Rudy Giuliani won’t run for US Senate

From the New York Daily News
Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani is expected to announce Tuesday he is not running for U.S. Senate or anything else in 2010, effectively ending his storied - and often stormy - electoral career, The Daily News has learned.
The announcement, at which he'll also endorseRepublican Rick Lazio for governor, marks the end of a year-long political dance by Giuliani, who mulled bids for governor and then Senate before backing away from both.
He had reason to weigh each run: surveys showed him a clear favorite to win primaries for either office, and as recently as last week a poll showed Giuliani crushing freshman Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand by 10 points.
But the former mayor has decided to stay in the private sector, where he will continue his work as a security consultant, a sometimes TV commentator and, increasingly, a celebrity draw on the GOP fund-raising circuit. MORE
I have detected a pattern of Rudy kind of chickening out on the big races. He did not square off against Hillary when she ran for senator. He totally botched up his front-runner status in 2008 GOP primaries, passed on running against the weak Democrat governor of New York  and now this.

Could it be that Rudy simply doesn’t want to tarnish is record with a possible loss? So many opportunities to run and win, yet he seems to duck out every time. What’s up with that?

Rudy is probably the only RINO I could support still. He is very squishy on social issues but is very firm fiscally. I also admire the way he made NY liberals twist in the wind throughout his two terms. Even Sharpton’s race baiting didn’t move Rudy.

Rudy would be a RINO on the national stage, but he would be our RINO, one we could at least count on fiscally.  Too bad, he would have had my support.

I wish Rudy would either crap or get off the damned pot. The endless posing has got to stop. All he does it take valuable face time from genuine Republicans seeking office. I'm tired of his playing off the popularity he gained from 9-11. He is now the "moderate Republican" version of the Kennedy's - an STD that just won't go away.
