9 Dead, 30 Wounded At Fort Hood Shooting

This story is developing rapidly. The Jawa Report has the figures up to 9 Dead and 30 Wounded. Since everyone is thinking it, I might as well just say it; this looks an awful lot like terrorism. I pray it isn't. It is still too early to tell. Details are coming in fast.

Follow The Jawa Report and Hot Air. They seem to be keeping up with all the developments.

Guess we will see. I wrote about it, too. Mostly because that's where my wife is currently working.

I lived in the Fort Hood area for a number of years while in the Army. Many are painting it as a place of violence, but violence is brought from outside of post by people enlisting that have little regard for life in the first place. Being a Soldier is more than just pointing a rifle and pulling the trigger. It's about discipline and knowing when to fire and when not.

Hopefully they get the third gunman, dead or alive.

Heart-breaking and makes me angry at the same time.

Listening to the President's new conference - could he be any worse? You don't start this type of presentation with a smirk or relegate it to second tier.

My heart is breaking for the soldiers and their families at Fort Hood.

My heart is breaking because the shooter was a VT grad: http://www.roanoke.com/news/breaking/wb/225202

And I am pissed because Obama made it about him at the end of his speech. "And I want all of you to know that as Commander in Chief, there is no greater honor, but also no greater responsibility for me, than to make sure that the extraordinary men and women in uniform are properly cared for and that their safety and security when they are at home is provided for."

We spent 6 1/2 years stationed there, and our thoughts and prayers are with our friends and our "Army Family".
