to their constituents. Reid should pay attention, his poll numbers are dropping. Or perhaps he is aware and is getting desperate. The arguments he makes sound unhinged.

Thank you. I'm linking, on the top of my Sidebar. Where I change links daily, to posting/news/etc. Don't know how many "Pretty Blog Readers" check them out, but it's better than doing nothing.

And actually, with my "Pretty Blog" readership, to post a lot of this, would probably be self-defeating. Meaning, ladies might just stop reading my blog, altogether.

But with these constantly changing links at top of my Sidebar, I hope I'm spreading a bit of info. I hope...

I've tried the route of having blogs, just devoted to this Conservative info spreading. Few people come by. And I'm mostly 'singing to the choir.' [Or getting scary commenter] So, this is my way of choice. With luck, I'm accomplishing something.

They've made it clear that they're willing to sacrifice seat to get this past. That means they know that they'll be voting against the people but don't care. A perfect example of why people are protesting.

I may have an answer, Clifton: the Left believes in very unpopular things. They know this, but they also believe that the reason this is so is that most people are unenlightened ignoramuses who cling to bad ideas [like freedom and religion]. The Left believes it has found THE ANSWER to bringing about the immanentizing of the eschaton [heaven on Earth]. Trouble is, no one likes their solutions once they understand them. Therefore, the Left must practice The Big Lie. They feel they are compelled, being surrounded by so many morons, to deceive the masses for their own good. Because, let's not forget, they have THE ANSWER. A component of The Big Lie is The Big Deception, which involves a Big Deflection away from the reality of the situation. None of their policies or actions can survive direct questioning, so the Leftists must turn the tables on the questioners and make it seem as though the inquisitors have bad or evil intentions. Overtime and after constant and unrelenting hectoring, the Left's way of thinking triumphs. They successfully infect enough people so that this diseased mode of thinking becomes chronic, deep-rooted, instinctual. If the Devil's greatest triumph was that he convinced people he did not exist, the Left's greatest triumph has been to convince people that the Leftist way of thinking is normal. It is not. It is a perversion of reason and a horribly mutant form of logic. It is antithetical to human life. Nothing but decay and destruction are left [pun intended] in it's wake.

Therefore, in this case, those who aren't raaaaacists are repeatedly denounced as raaaaacists.

Harry Reid is simply using old liberal tactics of half baked emotional arguments. The problem for Harry is that he is such a clumsy hack the tactic blows up in his face.

Thanks for the Linky Love (sure can use it, my numbers are way off today).

Remember, knowledge is power, so spreading the word anyway you can helps to overcome the MSM's spin jobs.

Put Obama in that category. He is more than willing to go down as a one termer, if he can permanently change America to a socialist nation.

Excellent explanation! Leftist love to repeat lies until they take on the air of truth, for example healthcare crisis. They repeated that ad nausum, and no one ever said otherwise.

However there is one element that is unmoved by leftist lies. It is reality, you can deny reality for so long before it breaks forth and kicks you square in the pants.

Damn straight. A is A. You can call it B, but it is still A.
