What the hell? Did Matthews watch the speech with his eyes closed? It is no wonder that MSNBC comes in dead last in the cable news rating game. With utterly vapid and useless partisan analysis like this, why tune in?
Obama has been president for a little over a year; you would think that Chris Matthews would have gotten over the fact that Obama is black by now. Most of us are more concern with the direction Obama is taking the nation to still be noticing what color he is. Yet here is Matthews yammering on about how post racial the speech was. Never mind that there was nothing remotely related to race in the speech.
Matthew’s statement again reminds me of that subtle bigotry in the left. Biden, Reid and now Matthews' statement all seem to suggest that it is some major feat for black people to be articulate and competent. Matthews' statement is also probably a tell tale sign that Obama’s color had a lot to do with Matthews' decision to vote for him.
Since Matthews’ comment started making wave throughout the Internet, Matthews released a statement clarifying his remark.
"I think he's done something wonderful," Matthews said. "I think he's taken us beyond black and white in our politics, wonderfully so, in just a year."
Huh? I cannot think of anything Obama has done thus far to really move the nation down the road on race relations. If anything, the election of Obama says that the nation is moving along on race on its own.

I have been beyond Obama being (1/2) black for a LOOONNG time now. I would say about 30 seconds after the historical nature of his election and accpetance speech (woo hoo, go us.) What I just cant seem to get over...and have not forgotten, especially last night, is that he is a STINKING SOCIALIST (insert crazy Howard Dean scream here)
"Biden, Reid and now Matthews' statement all seem to suggest that it is some major feat for black people to be articulate and competent." Agreed!
Since the wonderful Obama has taken us beyond black and white, does that mean those of us who don't buy into his liberal socialist ideology are free to express ourselves without being labeled racists?
Nah. It's just too tempting for them to fire that bullet.

I forgot he was white. LOL. Does it always come down to color? Why do 'progressives' care so much about the color of ones skin? Does it really make a big difference on how valid they are? Do they expect so little from black people that thye can't get it out of their mind? I would hate it if people always said stupid things like,I forgot you were white.
Thats a backhanded complement. I'm sure you understand being a dark skinned 'negro' and all. lol.
Clifton, your blog is way too much fun! If we take the time to get to know and hear each other, there are perfectly valid reasons to thoroughly like or dislike each other. As for Chris Matthews, Ron White says it best; "you can't fix stupid".

Did that man have his brain surgically removed or something?
Chris Matthews is just awful.
I cannot understand why the Republicans don't point out that the other side of the aisle is either racist or highly gaffe-prone with race on their minds at all times. This is insane.
Love your thoughts, sir. As always.
Jackytc, that is a post I may need to borrow or steal.
I'm sure gla y'all watch MSDNC because I'm sure not going to.
I bet Matthews got another chill running down his leg again. He better get to a doctor fast. I thinks he has a bladder problem. It could be affecting his vision.
All this says to me is that Matthews has a running commentary in his head that goes "he's black, he's black, he's black" and was stunned when he had a conservative moment of viewing BO as the president and not "the black president." This says a lot about Matthews and something about the left.
